And it’s been raining virtually all day - I’m back in winter woollies, cosy new Lazybones trousers on for the first time.

Given the weather in southern Europe I’m not really complaining, but it’d be nice to have a little bit of summer back soon….

Our family divide into those who feel the cold and those who don't. I am in the 'feel the cold' camp.

Even as a school child I would be wearing a sweater when other girls were in shirt sleeves. Mind you I was not alone, the divide was fairly general and my sister and best friend felt the cold even more than I do.

DH and DD go out in blizzards in T shirts - They are mad!!

I kept waking up cold last night, eventually had to go and find another blanket.
I know there is still plenty of time to have some good weather, but I always feel that as soon as the schools break up, we’re hurting towards autumn.

I am most definitely weird. My parents took me to the West Indies and then Kuwait to live. Husband and I had a villa in Spain for about twenty years so I spend much of my time shivering back in the UK. I Just can’t bear the cold.

Where are you saltrock123?

MiniMoon Fri 14-Jul-23 23:46:19

We certainly need the rain, but I would like warm rain without the horrible cold wind. I thought about lighting the fire but it would have meant going out in the rain to fetch the logs.
I wore my jeans and a fleecy sweater and threw a crocheted blanket over my legs while watching the tennis.

Can we swap please? its been horrendous this week, sooo hot.

Mizuna Fri 14-Jul-23 22:51:13

I ansolutely love winter, the cold, the rain... can't bear summer, which drains me. However, I do feel for the holidaymakers who come to Cornwall and face days of rain. It's sad to see a cagoule-clad family huddled in a café wishing they could go to the beach.

JenniferEccles Fri 14-Jul-23 22:21:03

I’m certainly not complaining about the rain. We need it don’t we? Our lawns are getting quite parched, and, until today, my husband has been out every evening watering the plants with the hose.
In any case I’m one of those who hates the heat. I would really struggle to cope with the temperature they are currently experiencing in Southern Europe. Horrendous. Low twenties in the summer suit me just fine, with sunny days interspersed with showers.

I’m also strange in that I don’t hate winter !

5 days of rain 🌧 predicted here according to the met office.

Charleygirl5 Fri 14-Jul-23 22:11:03

I was so cold I had to have a shower before I cooked my supper and settled down to watch TV. I will be back to my hwb. I refuse to switch on the heating as it is mid July. I belive tomorrow will be similar- wonderful.

Hetty58 Fri 14-Jul-23 22:02:50

I just love it! I can't stand the heat - especially with humidity. Heating? Are you kidding? I'm just back in normal clothes - it's so comfortable - lovely!

I haven't forgotten that awful 40 degrees last July, have you?

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Jul-23 22:01:14

boheminan

Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow - it's St, Swithun's Day!!!

Oh yes!! 😯

I’ve got my winter pj’s on and just had a mug of Horlicks. I feel summer is passing us by. Won’t be long now before we will be switching lamps on at 9pm. I feel very sad tonight.

No, we'll have some lovely weather before long 🌞

SachaMac Fri 14-Jul-23 21:54:00

My heating is on, it’s rained none stop here and I got soaked twice so felt chilly. It feels very autumnal here today even though we’re only half way through July!!

Glad it's not just us crazyH and Norah. Mr. S. thought I was joking until he saw the look on my face.

No, not just you, Smileless2012.

We're happily sitting fireside with cake and hot drinks!smile

It began raining here about an hour ago. It’s not cold, though, still 23deg in the house. It’s windy which is annoying as some plants in pots keep blowing over.

Sara1954 Fri 14-Jul-23 20:39:21

I’ve been lighting the wood burner for over a week now, refuse to be cold.
But today was horrendous, rain all day, sky is still grey and overcast.
But I agree with all of you who have said this is preferable to temperatures of 40 degrees plus.

Organised firework displays are still taking place here in France just individuals are banned from buying them. Some Departements having been having drone displays instead.
It's hot here but not like Italy or Greece thank goodness.

NanaDana Fri 14-Jul-23 19:42:50

Just re-watched the film, "The Day After Tomorrow", released in 2004, one of the better apocalyptic climate change blockbusters. It seemed exaggerated in parts, but who knows?.. I'm intensely worried about the effects of global warning, and in particular about just how soon it could all go so badly wrong. I won't be here to suffer from its worst effects, but what a poisonous legacy we are leaving our children and Grandchildren.

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Jul-23 19:42:10

Oh! It's Bastille Day.
I knew the date was significant!
Fireworks have been banned in France, I think.

Joseann Fri 14-Jul-23 19:39:43

I was out this morning and came home as wet as a drowned rat. 🐀 There was going to be a picnic in my French group to celebrate Bastille Day, 🇫🇷 but soggy baguettes wouldn't have been a good idea!
🥖 🥐
The forecast for next week looks iffy too.
