And it’s been raining virtually all day - I’m back in winter woollies, cosy new Lazybones trousers on for the first time.

Given the weather in southern Europe I’m not really complaining, but it’d be nice to have a little bit of summer back soon….

Me Too!

I had to go out this morning for a hair cut. When I returned I got straight into my comfortable 'duvet day' winter track suit

So close to the heating having its ‘just test to make sure it’s all right before the winter’, 17, feels like 14.

Witzend Fri 14-Jul-23 17:58:16

Dh is still in shorts and a thin short sleeved shirt, saying, no, he’s not a bit cold….

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 14-Jul-23 18:09:13

I’m not complaining, I wouldn’t want to be in the European heatwave and my plants are getting a lovely soaking. I never put my winter clothes away so they’re always to hand - the winds here can be vicious.

Yes I've ended up like a drowned rat three times this week. I dug out my long winter coat today as sick of getting soaked. We've just had our annual heating check, very tempted to test it myself.

Heavy rain here today, but it's mostly welcome (except for the poor tourists) and definitely preferable to heatwaves.

foxie48 Fri 14-Jul-23 18:20:43

We've had so much rain, today it hasn't stopped. I rode in the rain, took the dog for a (short) walk in the rain and picked veg from the garden in wellies and a raincoat this afternoon. It feels like October but I'm another who prefers this to the heat we had last year.

Jaxjacky Fri 14-Jul-23 18:23:23

Just seen on FB a friend north of us in Hampshire has lit their log burner!
I too couldn’t take 40deg plus.

Norah Fri 14-Jul-23 18:29:43

Nice here.

Not at all hot, 16 and rain, dogs love it as do I.

Georgesgran Fri 14-Jul-23 18:53:30

Pouring down in Newcastle, very cool and blustery too.

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Jul-23 18:56:50

I should have changed into something warmer when I got in from a very damp morning.

My crochet blanket is now getting large enough to cover my legs whilst I was watching the tennis!

Redhead56 Fri 14-Jul-23 18:59:18

It's poured down and I put polo neck jumper and thick socks on it's really cold.

BlueBelle Fri 14-Jul-23 19:02:26

It’s certainly raining here but not at all cold still in sleeveless top and just a cardi when I was out and about with my brolly up

Lomo123 Fri 14-Jul-23 19:02:30

On couch with 3 throws over me. Refuse to put heating on, I, ll survive.

crazyH Fri 14-Jul-23 19:08:25

I’ve got the heating on 😩

maddyone Fri 14-Jul-23 19:25:42

I haven’t been out today, it’s rained nearly all day. I did some cleaning instead and changed the bed. Didn’t wash the bedding though, left it till the weather picks up next week as I like to give it a blow on the line.
I’m wearing three quarter leggings and a short sleeved tee shirt. No winter clothes, but I have got a micro fleece at the the ready to put on tonight.

Norah Fri 14-Jul-23 19:29:56

crazyH

I’ve got the heating on 😩

Gracious yes, and the fire burning. Lovely!

Joseann Fri 14-Jul-23 19:39:43

I was out this morning and came home as wet as a drowned rat. 🐀 There was going to be a picnic in my French group to celebrate Bastille Day, 🇫🇷 but soggy baguettes wouldn't have been a good idea!
🥖 🥐
The forecast for next week looks iffy too.

Callistemon21 Fri 14-Jul-23 19:42:10

Oh! It's Bastille Day.
I knew the date was significant!
Fireworks have been banned in France, I think.

NanaDana Fri 14-Jul-23 19:42:50

Just re-watched the film, "The Day After Tomorrow", released in 2004, one of the better apocalyptic climate change blockbusters. It seemed exaggerated in parts, but who knows?.. I'm intensely worried about the effects of global warning, and in particular about just how soon it could all go so badly wrong. I won't be here to suffer from its worst effects, but what a poisonous legacy we are leaving our children and Grandchildren.

sodapop Fri 14-Jul-23 19:58:28

Organised firework displays are still taking place here in France just individuals are banned from buying them. Some Departements having been having drone displays instead.
It's hot here but not like Italy or Greece thank goodness.

boheminan Fri 14-Jul-23 20:03:37

Hope it doesn't rain tomorrow - it's St, Swithun's Day!!!

tanith Fri 14-Jul-23 20:18:34

Its rained all day but its not cold.

Smileless2012 Fri 14-Jul-23 20:20:50

Glad it's not just us crazyH and Norah. Mr. S. thought I was joking until he saw the look on my face.
