Oh, I left out the Vikings.
M0nica
All our ancestors came to this country in a small boat, whether they were Bronze Age migrants, Iron Age, Anglo-Saxons, Huguenots, Irish, Scottish, West Indian, African, Indian sub continent, EU citizens
Where do you draw your line?
We have, until recently had a intermittently growing economy. Growing so fast that it is being held back by the lack of workers to do the jobs available. Many EU citizens returned home after Brexit, making the situation worse.
The NHS is totally dependent on immigrants from other countries, as is farming, care work and many other key sectors of our economy.
There is a housing problem. Not enough houses have beenbuilt over decades. This problem isn't caused by the immigrants it is caused by governments
Who do you suggest we send home to free a house for your daughter? Doctors? Nurses? Care workers? Farm workers? Pharmacists?
Housing those with disabilities, whether physical or mental, is entirely separate from the main housing market and if your daughter and boyfriend are currently homeless then turn your wrath on your local authority or the government for not ensuring that the vulnerable are properly housed.
Blaming people who come to this country to work hard, look after our health, care for the disabledwho need help, feed us and do a host of other things is misplaced and unjust.
Well said, MOnica!
The government has been very successful in making people think that it is ANYONE but them who is the cause of the problems faced by people like your daughter - refugees; greedy NHS/care workers/teachers; people on benefits.
LilyoftheValley I do feel sorry for your daughter and her partner, but your blame is misplaced.
It is cuts by the government; poor organisation by the government; privatisation; rich people's off shore tax havens; wasting public money on giving contracts to wealthy 'mates' and many more reasons. Divide and rule seems to be their policy.
It is NOT refugees that are the problem; in a country well run
for the many, not the few, decent affordable housing would not be a problem.
There’s not really enough information here to make an informed comment.
Why are they homeless? Where have they been living? Do they both need supportive living ?
Supportive living accommodation is different to normal stock and for anyone it doesn’t happen overnight.
I totally agree with you Monica This country has always been built on immigration
You cannot blame immigration (by whatever door) for your daughters plight
Please put the blame in the right place, the government hasn’t built any where near enough affordable housing, they sold off a lot of the council houses it’s I m afraid yet again a Tory made problem our country was built by Vikings, Romans, celts Anglo Saxons and every other you can think of building our roads/ towns etc etc
Why is your daughter homeless? Where has she been living ? What led to her losing her home ?
Not sure about this one. The local authority dont have to house an unmarried couple together I presume? Who qualifies for the supported housing? Are they in receipt of PIP? Where did they live before they were homeless? If your daughter needs supported living why can’t she be at home with you? Does your daughter have a social worker? Not sure what this has to do with people in small boats.

I know that I will be "flamed" for what I am about to write but I am so cross I care not.
My thirty something daughter and her boyfriend are currently homeless. They are unable, at present, to be housed because of housing shortage. What makes me so cross is that people who have never paid a penny into the community pot and most likely never will, are being housed and fed because they are exploiting the system and come into the country the back way.
Does it not strike anyone else that people whose ancestors helped to build our wealth and services are not considered as important because they did not sneak into the country on a small boat?
I am beyond furious.
