Gingster Tue 18-Jul-23 08:20:36

Good morning all and it’s a bit grey here in Essex.
I’m loving the cooler weather and feeling so sorry for holiday makers in Europe. 🥵. My ds1 has to go to Milan on Thursday for work meetings. ☄️

Yesterdays long lunch with my ‘old’ pal was lovely. 5 hours of chatting went by in a trice! How do we do it. We’ve booked a trip to Buckingham Palace in September to see the Coronation robes and carriage. Really looking forward to that.

Today I have Bridge Club and will take cakes as it’s my birthday at the weekend (GrannyGravy).
Dh is,at last, going to the hearing centre to have his ears syringed and hopefully sort out his hearing aids (which he never wears). 😤. It gets awfully draining keep repeating myself. 👂👂.

Yes I’m also intrigued by you living in Siberia Juliee. Is it a short term placement. ? Tell us more! 🤔.
Mick take it slowly if you venture out.
Mizuna enjoy your lunch with your son/sons.
Jacs7 I’m glad you’re enjoying Norfolk. We’ve visited all the places you mention . We often used to go .. A lovely county.

Take care everyone and I hope poorlies are feeling a little better each day. 🌸

Taichinan Tue 18-Jul-23 08:19:47

Good morning all from a much brighter morning on the Angus coast. Enjoy your outing, Mick - good that you're feeling well enough now to contemplate it.
Enjoy your 'special' time with your son Mizuna, and how interesting that you're writing a book together.
Glad your flooring is to your liking grandmattie and is being laid so efficiently.
On a whim yesterday afternoon I jumped in the car and went off to visit my niece and family to deliver birthday and un-birthday presents for my four great-great nieces and nephews. The oldest is 11 tomorrow. The others had birthdays in February, March and May which I managed to forget, hence the un-birthday presents as well. It was lovely to see everyone and immerse myself in all the different generations - although a bit confusing!
Today is Tai chi again - doesn't it come round quickly - and a milk and veg top-up shop. Then probably a much-needed afternoon of relaxing.
Thoughts as always with those going through harder times flowers
Have the best day you can everyone - and keep up the good fight against those pesky weeds!

Good morning from Shropshire.

So good to hear of improvements health wise for Mick and Marydoll🥳Take it easy you two!

I spent a lovely day with my friend yesterday but have been up being sick since about 1 this morning. Not sure if it was the food I ate or if it’s a bug which is going round DGD’s class.

We have had to cancel our trip to Stafford to collect B from school and our trip to Chester to see my mum tomorrow.I don’t want to risk passing anything on😷

Thoughts to all and have the best you can🦩🌺

Liberty Tue 18-Jul-23 08:10:38

Good morning from another sunny Suffolk day although we did have a little light rain yesterday afternoon. Washing in and hoping for another good drying day.

We are off to an interesting talk this afternoon in our nearest small market town, about 4 miles away. It is on the history of the fishing industry on the east coast and given by U3A. We are not members but believe such lectures are open to anyone who pays the small fee.

DH’s grandfather was a trawler skipper and he always says he has the sea in his blood. Perhaps that’s true as he loves cruising holidays, the best part for him being the days at sea.

Good to hear Mick that you feel up to a bus ride to Bicester. Hope you enjoy your time there.

Greyduster Tue 18-Jul-23 08:07:03

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better Mick. Dry in South Yorkshire at the moment. Today I get my hair cut at last! I can’t wait. My hairdresser has had surgery on her hand and is only just back in her salon.
I managed to cross the final frontier yesterday and got my printer set up for the laptop. Took most of the morning though. I had a small shopping trip yesterday and then spent a happy couple of hours with my niece and her little dog. On the way home a message flashed up in the car to say my tyre pressures needed checking so I suppose I’ll have to sort that out today.
Juliee a Siberian winter! Blimey! The epitome of winters, that.
Take care one, and all, and have the best day you can.

Grammaretto Tue 18-Jul-23 08:04:55

Good morning all from the beautiful Isle of Skye which is today bathed in sunshine, after rain.
I joined a poetry reading and a little highland hustle yesterday a Zumba class jumping about to music after a day of trying to speak Gaelic.
There's a concert tonight.
Well done on your efficiencygMattie no wonder you are a little tired. I would be very.

Glad things are improving Mick

I love to read all your tales from Cornwall to Siberia.

Marydoll Tue 18-Jul-23 08:01:33

Good morning all from Glasgow, where its only 10°C.

You seem to be on the mend, but just be careful Mick, I get the impression you haven't been out much, so far. You will be surprised how weak, you may feel, take a walking stick with you, if you have one.

GM, I'm so pleased to hear you are developing a social life, it takes courage to start afresh at our age, I couldn't do it.

I am having a quiet day, in preparation for the funeral tomorrow. I decided yesterday to look for a pair of dressy black shoes, I am ashamed to say I found five, 😊, a throwback from my teaching days but I don't think I will be able to walk in any of them! Let's just gloss over the number of black flats I found! 🤣

My PC my faithful friend has been acting up for ages and just when I was in the middle of some parish admin, it packed up totally.😡
After two hours faffing about, ( another two hours of my precious time lost) I managed to get it running again. DH was most impressed (as was I 😉), I felt quite pleased that I haven't lost my touch.
This time a week ago, I wouldn't be able to do so. Progress healthwise is being slowly made.

Yesterday DH accompanied me to collect my prescription, which I had put in last week. I'm a little unsteady on my feet, so he is wary of allowing me out on my own.
After queuing in the street, ( computers down) it was like during Covid days, we queued again inside the tiny pharmacy, which was being extended. I'm so glad DH was there to hang on to. Much to my dismay, the pharmacist came out to tell me that my GP had forgotten to sign one of my scripts, which happened to be a CD. 😡 There were so many of them, I checked the contents, but foolishly didn't check the signatures. A lesson learned.
Queue a phone call to the surgery, which is miles away. Thankfully, I have an appointment on Thursday, so will get it then.
What was strange, was that four different doctors had issued the scripts.

Wishing you all a pleasant day and good wishes and prayers for all, who are struggling. for a

GrannyGravy13 Tue 18-Jul-23 07:59:27

Morning all, pleased you are on the mend Mick
It’s overcast with rain forecast here in S E Essex. I have an appointment with the Dental Hygienist this morning (I am dental
Phobic) so unable to think any further.

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Nannagarra Tue 18-Jul-23 07:54:48

Good morning from Sefton.
We need to book in a couple of annual services, one of them that of the central heating system. Off the agenda will be gardening as the ground is too wet to weed borders and lawns remain a distant memory.
Enjoy your day Mick, a wish which goes to all who have and will follow him. Thinking of all those dealing with illness and worries.
🌻

monk08 Tue 18-Jul-23 07:50:39

Good morning all from the Black country very dull outside don't think there will be much change all day.
Got my tooth sorted but can't eat on the right side for 24hrs which stopped me nibbling the Dgs sweets I was eating chocolate when it broke.
Hairdressers today then back to finish my book unless DH has other plans.
Enjoy your day everyone whatever your plans, and may you all find some ☀️.

Jacs7 Tue 18-Jul-23 07:48:19

Good morning everyone from a sunny north Norfolk.

Yesterday was another very good day with a visit to Felbrigg Hall. Very pleasant House with informative guides, but the highlight of the visit was the walled garden. One of the best we have been to; stuffed full of wonderful plants and planting schemes. DH saw an innovative way of supporting tomato plants which he is keen to try out on his allotment.

Today we are off to Sandringham. I have sent a message to let them know I am on the way so hopefully a cup of tea and sticky bun will be ready to greet me!

Have a good day.

Foxygloves Tue 18-Jul-23 07:44:41

Good morning from N Bucks where it is looking grey. The forecast rain and thunder failed to materialise yesterday and it was a lovely day. I do think the Weather people might do better to go back to their piece of seaweed at the back door.
Eldest GS is coming for a few days as he has broken up a full fortnight before his younger brother and sister. He is such a pleasant young man (13) , the “Kevin” years have not yet kicked in and I just hope he is not bored by being with Granny.
I’m taking him to London tomorrow to the animals exhibition at the British Library and on Thursday might go to the new Mission Impossible or Indiana Jones film - not forgetting the 🍿 !
Thinking of those of you with especial worries or who are in pain, I hope today is kind to you

brook2704 Tue 18-Jul-23 07:34:13

Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve light grey cloud with even a bit of blue
Good to hear you’re gradually improving mick take care
I definitely need to get out into the garden today, yesterday afternoon was too wet but hopefully it’ll be a bit drier today. The annual battle with the weeds is ongoing and they’re winning just now.
Enjoy the birthday lunch with your son mizuna how lovely that you’re writing a book together too, hoping that’s going well
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Wyllow3 Tue 18-Jul-23 07:28:58

Good Morning from s Yorks

It's looking very overcast, daren't put the washing out.

Very tired after yesterdays journey, got the physio this morning and a F2F with my favourite GP this afternoon. And a little stock up, milk, veg etc.

Pittcity Tue 18-Jul-23 07:21:57

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. Dry today and 21°. Nice.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. We usually keep busy and only sit down for a short lunch break.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning all from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Good to hear that you’re feeling well enough for a trip out Mick.

It’s feeling rather Groundhog Dayish as I’m off to work today. Yesterday I had fifty two bags of donations which was challenging but we had a good day of sales. Children’s toys, games and books were popular, unsurprisingly given the weather.

Wishing everyone the best day possible, my thoughts as always with those of our number who are going through difficult times.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 18-Jul-23 06:56:46

Good morning from a sunny South Downs. Hope the wind is dying down.

Ironing and gardening is on the agenda today.

kitty I have a redundant water feature that I am thinking of bringing back to life - but only got as far as thinking about it! Not sure what size pump is needed - must do some research.

Veggie day today - so Mediterranean stuffed peppers.

karmalady Tue 18-Jul-23 06:50:07

Good morning, fresh cloudy day expected here, no rain.

A lovely day here yesterday, I am settling into my new group of friendly chatty people with smiling faces. My cycle ride was also enjoyable. I did some stretching before bed, upside down stuff. I got taller and slept better

A hill march today and this evening a prep for early morning cotton eco wash, a nice drying day is expected tomorrow and I am catching it.. I am also planning on a lovely bus ride that takes an hour tomorrow. The market will be on and there are lovely foods to be had and very interesting places to see from the bus

Otherwise, pottering and spinning today and I want to do some reading too

Have a good day

Ashcombe Tue 18-Jul-23 06:49:43

Good morning from a cloudy Torbay, where we arrived back safely yesterday morning.

I had time to go to my Move It or Lose It Class while DH walked to our nearer (small) Lidl for a few essentials. In the evening, our rehearsal for Dad’s Army was attended by our Chairman, whose laughter was most encouraging. Lines are becoming secure so it has more of a flow now.

Today I have an early blood test/BP appointment then back to the theatre for the usual Props session. An evening off tonight is welcome!

It’s good to hear you are feeling stronger, Mick. I hope you soon recapture your energy levels, grandMattie, but you have had a busy few weeks.

Have the best day you can and my thoughts are with our absent and unwell friends. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Good morning all from a North Leicestershire where there are some ominous dark clouds lurking.

Up at the crack of dawn (today as we have a lot going on. Our cleaners are here at 9, our gardener's father is coming to install our new water feature, DH has a blood test and the decorator is coming to quote for decorating the kitchen. Added to which, my friend has had yet another fall and has asked me to go and keep her company while her DH has dialysis.

Have the best day possible, everyone.

Mizuna Tue 18-Jul-23 06:40:19

Good morning from an overcast Cornwall. Enjoy your Bicester trip Mick, if you go - a bit of normality for you.

My eldest son's 42nd birthday today. He's like me, hates fuss, but has the day off, so we're meeting for coffee/lunch in Wetherspoons. How delicious to have him to myself. We're very close and writing a book together so will delve into that. My youngest son may join us unless he has a freelance job in Somerset. A bumper day if he comes too.

After buying four books at the charity shop yesterday, ooh inevitable grin, and eating teacakes with my daughter-in-law at the café there, I jumped on the first bus going in the opposite direction and ended up in Porthleven for an hour. Bracing and fun watching local children pier-jumping and a young mum and her brood swimming in the harbour, school uniforms left on the steps.

RosesandLilac Tue 18-Jul-23 06:40:14

I’m intrigued at your living in Siberia Juliee have you been there long?

grandMattie Tue 18-Jul-23 06:40:03

Good morning from Bristol. The clouds seem to be dissipating. We had lovely sunshine yesterday afternoon.
The floor men came well into the morning. This is the first time I’ve had tradesmen coming so late to do a job.
They launched themselves into the work, not stopping until 5ish as far as I can tell. Looks wonderful, even half done.
I had my last meal with DS, after which I went to my first WI meeting locally. The talk was ok, but I found the speaker a bit too smooth, rather arch…. Unfortunately, I was very tired and struggled to stay awake.
Once home, I joined one of the “inmates” in the sun, with a cuppa and a good old chinwag.
I had a quick meal on my lap as the table and chairs were hard to find…. I fell asleep in front of university challenge, went to bed soon after. I don’t know why I’m so very tired ATM; granted I don’t sleep well, but that hasn’t been a problem before.
Today, completion of the floor: furniture to move back in, “fragile and precious” stuff to replace awaiting tomorrow’s Ikea delivery - wardrobe.
Love and hugs to all especially Corner, Urms, kalu, gingster, Marydoll and everyone in distress.
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

RosesandLilac Tue 18-Jul-23 06:38:46

Good morning, it’s a dry start here too.
Yesterday I had to stay in for a doctor phone call about my medication, so did some chores while waiting, then went out in the garden and started weeding. Everything has shot up since having the rain!
DH dug out the ancient buddlia (can’t spell it!) that had split in the winds and rain at the weekend. There are others still for the butterflies.
I will tidy up the border today and I have some more plants to put out.
Meeting my sister for coffee first thing, we have hopefully a final document to sign then our parents estates will be sorted. It’s taken over three years because of the obstructive NC other sister (and cost a small fortune 😡). Hoping that’s it now.
Enjoy the day 🌹
