How to remove Blu-tac from cardi?

I accidentally leant the elbow of a knitted cardigan on a lump of Blu-tac and it is completely embedded in the fibres. I have picked off as much as I can, but it is still sticky. Any suggestions of a solvent that might work, or will washing dissolve it? I haven't tried washing so far as sometimes this will set a substance rather than softening it.
Thanking you in advance.

I am sure that the BluTack packaging has instructions on removing it from clothing but as I no longer have the packaging I am unable to help further; perhaps google BluTack and ask for advice from their customer services??

That is what I thought, and that is what my link recommends.

Thank you all for your replies. I have removed it gently with cooking oil and it is now in the washing machine.

For future reference - I once sat on some Blu - tac with my big fat bottom and it embedded itself into my dress .

And how !

I tried the freezer method .

Then , I used warmed up white vinegar to remove the rest - hot is recommended , but if your jumper is wool or a wool mix it's not a great method ?

My dress was cotton and a close weave fabric so it could take it .

I hope that no damage was done with the oil method .
