Large supermarkets and customer care

I had reason to contact my well known supermarket about a discrepancy in my home delivery. I eventually got through to a real person on the phone who was less than helpful. She was not interested in what I had to say as I kept repeating that her response was unacceptable and I remained dissatisfied. So much so that she terminated the call. Next step was to email customer care who to date have not had the courtesy to reply. Why do these big supermarkets not seem bothered when things go wrong. What is the point of a customer care team who clearly don't care. Has anyone else had similar problems?

Easy as pie! Waitrose just gave me a replacement pack of tenderstem broccoli. No complaints there 😄

Yes, but you had to go to the trouble of taking it back.

At one time Tesco would give you your money back and a replacement item if something was wrong but I don't think they do that any more.

On this occasion, Callistemon21, it was no trouble. The shop is in Ponteland (please pronounce Pon-tee-land! Emphasis on the tee! in Northumberland, here in England), and I was going there anyway. However, I agree it's a bit much if you have to return things in person. Fortunately, there were no headless broccoli spears in the replacement pack!

After I saw an awfully inappropriate magazine in Tesco, I complained, however I was dealt with rudely and the matter was not processed.

Shops just don’t care about customers service anymore.

In my experience the magazines Tesco sell are no worse than you would find in a newsagent’s and they are not going to act on the complaint of one offended customer. Far worse materials are available on the high street.
