Good morning from a very rainy Black Country, after a fairly sunny day yesterday where we ate our evening meal outside last night!

I have a Mammogram this morning, so I will miss my Monday walk.

DD and family are due to go to Corfu Friday, but they have decided not to go. Sad for the girls to miss their holiday, but it is for the best. Their friends are already on the Island and have been evacuated. Just hoping it will all be under control soon. We emailed the owners of the property we stay at Lindos, and they said they are fine so far.

I hope H will be ok Susan such a worry for you all.

Wishing you all the best day possible

Good morning from a grey and damp Suffolk. Yesterday was much better than forecast, warmer and dry until late evening. So pleased for those at the nearby festival.

We had a lovely lunch at DS’s and a walk with their little puppy who is very good on her lead and DGS3 on his bike, plus the rest of us on foot. Her birthday biscoff cake was stunning, made by a young lady at DS’s work.

Today a quiet day in prospect before the week gets busier with various things on each day.

Hope those with illness in their family find some comfort today.

Gingster Mon 24-Jul-23 08:09:00

Good morning all and rain is imminent.
No rain yesterday and very warm
We had the family here which was lovely. Lots of catching up and chatting.
gD4 has been given the role of ‘Flounder’ in an upcoming Little Mermaid show. 120 auditioned for various parts so she is super excited. Her sister will be in it as a background performer.

We are heading up to our Suffolk hideaway today for , hopefully, a couple of weeks. The weather is due to be ‘orrible’ but we don’t care. A change of scene and peace and quiet is just the job.

Poor little H. Hope he’s ok? 🙏.

Enjoy the day all who can and thoughts to poorlies and worried grans . Take each day as it comes. 🌸

If it’s any consolation Marydoll this happened to me twice when I was on holiday a few weeks ago. It panicked me (easily done) into thinking there was a bigger issue I’d missed. In fact it was a case of crossed wires.
I very much hope this applies to you.

Mizuna Mon 24-Jul-23 08:16:58

Marydoll I had a bone-chilling voicemail from the gynae section of our main hospital a week after I'd had a cervical smear asking me to make contact asap. They were just checking my address! Hope all goes well for you.

ginny Mon 24-Jul-23 08:18:44

Good morning. More rain overnight and although it is dry at the moment there is more to come .
Bits and bobs to do this morning . Then this afternoon I am going to a silk painting class with another lady from our WI.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

EkwaNimitee Mon 24-Jul-23 08:27:24

Good morning Mick and everyone from sunny Carlisle. It rained ceaselessly yesterday so it was a pottering indoors day, not that I was bothered about that.

Today I am about to pop into town to collect a regular prescription and buy one or two bits and bobs. I may well cast my eyes over the rails in M&S as I have a gift token to spend. I can get some new gear with a clear conscience! I shall probably wait till the autumn stock comes in though as I have an over supply of summer clothing and I have for the last week or two been back in a wool sweater...

I will return to do some housework and laundry.

WWW....you might be interested in reading a book by the climate activist Assaad Razzouk 'Saving the Planet without the Bullshit' or 'What they don't tell you about the climate crisis'.
Some shocking facts in there that we lay people don't get to hear about. There is a chapter about 'going vegan...don't bother'.....

Have the best possible day everyone.

Good morning from Durham. Arrived home in torrential rain after a delayed flight - the garden appears to have taken a battering and is in urgent need of work!
Back to my ‘routine’ of coffee with 2 friends this morning, then I’ll be wielding the secateurs later.
Good advice Mick to arm yourself with a written list of things you want to discuss.
I hope your telephone call isn’t as bad as you fear it might be Marydoll
Best wishes to all. X

Wyllow3 Mon 24-Jul-23 08:34:24

Good Morning from S Yorks - let's just say St Swithin's day is being truly marked here by more or less constant rain. Long for some sun but...

got an early Zoom then hopefully a little swim at the gym.

Best wishes for poorlies and especially phone calls, appointments: enjoy visits and dont over do the housework just cos you are stuck indoors...

Good morning all from Argyle where it’s overcast just now.

Yesterday was a gloriously sunny day and we decided that we were quite comfortable where we were so spent the day in the garden of our cottage which is in the centre of the holiday village. The children ran back and forth from the playground and tennis courts and the adults read and chatted all day.

The children plan to take the kayak out on the loch today. More reading for me I think.

I hope H isn’t hurting too much Susan.

Have the best day possible everyone.

hollysteers Mon 24-Jul-23 08:37:39

Good morning Mick and all from Sunnyside northwest coast. We have had biblical rain for the last few days and a local open air music festival washed out. Feel sorry for them, even though it’s not my cup of tea.
Out to lunch with old friend in restaurant in nice old country house. His turn to pay. He can talk for England so will brace myself. He had a cataract op and waiting for another, so I’m picking him up.
Going to phone the doc to have a couple of moles checked out.

Hope all is well Susan and thoughts to all with worries.

Susan56 Mon 24-Jul-23 08:44:18

Thank you for all your concern for H.

I have heard from DD.H has had a good nights sleep and seems more like himself this morning.Battered and bruised but hopefully no lasting effects from his accident🤞🏻

Apparently after administering immediate first aid the manager of the shop told DD and SIL that the shop had cctv if they were thinking of suing🤷‍♀️

luluaugust Mon 24-Jul-23 08:48:58

Good morning from a grey W Kent. Busy day as DD1 and family arrive for a holiday stay. It is many years since we have had them all I just hope we are up to it. Do they know how early we crawl into bed!!!
Mick hope your appointment goes well and likewise your call with the Doc is alright Marydoll
Susan what a horrible thing to happen hope H is ok.
Best wishes to all.

harrigran Mon 24-Jul-23 09:04:36

Good morning from the NE where we have gale force winds.
Yesterday was horrible with heavy rain and so dark had to have the lights on all day, the central heating was on all day too. DD and SIL came early afternoon, we had coffee and cake and DD started planning outings for our holiday in August. She reserved tables in a couple of popular restaurants to ensure that we would be able to dine out.
We had a long leisurely dinner, melon and prosciutto ham, roast gammon with new potatoes, carrots and green beans and my mushroom sauce. DD had the veggie equivalent. We had a very decent Chassagne montrachet 2016. Dessert was strawberries and cream.
After dinner we discussed our pending holiday again as the next time I see DD will be just before we leave.
DS sent a message last night to say that he had flu like symptoms and hoped he hadn't passed anything on as eight of us were together all day Saturday.

Today the courier is to return to collect the furniture, we checked the CCTV and he had not come to the door on Friday as he claimed, not one van entered the street the entire day nor did anyone walk down my drive.
Thinking of those with poorly relatives.

Morning from sunny but chilly S Lanarkshire. I had a lovely weekend with my friend in Seamill. Lots of chat and laughter, other than Saturday morning unexpectedly sunny weather, walks along the beach etc.
My friend kindly watched mass with me from my favourite online church in Ireland. The priest gives an excellent and uplifting sermon, he’s been in the parish for seventeen years and is not a young man and the people have been shocked this weekend to hear he is being moved in September. At his age it seems very harsh to ask him to put roots down elsewhere.

What a fright Susan, children and escalators are a nerve racking combination.

Your holiday sounds delightful baubles, good decision about the kayaking!

Today I’m collecting various clothes which needed alterations and then a catch up lunch with a couple of friends.

Sending good wishes to everyone, especially those who need them most.

glammagran Mon 24-Jul-23 09:12:00

Good morning all. Pretty dreadful weekend here weather wise. DD3, partner and friends went to an outdoor 90’s music event on Saturday evening where it rained non stop. We had GC aged 2 and 4 overnight. It was the first time for DGS2 and we were worried he would be terribly unsettled but both were absolutely fine. However, dinner was a nightmare. Lesson learned - I will never sit them beside each other again. They had a screaming contest (who could scream the loudest) and we just could not make them stop. DGD3 hates mashed potato which DGS2 was trying to force into her mouth 😱. I had a sleep yesterday afternoon which is unheard of.

Today will be a day of recovery. Tomorrow DGS2 and on Wednesday DGD3 who breaks up from school today. We don’t usually look after them together as they fight.

Wishing everyone a good day. When if at all, will summer return?

Grammaretto Mon 24-Jul-23 09:23:15

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders. Chilly and windy again but dry.
After a very lazy weekend I intend to leap into action today. Not early, as you can see, but determined.
I have a long list of things to do.

Sorry to read of H's accident Susan. Glad he's ok

Very lucky escape for your family NannyJan . I hope the friends are alright
Apparently those fires were started deliberately. Beggar's belief.

I hope everything turns out fine Marydoll
Thoughts are with Kalu and Urms and all who are struggling.

oliversnana Mon 24-Jul-23 09:27:33

Good morning from a wet melton mowbray.
kittylester it was flooding when we were on our way here for babysitting duties and to drop dgd to her aunties this morning.

GrannySomerset Mon 24-Jul-23 09:41:42

Bed changing day though not much chance of drying outside this week if forecast is to be believed. Currently not raining but the clouds suggest it won’t be long.

The village high street, the only road through, is closed all week for new mains pipes to be laid so life will be very complicated. May be simplest not to go anywhere at all! How will the essential local co-op be resupplied? We will have to travel three sides of a square to get out, but doubtless will survive.

glammagran Mon 24-Jul-23 09:51:32

SusanH what an awful shock it must have been for H. I’m glad he’s feeling ok-ish today. Reminds me of DGS1 who did something similar when he was 7. The family were living in Hong Kong and they were on a down escalator at an underground station when he jumped off as it approached the bottom and broke his foot. In that instance it was his fault.

Blossoming Mon 24-Jul-23 10:01:05

Good morning everyone from sunny Lancashire. I hope your appointment goes well Mick.

Yesterday was another quiet day, I managed to shred a heap of old documents. Today there is laundry to do and a walk, weather permitting. Also a slow cooker curry to prepare for tonight, as my stomach has been behaving itself lately.

I hope H is ok Susan, what a nasty accident.

Hope it’s something trivial Marydoll, those sort of phone calls worry me too.

Same weather here Holly, I have cabin fever.

Thinking of Kalu, Urm, Baggs and all who are dealing with illness right now.

Have a good day all 🌻

Taichinan Mon 24-Jul-23 10:10:39

Good morning Mick and all. Another cool 🥶 day on the Angus coast. You just have to grasp each time the sun breaks through and run outside, but the wind doesn't make it pleasant. Mind you, rather this than the fires they are having in Greece, poor souls.
Your holiday sounds lovely baubles - I love 'family watching' while reading a book!
Glad to hear H has bounced back this morning Susan, as only a child can. But sue?! Just a nasty and unfortunate accident surely. Fancy management suggesting it!
Dancing GD was performing in Newcastle yesterday, but I gave that one a miss. Next stop the Edinburgh Fringe then down to earth and return to College for her degree year. She certainly loves performing on stage so let's hope there's something for her 'out there' in the future. A very uncertain career path.....
Nothing at all to report from here, just a day of this and that and a necessary trip out for milk.
Enjoy your day, at home or away, and be ready to catch the sun ☀️ when it shows x

Grandmachrisy47 Mon 24-Jul-23 10:30:19

After 24 hours of rain, we have sunshine! One load of washing out, another in machine. Hope it doesn’t rain again. School holidays so no childcare or do sitting 👏 for while.
After a swift push round of the vacuum cleaner I’ll do half an hour on exercise bike. Out for an early dinner again tonight.
Hope everyone has a good day, especially Marydoll and Mick 🤞for you. Glad H is ok Susan. Happy travels to those on the move. Thought with Urms, Kalu and Baggs.

aggie Mon 24-Jul-23 10:36:44

Good morning everyone, overcast but I was brave and the washing is on the line !
Maybe a quick sorte’ for groceries later , nothing planned
The seem to be digging up the side street here , I can see “road closed “ signs going up from my bedroom window

Juliee Mon 24-Jul-23 11:45:50

Good morning from a cooler Siberia. It is a bit stormy today, and autumn is in the air. Summer is short here))
I went to the gym, for a long walk, had a lesson, cleaned the school and am now in a cafe. I am working tonight.
A bit of a dull day to be honest as I haven't seen any friends today(
Never mind, tomorrow is another day!
Have a good day everyone!
