That Greg Wallace thingy was disgusting, glad I didn’t watch it to the end.

I thought it would be a good idea to get gransnet users to all complain to ofcom tomorrow, get it pulled from the tv forever.

This disgusting rubbish doesn’t need to be viewed by anyone, ever.

Cheers and a massive thanks to all who have already complained wine thanks

Oh no...

Oopsadaisy1 Wed 26-Jul-23 10:19:14

Can’t stand the man and don’t eat meat, so it wasn’t something that I would ever watch.
And I also have a remote to switch it off.

I just can't understand the strong reaction to it - from people who regularly eat meat.

Er - what about all those poor kids who find out (eventually) that they've been fed four month old baby piglets/lambs/chickens??

Exactly.

I don't watch anything with him in if I can help it, I find him a very unappealing presenter, heaven knows how he got a TV career going in the first place. Didn't watch the programme in question, the title alone would be enough to put me off without him as wellshock

Absolutely agree. Can't stand him.

Kids don’t watch terrestrial tv. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Knowing a lot about what my grandchildren watch, this is tame.

Only thing the neighbours grandkids and kids watch is terrestrial tv. Late in the nights by the sound of it.

I can't understand what your beef is, so to speak. Was it the idea that you thought human meat was eaten, or that the programme was a spoof?

If it were true that such meat existed I think it would be a good idea to inform the public.

What are you disgusted by?

(funny that, from the title 'Joint complaint squad' - I almost gave it a miss, thinking it was all about arthritis!)

Haha, so did I! Seriously though, it was satire - if you're offended, there's a thing called an off switch.

Foxygloves Wed 26-Jul-23 08:02:34

So, a satire.
Just as well we didn't storm Television Centre waving our knitting and our crochet hooks then- we'd have looked pretty silly!
(Smugly I try to swerve Greg Wallace at the best of times anyway!)

Visgir1 Wed 26-Jul-23 08:02:17

I too can't understand why Wallace is on TV either he's dreadful he shouts not speaks.
Anything he's in is an instant turn off in this household.

It was a spoof mocumentary in the science fiction genre.

In the satirical spirit of Jonathan Swift

Terri Wallace’s continuing career has me entirely baffled too.
He started off as a grocer and due to that got a slot years ago with another presenter on a R4 show called Veg Talk, which was a surprise hit.

How he ended up as an expert on Master Chef I’ll never know.

He and Torrode don’t get on at all.

Does anyone actually like him?

Jaxjacky Wed 26-Jul-23 07:44:53

I didn’t watch it as I knew it was a spoof beforehand having read a review and it held no interest. As for children watching it, mine had their watching supervised when younger, older ones may have found it similar to other fantasy programmes.
I won’t be complaining, we choose what we watch.

Poor review in The Telegraph.

I get in now - it’s like Jonathan Swift’s ‘A Modest Proposal’.

I was hoping that it was written by the brilliant Charlie Brooker, but it’s not. A pity

Oh, I think that is sounds quite good actually. I think that I’ll have to watch it before I pass further comment.

Does anyone remember the famous spoof documentary ‘Ghost Watch’?
It featured Sarah Greene, Mike Smith and Michael Parkinson.

I remember watching that and being scared witless.

FannyCornforth Wed 26-Jul-23 05:16:23

I haven’t watched it as I won’t watch anything with that gurning, talentless fool in it.

The DM Weekend magazine with the TV guide in it had him on the cover (gurning, natch), so I had to rip it off immediately.

I understand that the show was a spoof.

What was it a spoof of?

What was the point of it?

Was it a critique of the meat industry or something?

I found it odd but no worse than many other things on TV.

Haven’t seen anything like that yet (except deadpool, similarly disgusting)
