It is being reported today, that The Treasury and Nat Wests board have backed her all along. It is Sunak and Hunt who have pressurised her to go and have now caused consternation amongst bank officials because Sunak failed to follow due process, and in doing so has damaged U.K. plc.

Rachel Reeves rightly called out the bullying of Ms Rose.

Exactly the reasons Lathyrus gives.
She was the Chief Executive and the buck stopped with her.
She ignored the likelihood of this being high profile and that Farage would contest, which is exactly what happened.
She condoned the fact that Farage was given no explanation for his account's closure, and appeared not to have even considered the possibility that he had the right to demand this information.
She may have been appointed to encourage diversity, inclusion and equality, but has clearly taken this to extreme lengths and antagonised many customers.

It is right that she resigned, she broke client confidentiality, how would you feel if someone at your bank told others of your financial situation and closed your account because they did not agree with your politics?

Even the lowliest bank clerk knows from Day 1 at work that the most important part of their job is confidentiality! If they don’t comply it is instant dismissal.

She was paid a massive £5.2 million per annum so yes she made a massive mistake and should have been sacked so resigning was the right thing to do.

I could reply to growstuff’s post about it not being illegal nor unethical but I am not going to waste my breath because they are just trying to get a final jab in to Nigel Farage, because all their other false comments about him over the last week have been disproved.

Heading an organisation, and presumably approving, the drawing up of dossiers on a number of clients, examining their political views and personal values. And then approving the “debanking” of those clients whose views were not in agree with herself and members of the board.

Mistake? I wouldn’t call it that.

She is guilty of a major error of judgment. She deserves what has happened to her. I would feel exactly the same whatever the gender of a person who made this poor judgment.

She was paid £5.25m p.a. (or so OH tells me) If she didn't know she should keep client confidentiality, she should have. It's a very basic mistake and tbh I don't care what gender she is but I do care that she is paid so much by a bank that is partly owned by the tax payer!

Nothing to do with male politicians pushing her out; it is her own incompetence that has done this. She was promoted far above her abilities and for the wrong reasons, to promote ESG, and has brought the Bank into severe disrepute.

It was right that she resigned for speaking to the BBC. However, closing Farage's account was neither illegal nor unethical.

How many female board members are there?

Woman or not, her gender is really irrelevant, is she not culpable for her own ridiculous mistake and lack of discretion? Discussing any customer's account is a breach of confidentiality, not a minor mistake at all. She was the CEO and behaved like a stupid loose tongued gossip

Male Politicians weren’t the only people at that meeting that went on until 2 in the morning. Board members were also there.
She damaged their brand, end of.
