Is Summer over?

It’s been a lovely day here in Foxyland, - sunny but with a pleasantly fresh breeze. But even at its warmest there seemed to be an undercurrent of Autumn approaching. It’s as if the seasons come earlier these days- that very hot early Summer a month or so ago and now it’s beginning to turn even although it is still July.
The evenings are getting dark that little bit earlier too.
Not that I mind! Even if we have an Indian Summer (to prove me wrong) I still don’t think we’re likely to suffer another heatwave.
But watch this space ☀️☀️☀️ hmm

I go into the garden with the dogs about 6.30 am. This week has an autumnal feel.
It’s had a definite chill.

I remember about 3or 4 days of hot sunshine, weeks ago, but here in Lancashire its rained more or less every day since! (More really)🌧 I went on weather site and tracked it to middle of september when its supposed to get sunny but im not putting money on it🤣😂

Ìt 'brightened up' slightly yesterday for 2hours (still breezy though) but thats all.sun gone again now and its usually so chilly here we still having to heat homes up a bit as night falls, so we cant save on the gas!🫤

I’m really fed up with it now. It’s been again raining all day here, it’s not even fit to go into town to drop off a picture I want framing because it will get ruined before I get to the framers. 😠

South Hampshire, it’s dull, damp and cold, supposed to improve tomorrow for a couple of days. I’m normally in shorts and flip flops, not jeans and a jumper!

I worked in a school and the first day back after the summer holidays always seemed to 'smell' differently - outside that is, not the actual school! I opened the door yesterday and there was that 'smell' again. So ... yes, it must be autumn. (Hope not though, we have 2 weeks in the Lake District in September.)

Oooh, I hope that weather site is right. We're having 2 weeks in the Lake District in mid-September!

North West England. We've been told that Summer will be well and truly back tomorrow. Cloudless skies and 28°.

However this is only going to be a 24 hour summer. Shame really, but better than nothing

North west - I have a dog Walker tuesday and Thursday. She’s just text to say thursday will be hot so can she walk my dog early morning instead of afternoon
Hurrah - it’s lovely at the moments sunny and warm but as other lancs posters have said -we have had so much rain ☔️

Me too

Never out of jumpers here, even on warm days, as our house is always cool.

This morning car thermom reading was 9º when I got in to go to work. We had our best summery weather the second half of May and early June.

September is often nice 🤞

It’s set to warm up on 15th - just when our children go back to school in NE Scotland. I think we’ve had rain every day of the school holidays. I don’t mind for myself but the poor parents.

silverlining48 Tue 08-Aug-23 20:15:03

We have two days of summer forecast for tomorrow and Thursday! Hooray.

Bright and sunny this morning - but only 14.9 outside the kitchen window just now. Feels September-ish!
