Would appear I forgot to post after reading the thread earlier! Lovely to hear all the positive vibes today - so glad Mr C is making good progress after his long-awaited op, Marydoll is feeling brighter now that she's been out more and Bluesapphire is enjoying her cruise.
Nothing to report from here except that it seems to be another typical September day. Whatever became of August? Perhaps we'll get it later in the year!
Enjoy your Sundays everyone and look for the sunshine between the clouds x

Blossoming Sun 30-Jul-23 11:21:11

A very quick good morning from sunny Lancashire.

Pleased to see you’re improving Mick and very glad to hear good news from you Cornergran.

Must dash, have a wonderful Sunday all, whatever you may be doing 🌻🌻🌻

GrannySomerset Sun 30-Jul-23 09:58:01

Church not till 11.00 am today and this afternoon a Spanish celebration for the oldies. Terrible forecast so we won’t be able to be outside but should still be great fun.

Glad to hear that MrC is making progress and hope that Cornergran can navigate the next few days/weeks with good support.

Thorntrees Sun 30-Jul-23 09:45:18

Good morning.
So glad to hear Mr Corner is doing well.
Just cut the lawn as rain is forecast for later.
No real plans for today but cricket to watch and the Grand Prix this afternoon.
Have a bit of ironing so might do that after coffee.
Wishing everyone a calm and peaceful Sunday whatever your plans.

Good morning from a wet West York's we were going to local gala but think it may be cancelled its in field so it will be very muddy 🙄 it will be disappointing day . Nothing else planned for today roast beef later . Thoughts are with those with worries.

Sar53 Sun 30-Jul-23 09:01:15

Good morning from the Essex coast where the sun is shining at the moment.
We will go our for breakfast soon then a visit to DH's eldest daughter who had a birthday yesterday.
No other plans today.
I'm pleased that MrC is doing well.
Have a pleasant day everyone xx

Liberty Sun 30-Jul-23 08:57:08

BlueSapphire…we are on your ship on 11th August for an 11 day cruise around the British Isles sailing from Tilbury. Our paths won’t quite cross as you’ll have disembarked probably before we leave home!

Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Jacs7 Sun 30-Jul-23 08:54:40

Good morning everyone from north kent; supposed to be a bit of rain and some sun today, but we shall see.

Yesterday was taken up with finishing my book and trailing around doing some of the housework I have been avoiding. I had a headache and sore arm from my shingles jab, but some vigorous dusting and hoovering helped.

A couple of hours planned in the garden this morning. I am hoping to cut the grass before the next lot of showers and dead head the dahlias which are all doing well. DH is on his regular morning visit to his allotment. Lots of produce being harvested; after a slow start Nature seems to be making up time.

Glad to hear MrC is doing well. Enjoy your cruise BlueSapphire.

Hope you all have a good day.

ginny Sun 30-Jul-23 08:54:26

Good morning everyone. Blue sky in N. Bucks , at the moment.
Pleased to see Mr C is recovering well.
It is our youngest daughter’s birthday today. We shan’t see her as she is away on holiday but will FaceTime her and family later.
Inspired by a few people here I set to to sort out my kitchen cupboards yesterday. Throw out things I never use and ordered some new bakeware to replace the tins and trays that needed to be retired after a long and busy working life.
No plans for today but may start on some preparations for craft club projects.
Wishing all a pleasant day.

Good morning all from damp South Lanarkshire.

Delighted to hear good news from you Cornergran, and pleased you’re gradually getting back into your routine Mick.

The sickness DSiL which attributed to his lobster meal the other day turned out to be a nasty stomach bug as two of the GC succumbed to it overnight on Friday, poor souls. When DH heard about that yesterday he told me that he wasn’t feeling 100%, which, I’m ashamed to say, I put down to the power of suggestion but sure enough yesterday evening he was struck by it. I’m staying at home today and missing Mass as I’d hate to risk passing on any horrid bugs.

Your cruise sounds interesting Blue, enjoy your trip today.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Nannagarra Sun 30-Jul-23 08:41:00

Good morning from cloudy Sefton.
I’m pleased to hear Mick and Mr. Cornergran are on the mend, and thinking of those others who read and benefit from knowing how much support they have here on GN.
Mr. G wanted to go out, use his new camera, but the weather forecast isn’t promising, Housework appears more likely.
May everyone find some thing which raises a smile today.

Good morning Mick and all from a breezy northwest coast. Glad to hear you are enjoying your normal routine again Mick.

As the trains were striking, we took a taxi yesterday from the train line that wasn’t striking to the country house for a visit. Somewhere along the way, I lost one of my debit cards. I didn’t realise until after the enjoyable visit, including lunch. Some b***er spent over £70 in a local hostelry, but the bank have refunded it. Lots of faffing about…I thought we might meet up with my DS who lives nearby the mansion, but what with the card and my friend’s tiredness and anxiousness about his eyes (detached retina and cataracts) which have put years on him, I returned home and fell asleep in the chair..
Quiet day today.

Get well soon MrC and thoughts to Urms Kalu and all with worries 🌹

Gingster Sun 30-Jul-23 08:34:41

Good morning all and it’s bright but breezy here at the Suffolk seaside. Only a short shower yesterday after we rushed to get the sheets off the line.

We had a long walk through the forest yesterday. A bit too long for Dh but I’m trying to push him! It was so refreshing , cool and tranquil.
He went to footie in the afternoon and I read my new Maggie O’Farrell book. I love her writing.

I’ve done something to my thumb! It’s amazing how much you use a thumb! You don’t realise until it’s so painful . 🙄.

Today I’ll sort out bedding for our visitors and clean nooks and crannies. (Good job we have visitors sometimes) . Living by the sea creates a lot of sandy mess and salty windows.

Hoping all those not feeling the best are on the up.
Best to Mr.C. 🙏.

Bluesapphire we’ve been on that cruise and loved it. Enjoy!

Take care all 🌸

Stilllearning Sun 30-Jul-23 08:32:50

Good morning from rainy S Lanarkshire, yesterday was funny here, bright sunshine interspersed with short sharp downpours. Washing in and out all day. Lots of indoor cleaning done too as I get ready for my holiday on Thursday. I feel it’s a continuation of my holiday if I come home to a clean home!

Church this morning then preparation continues as well as a visit this afternoon to a friend whose short term memory is deteriorating. Her husband is great company and we always have a good laugh together. His domestic role has greatly increased but they both seem to accept their changing lives philosophically.

Good to hear the news about the corners and I hope the travelling isn’t too tiring.

Enjoy your happy week with your Cambridge family brook, it will be lovely for all the cousins to be together.
Your family holiday sounded lovely too baubles, by the look of the forecast I think you picked the best week.

Good luck with your new helpers Grammaretto, another energetic lady with an interesting life!

It’s taken me ages to type this so probably lots of posts I’ve not read so I’ll wish everyone a good day and catch up over breakfast.

aggie Sun 30-Jul-23 08:31:29

Good morning from an everchanging Co Armagh, yesterday we had hot sun , sharp showers, hailstones and a fierce wind ! So far it looks better ,
I hope to get to Mass without a raincoat
Daughter is doing a roast dinner this evening so it will be light rations today until evening
It is great to hear of health improvements , I’ll keep the candles going today ☺️

Wyllow3 Sun 30-Jul-23 08:26:52

Good Morning from S Yorks, where it's overcast and the weather will be an unpredictable sun/rain mix.

Good to hear from you Cornergran.

Probably the Quakers and hopefully a little swim today.

Gala Sun 30-Jul-23 08:26:31

Good morning all. Breezy & cloudy - with bits of blue - here in Sefton. Rain forecast for this afternoon. Oh joy!
A lovely day out with DS2 & family in the grounds of a local NT property. The weather was kind, games, balance bikes & art materials on offer for children & croquet for adults. Carvery for lunch. It fair wore me out. Went to bed at 9 & slept right through to 7.30. Result!
Food shop this morning, the fridge is empty. This afternoon's proposed (heavy duty) garden session will likely be rained off.... oh dear, will have to settle for reading the papers.
Good to hear Mick & Mrcorner & making progress along their roads to recovery.

BlueSapphire Sun 30-Jul-23 08:22:45

glammagran, indeed I am on Spirit of Adventure! I was on Discovery last year, and shall be on Adventure again next April (in the same cabin!).
Much prefer the decor on Adventure, it is much brighter
Being looked after so well
.

harrigran Sun 30-Jul-23 08:19:10

Good morning from a sunny NE, it actually stayed dry all day yesterday.
The workmen arrived to resurface the road but the man up the street left his four cars on the road so they laid the tarmac round them 🤨
I had a quiet day, spent some time in the garden with my crossword.
SIL coming this afternoon and will probably assemble the furniture that arrived on Friday. We will have dinner together, duck legs tonight.
Good news about Mr Corner.
Thoughts are with all poorly people and their carers.

Marydoll Sun 30-Jul-23 08:09:07

Good morning all from a wet Glssgow, where it is 12°C.
Good to hear you are making progress Mick.

Positive news about Mr C, I am delighted.

I spent yesterday trying to solve the parish IT issues, that and my busy week have caught up with me! My cough is driving me mad. I'm breathless and my chest is so congested, that I had to come out of Mass last night.
I was seriously irritating people! 😔 Dollie kept looking at me and patting my arm. 😍

DH commented that although I am struggling, my spirits have greatly lifted, due to my busyness. No time to wallow nor dwell on things. So many people have stopped me to say they are glad to see me back and have missed me, it's good to know that I am not yet redundant.

Poor DH got into such a fangle yesterday, trying to urgently buy new golf shoes. To his horror the sole fell off during his game on Friday.
He is not a shopper and was getting very stressed trying to cope when asked for a security code. He had no idea what that meant. It turned out he had chosen the landline for the security code to be sent too! 🤣 Why does he never listen? 😡
I suggested we start again and I buy them. A few minutes later, they were purchased, with no issues.
He commented that only a professional shopper could have achieved such a speedy result. 😉

I received a surprise appointment yesterday for an echocardiogram at the local hospital ( which is not where attend). I have absolutely no idea who initiated it. It could be my GP or one of the two different cardiologists, whose waiting lists I am on, therefore I do not know who to contact for the results. I had one in hospital in January, so it will be good to know of any changes.
It is positive news, because it may give a better picture of what is going on.

Some sewing alterations need completed today and I need to pop down to church for an hour to support the young sacristan, who has been covering the weekend. No physical effort required from me.
As I've said before, he has autism and can't cope with the many people, who pop in and out of the sacristy between masses. It becomes very noisy and overwhelming even for me.

I'm sure Bluesapphire is enjoying being spoiled on her cruise and Greyduster enjoy the christening.
Grammaretto, I hope that cold comes to nothing!
DS2 asked DD to be godmother to Babydoll yesterday. She is so chuffed, especially as DS and she have fought like cat and dog, since she knocked him down the pecking order, when she was born.
DD was in babycare for a while and when I brought her home from hospital, two year old DS stood with his hands on his hips, glaring at her! 💚💚💚💚💚😡

I have put my foot down. Takeaway for us tonight, I am tired thinking up meals and basically I can't be bothered!

Have a pleasant Sunday folks especially all, those carrying a heavy load.

Ali23 Sun 30-Jul-23 08:03:33

Good morning from Leicester where the sun is out at the moment.

Mick, it is so good to hear that you’re gradually getting back to your normal routine.

Corner, glad to hear that Mr C is almost out of HDU.

We have friends coming today who we haven’t seen for a few years. I’m really looking forward to it!

Happy Sunday everyone 😊

Liberty Sun 30-Jul-23 08:00:56

Good morning from a bright Suffolk. We’ve had lovely sunny evenings for the last few days and changing weather during the day.

DH sorted out my iPad yesterday. He is patient and methodical which usually resolves problems( unlike me who tends to rush and panic).

Paperwork to read today in preparation for a long meeting on Wednesday. I can’t read it too long in advance as I’d forget some of the details! I have busy days planned for tomorrow and Tuesday.

Good to hear from Corner about MrC’s progress and hoping that she doesn’t find the daily journeys to the hospital too tiring for the next few days.

Hope today is a good one for all and those with worries find some comfort.

Jaxjacky Sun 30-Jul-23 08:00:30

Morning from blue sky in S Hants, rain due later. Yesterday was a quiet one, newspaper and garden, we had a few showers and wind. Veg are now producing, tomatoes, courgettes and cucumbers.
Today a walk before the rain, crossword, pork for dinner.
Good to hear from you corner and pleased your DH is doing well.
Thinking of others with challenges, Urms Kalu and Baggs.
🦩🦩

GrannyGravy13 Sun 30-Jul-23 08:00:04

Morning all, mixed weather here in S E Essex like yesterday.

I am having a lazy day, nothing in my diary yippee! DH has a hospital appointment, doesn’t need me with him. So it’s sofa and kindle till I begin preparing roast beef later (we eat earlier on a Sunday 6.30/7pm)

Pleased MrC is improving Cornergran

Sending (((Hugs))) to dear Urmstongran along with other poorly Goodmorningers and their families.

Have a peaceful Sunday folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

glammagran Sun 30-Jul-23 07:59:41

Yesterday the weather was far better in Wiltshire than the forecasters had said it would be the previous day. With some trepidation we went to the bike meet in Calne where thousands of people had gone to. GD (4) and GS (2) was thrilled to sit in or on a fire engine, a mini motorbike and a full sized one. It was mostly sunny and very warm.

BlueSapphire are you on the Spirit of Adventure by any chance? If so, we were on. Med cruise last August. Gosh it was hot! 41c in Croatia. Really nice ship. We are going to the Canaries on the Spirit of Discovery in October. I believe the spec is almost identical. I’d love to go to Iceland.

Delighted Mr Cornergran is on the mend. Have a lovely Sunday all.
