It is uplifting to hear that Mr Corner is continuing to make gentle progress. smile

It has been a lazy day. I simply cannot get into top gear. This means that tomorrow I shall hopefully be inspired to rattle around the house and perform miracles. wink

It is raining. The temperature is about 15 degrees lower than it was at the beginning of the week. Son and daughter-in-law plan/hope to climb Ben Nevis. hmm

Enjoy your Sunday evening. TOYA. smile moon

Hi all, lovely news Yia many congratulations to your son, your view is very calming and you sound content.
Good you got out ann it makes a difference to the day.
I too have shoes that should go out corner, some haven’t been worn for at least six years!
A gentle day here, chopping bits off the tomato plants which are still producing, watched some football and went for a walk.
Enjoy your evening all.

Delighted to read the happy news soop. More exciting times ahead.

Hope the weather is kinder to you next week than it has been to us today. It’s poured, a real shock after yesterdays wonderful sunshine which allowed me to clean the outside of the conservatory. It took all day, the result was very satisfying.

We’ve done little today really. Mr C is carrying on with the challenge of his latest puzzle, one of those with odd shapes that sort of balance together. It will be very attractive once finished, possibly next year grin. He’s getting stronger, a long way to go still, I’m just thankful there have been no more dramas. We’re hoping for a positive hospital visit next week.

Me? Ironing, some clothes sorting, a damp foray for a top up shop and a lot of tv catch-up. I’ve felt very lazy.

Suspect tomorrow will be equally rainy I’m trying to build courage to sort shoes, I know many should go now. Maybe it will be the day.

Enjoy your evening everyone. Strictly for us. TOYA.

Wonderful news about the forthcoming wedding soop and looking forward to seeing your outfit.

Regarding weather and visitors, it’s been sunny and warm (sometimes too warm) here for months. Our daughter and son in law arrived yesterday in pouring rain, today heavy showers on and off all day. I’ll keep my fingers crossed that your luck will be different.

soop Sat 16-Sept-23 17:02:15

Aww! You lovely lot really are the tops. Thank you for all your kind words. I doubt that it will be a very formal civil ceremony. My son suggested that it would be close family and best friends only. I shall not be buying a hat. However, when I have firm arrangements, I shall most certainly let you see my outfit.

The parastomal hernia is exceedingly bulky. I've had to part with much of my wardrobe. Whatever I wear will need to disguise the mini mountain. I have a few ideas rattling around in my head. smile

Lovely news from our Yia. You deserve your newfound tranquillity. flowers

annsixty Bravo! Us lot like hearing that you have enjoyed a special treat.

Urms I am partial to a creamy Horlicks. Do you have one of those tall pot beakers that are specially designed for the night time drink?

We strolled through the busy village of Tarbert this morning. It is the music festival weekend. I trust that the shop keepers and restaurants do well from the hoards of visitors.

Another beautiful day. I would give anything for a repeat of this weather when the visitors arrive. What will be, will be.

Until tomorrow. TOYA smile moon

Good afternoon kitchen pals it’s a lovely sunny afternoon here in Inverness
Another wedding to look forward to, congratulations to your DS Yia it’s a lovely picture and a beautiful view from your terrace, you must be so pleased with your new house
Good to hear you’ve had a lovely day ann and were out and about with your DGD. Sorry to hear your DS is going through a tough time, I hope he’s able to settle down with someone in the future
I’ve had a lovely day, went into town this morning and then met up with DD2 and DGD. We dropped her off at her dance class then went for a coffee with DD2. All was going well until I put my foot in it with something I said that came out the wrong way - so typical of me and I kicked myself afterwards. Hopefully not too much damage done though 🤞
M&S curry for dinner later with a glass of wine
Have a lovely evening all x

annsixty Sat 16-Sept-23 16:04:40

Good afternoon all.
What a lot of goings on and such happy news of engagements and happy offspring, my congratulations to them all.
It is my dearest wish that my 50 something S would meet someone and settle down.
He is going through a dreadful time with his ex and I don’t think he will trust anyone again, it makes me so sad for him.

I am feeling slightly better today I’m pleased to say and went out on my scooter this morning.
My GD treated me to breakfast at a local cafe, it was delicious but I ate too much and still feel full.
My meal tonight will be very sparse.

I hope you all have a good evening and kindest wishes to all those under stress of any kind.

‘Evening All’.

I’ve just had a mug of Horlicks. It must be autumn as our lamps were on before 8pm.

An excuse to buy another new hat, Soop! How lovely and congratulations to the happy couple. 💘
I hope you’re settling in well, Yia. Your DIL must have been a huge help to you. Are you in the same place as before or have you moved to a new area?
Six bouts of Covid, Grandmarie? Poor chap! I hope he doesn’t develop Long Covid. Regarding asthma, I’ve never smoked, however both my parents did and I do wonder if that has contributed. There’s also evidence that the effect of smoking passes down to grandchildren, and as all four of my DC are asthmatic, it gives me pause for thought.
A greenhouse, Jax! You lucky thing! I’d thought of having one here but I really don’t think we have the space.

I’ve forgotten already what we did yesterday so I’ll skip right on to today. We looked after our youngest GS today. He just adores his grandad, it’s so cute to see them together. It’s the first time for a while that we’ve not been able to play with him in the garden so we had to try and have a contained game of ball in the house. Not that I was allowed to join in - only Dh was permitted to play. I could watch, though. 😂

We’ve done our PT workout, been to the supermarket to buy some bits and bobs, done some laundry and sundry things. We’re going out with dd and the GC tomorrow, they’ll come back here to eat then GD is sleeping over with us. She is under strict instructions that Sunday will not be starting at 4:45am this time!

Oh, I’ve remembered some of yesterday - putting plants and bulbs into the garden because looked like it might be the last nice day for a while, which proved to be the case. This morning was ok but it’s been raining since about 3pm. My washing had to be brought in and tumble dried. I prefer the smell of outdoor-dried.

Have a good weekend, everyone. Xxx

brook2704 Fri 15-Sept-23 20:05:32

I’ve had a lovely day today, just the usual gym classes and a coffee with my pal in Starbucks. Then a nice afternoon with DH pottering in the garden. We’ve just enjoyed Salmon and roasted veg for dinner and opened a bottle of wine - as its Friday

brook2704 Fri 15-Sept-23 19:59:39

What wonderful news soop a wedding to look forward to! Congratulations to your DS and his bride to be. I do very much hope you can both make it to London, and looking forward to seeing your outfit 😀

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Sept-23 18:38:26

I’m green fingered with veg soop flowery bits are more by luck that judgement!

Jaxjacky Fri 15-Sept-23 18:37:16

Joyous news soop congratulations to the happy couple.
Sorry SueDonim, I didn’t get back to you, I used to have an allotment; small garden, but a greenhouse, a retirement present to myself.
Washing done and dried, a walk, then blood test, very efficiently done, five minutes in the surgery.
We’ve just returned from the pub, couple of drinks and a catch up with friends, it’s a lovely evening.
Enjoy yours!

Grannmarie Fri 15-Sept-23 17:32:45

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Soop, what happy news! Many congratulations to your son and his partner 🥂, you have a wedding to look forward to!

I've had a busy day with housework and washing, but I'll need to shake a leg soon as my sisters and I are meeting our sister in law for dinner this evening. Our brother is back in America on business. Looking forward to a nice catch up.

Wishing everyone the best possible weekend, thinking especially of those with illness, worries or sorrow.

TOYA, and an early NNGB. 🥰

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 15-Sept-23 17:27:36

Dear Soop. Isn’t it lovely having lots of visitors. Earlier this year we had any number of people staying for my 70th. In fact at one point two of them had to stay in an air b n b in the village. The only slight difficulty was my brother’s lovely vegan gluten free partner. They hardly eat anything.
I finished off the marzipan fruit cake today. Then I found some cream lurking in the fridge, egg whites in the freezer and chocolate. So I made a frozen chocolate soufflé. Tonight’s dinner will be bangers, mash, peas and onion gravy. We have old friends coming for Sunday lunch so I’ll be doing a lot of prep in the kitchen tomorrow while OH is visiting his bees.
Have a good evening.

Grandmabatty Fri 15-Sept-23 17:22:31

Soop that's absolutely lovely. Many congratulations to your son and his fiancée

soop Fri 15-Sept-23 16:38:17

Nannytopsy That is some view to enjoy whatever the time of day. Wouldn't you just know it...the hot, sunny weather that we've become accustomed to is changing as I write this post. Visitors arrive on Tuesday. Bah! Humbug! wink

Jax if you can spare the time, would you call by to give us a helping hand with a few jobs in our garden ? I was keen to have a large paved area. I like the notion of potted plants. Instead we have something resembling a tropical "paradise".

Yia Us lot are delighted to hear that at long last you have the home that you so patiently waited for. flowers

Grannmarie Six bouts of Covid! I had no idea that one could be downed by it over and over again. You are right to test ahead of visiting your friend. Our neighbour, who is a fit fellow, told us that he has NEVER felt so dire for so long when he went down with it. Thankfully, we have remained free from the wretched thing. Mr Soop has a serious blood condition. He would find it doubly difficult to fight the virus.

My young son ( fifty next year) has proposed to his partner of five plus years. They bought a house together a year ago. She accepted. grin We are thrilled. It will be a simple civic ceremony. The date to be arranged. Although I am not as ambulant as I wish, we are determined to do our best to make the journey from Kintyre to London in order to join the small group of family and friends. Watch this space...

I still have a few outstanding jobs to attend to. This weekend will be the right time to have a mini blitz. After our family leave, we can relax and let the dust settle before another blitz ahead of the Australian visitors. hmm

I am wishing our very special Kitcheners a pleasant and peaceful weekend. Tonight, at 8:30, I shall raise a glass of smooth, full-bodied red wine to you all. smile moon

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Soop, you must be very busy preparing for your special guests. How lovely to have visitors from both sides of the family.

Nannytopsy, what a gorgeous view, enjoy your family time in Brittany.

Jaxjacky and Brook, you've been very busy in your gardens. I need to cut back my lavender too, but it's been showery and much cooler today... like Scapa and Brook, I am now feeling cold. First day with socks on!

YiaYia, I'm so glad that you are now in your forever home, and the the family were all around to help . A holiday is the perfect way to recover from a flitting, enjoy!

Annsixty, I hope you feel better soon, forget about your neighbour, enjoy your family and friends.

SueD, I'm glad your asthma results were fine, my dear Mum developed asthma in her mid fifties. She stopped smoking right away and had many more years with us.

Grandmabatty, thinking of you and your Mum, hoping and praying that she recovers quickly and that you remain unscathed.

Our young PP is recovering from his sixth- yes, sixth- bout of Covid. I really think the Bishop should remove him from the hospital chaplaincy rota for a few months, his immune system must be really low.
A lady parishioner is in the hospital with pneumonia and her husband has been warned not to visit as Covid is rife there.
I'm back to testing on a Wednesday when I drive a vulnerable friend to our coffee morning.
Have a peaceful night.
TOYA, NNGB.

Hi to all kitchen pals, it’s been a sunny but breezy day up here in the north. Lots of washing dried and gardening done. There’s already quite a few leaves starting to fall, definitely autumn weather here.
Good to hear from you yia I hope you’re settling in well and can get away for a relaxing holiday soon
Gorgeous view nannytopsy thanks for the picturec
No worries ann it’s easily done, this thread and the GM thread are easily mixed up

Jaxjacky Thu 14-Sept-23 18:42:47

Hi all from a sunny S Hampshire, it’s been a gardening day, well, a few hours, removing some lavender with my gardening lady. It does spread and push out other plants, still some left, but not so bossy.
It’s been a lovely day, it was a year ago too, we were in Somerset.
Pleased your move went well Yia and there were helpful hands to unpack the essentials.
I hope you’re still covid free Grandmabatty and your Mum is relatively unscathed.
Beautiful picture Nannytopsy what a view! Thank you.
Have a good evening all.
