Hellogirl Where have you been? I've missed your posts. flowers

We have said farewell to a visitor. I have also ironed for two hours. Lots of outstanding jobs will remain on hold until I've sat still, feet up and supped tea.

My love and best wishes to you all for a pleasant and peaceful weekend. smile moon

Annsixty that's such a shame for the locals. Today I had dgs2 who was seriously out of sorts. He had a proper lie on the ground tantrum and throwing things off the table etc. It was impressive stuff! He did eventually settle and get over whatever was bothering him. We had a number of long walks and playing in the garden too and, by the time his mum returned, he was a sunny wee soul. I suspect teething or sickening for something though. Time will tell. Finally I managed to get someone to come to give me a quote for the hedges. Fingers crossed he will turn up tomorrow morning. 🤞🤞🤞 Cheese omelette for dinner. I hope Brook and Scapa made it onto their islands. It's to be very stormy tonight and tomorrow morning. Have a good evening Kitcheners

After biblical rain this morning it brightened up, cloudy now, more rain due later and it’s very humid.
Less of a cleaning frenzy today, just the hob, I went to the library, it was shut, my own fault for not checking, but I picked up some strawberries on the way back.
Off to the pub in about an hour for a catch up and MrJ will nip across the road to do his lottery.
brook should be on the island now, I hope it’s not too wet.
Have a pleasant evening all.

We have been confined inside with all windows shut due to wasp nest, The Imp was not impressed.

They were angry and swarming, a swift call to pest control man, £70 lighter in pocket but hopefully sorted.

When The Imp is picked up DH and I are escaping to our favourite local Indian Restaurant for dinner and a restorative drink.

Will endeavour to catch up with all of your news one day 🤷‍♀️

brook2704 Fri 18-Aug-23 20:00:53

Lovely to see you soop hope you too have a good weekend
Such a shame for the fun day in the park ann, after a lot of preparations I expect
Sorry to hear DGS2 was out of sorts grandmabatty, hope he’s back to his usual self soon
We’ve arrived safely thank you all. Not wet (yet) and the ferry crossing was good although I was pleased to get off. We got checked into out gorgeous accommodation and then went to a nearby beach. A beautiful warm afternoon although a bit windy on the beach. We’re self catering so just making an easy salmon salad for dinner … A couple of pictures from this afternoon, and the view from our lounge window 😀
Enjoy the pub and the Indian Jax and GG13!

I`m here Soop, still reading daily, but not an awful lot to say lately TOYA x

Janiepops Fri 18-Aug-23 22:50:48

I’ve finally got to ask, what does TOYA stand for!
Is it something something YOU ALL?
🤷‍♀️
I also read every thing, everyday!
Anyway, sending good thoughts to you all 🥰🥰

Blossoming Fri 18-Aug-23 23:56:16

Just a quick visit before bedtime. MrB and I had a busy day getting rid of garden waste at the recycling centre and a brisk walk by the river. It’s been a cold, wet and windy day so we were well braced by the time we got back. Farmhouse Lancashire cheese on wholemeal toast for supper. We are watching the directors cut of Alien2 and I am enjoying a mug of hot chocolate before bed. Goodnight, TOYA.

cornergran Sat 19-Aug-23 08:05:55

Cornerland is very quiet so little to say. Mr C had a reassuring chat with a GP yesterday after a bumpy week. Somehow the patient needs some patience!

What beautiful images brook, enjoy every minute. It’s been cold, wet and windy here too for a couple of days blossoming, much better today, hope the same for you.

Pleased those wasps were removed grannyg, fascinating creatures though they are they aren’t comfortable neighbours.

Such a shame about yesterday ann, I’m so pleased you and your scooter are now good friends.

Not surprised you’re stressed yiai, hope all sorted soon. Fingers crossed for positive news about your hip neine, Mr C’s post op review will also be by phone in a month or so, seems odd to us.

Some ironing for me today too soop, a cuppa is always welcome afterwards

Take care everyone. Apologies, I know I’ve missed many people from my comments. Hard to keep up. TOYA

Glad to know that progress, although too slow for the invalid, is happening, Cornergran, frustrating though it is that husbands rarely listen to their wives’ good advice. Hope things continue to go in the right direction.

We seem to have missed the storms and today is actually quite sunny at present. However, indoor jobs await and I must stop reading Gransnet and actually tackle at least one of them. My talent for procrastination gets stronger by the week ……

Yiayia4 Sat 19-Aug-23 11:43:27

Good Morning everyone.
Orkney looks wonderful Brooke.Would like to visit sometime.
Good to know Mr.C is progressing Corner but it must be frustrating.

Today my brave and courageous DS is 50.Dinner later for family and a big party next week.
Like to share a photo of him a few weeks ago with his boys on holiday.Feel a bit emotional today.
Have a good day Kitcheners.

Blossoming Sat 19-Aug-23 11:50:09

Glad things are progressing Corner and hope the doctor has talked some sense into MrC!

We still have thick cloud GrannyS but no rain yet. I too have some indoor jobs I’ve been putting off so must get on with those.

Lovely pic Yia, enjoy the day with your family.

Nannytopsy Sat 19-Aug-23 16:18:05

Hello everyone! I’m a bit jealous of all the trips to the Scottish islands. They are on the list!
Grandchildren yesterday and again from tomorrow until Wednesday. They had great fun digging up our potatoes yesterday and tomorrow or Monday the strawberry bed is up for clearing. DGS enjoys wielding a fork 😂 but we just need to keep his sister far enough back! We have a spindly little damson with a couple of branches that are well fruited. She can pick those.
I can confidently predict that we will be on our knees by Wednesday evening!
I have done a couple of hours ironing, so we at least have clothes to wear, but there is still a large hill to climb!
Enjoy the rugby this afternoon

Jaxjacky Sat 19-Aug-23 18:44:37

Smashing picture of your son and his boys Yia enjoy your family meal tonight.
Sounds like a wise GP corner hopefully your husband was listening 🙂
You’ll need early nights Nannytopsy with extra patience in abundance, enjoy the time though.
It’s been cloud/sun with a breeze today, our friends have been, cooked us a yummy bbq, then left, it was a lovely late lunch, I’m still full. All I did was wash a large Tupperware box and put four plates in the dishwasher, very lazy.
Watered the greenhouse, in for a TV football session.
Enjoy your evening.

brook2704 Sat 19-Aug-23 19:41:37

What a beautiful picture of your DS and DGSs Yia hope you have a wonderful family party to celebrate his birthday
We had a brilliant day today, a longish circular walk around some of the coastline on the west of the island, we got good sunny weather most of the day but it was very windy - even DH said you ‘should see your hair’! … It’s ok for him he’s not got any … I’m pleased to report DHs new knee did very well, even on the downhill bits which were a bit of a challenge before. We’re back in our cottage now so I’m going to have a soak in a bubble bath then a glass of wine. Something with chicken for dinner later
Enjoy the DGC nannytopsy, I’d not bother with the ironing, just smooth the creases out … 😀
Pleased you enjoyed the bbq Jax always good when you don’t have to do loads of work and you can just enjoy it
Blossoming are you still learning Gaelic? It would come in very useful here x

Grandmabatty Sat 19-Aug-23 20:11:18

Good evening Kitcheners. Brook it sounds like you are having a lovely time. Jaxjacky what amazing friends! They come to your house and cook for you? Can I steal them? Nannytopsy I'm with you in sympathy. Those grandchildren are hard work. Yiayia what lovely boys. You are rightly proud of them.
A busy day at Batty Towers. Washings are all done. A lovelyam came and gave me a reasonable quote for the hedges and will do it in three weeks. Aldi shop done, cleaning all done too. I have fresh bedding on which always makes me happy. I visited mum and she wasn't great but just ok. While she was being attended to, I sat in the hall and sang with other patients who are much more demented than she is. It made me feel useful instead of useless. I've had dinner, gammon, mash, broccoli and peas and I'm having a glass of wine. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Grandmabatty Sat 19-Aug-23 20:11:47

Lovely man, that should read

Blossoming Sat 19-Aug-23 20:49:11

Your holiday sounds idyllic Brook, I’m glad the knees are holding out! I’m still learning Gaelic, I really enjoy it. I found this very useful site with loads of useful extra information.
learngaelic.net/scottish-gaelic-alphabet.jsp

I also bought a book of Gaelic folk tales for Kindle, I try to read them, looking up any words I can’t figure out.

That sounds like a great day Grandmabatty, the rain held off here so didn’t ruin our Lytham outing.

brook2704 Sat 19-Aug-23 21:31:35

Thank you for the info on the link Blossoming, I’ll take a look
Pleased you had a good evening with the singalong grandmabatty, it’s always good to feel useful

cornergran Sat 19-Aug-23 22:09:32

A warning. Mr C can attest to the little known fact that cardiac surgery adversely impacts hearing. Or that’s the experience here!! grin. Goodnight everyone. Sleep well.
