Blow me down with a feather kitchen people. I had almost finished typing up what I thought was an interesting post, but it vanished. Never mind - I thought I’d pop in before the door shut! Have a good evening.

soop Thu 05-Oct-23 16:55:32

Locking the door and am about to welcome you to our new gathering place.

Just a quick visit from me before we all move into the new kitchen
A lazy day here, I was hoping to do some gardening but it’s been raining most of the afternoon so I’ve given up. I’ve started sorting out the bedroom drawers and getting the winter clothes ready, I’m trying to get rid of some things as I go along but not having much luck.
Gorgeous photos again Scapa thanks for sharing
Sounds like you’ve been busy this week SueD, well done with getting started early on the Christmas cakes. Also a very happy birthday to your little DGS for tomorrow 🎂🎉 🎈

Scapa1 Thu 05-Oct-23 14:42:51

Today we visited caves in Vieste Puglia. Very good boat trip perfectly calm. Then a wander round the old town and saw the amazing Arch of hands called Building Bridges. Funnily enough pizza for lunch. Hi

soop Thu 05-Oct-23 11:00:08

Not too far away. Will keep a beady eye on our kitchen in readiness for another move. Back to the vac etc. Visitors due tomorrow wink

Such lovely holiday snaps! The colourful pasta is gorgeous.

I hadn’t heard of Aldourie, Granmarie but it looks beautiful, on Googling it. I saw that it belongs to the Povlsen family - I don’t know how they have overcome the utter tragedy in their lives, they must be special people.
Gorgeous photo, Soop and I love MrS’s jumper!
I hope Imogen’s diagnosis brings forward support for her, Jaxjacky.
Good to hear your mum is eating a little now, GMbatty.
We have a birthday boy in the family this week as well, Brook. Friday is the big day and we’ll be looking after him for much of it. Not that he’ll care - he’ll be two and unaware of the importance, no doubt! grin

I’ve forgotten ready what I’ve done this week. I think on Monday I did household things and then shopped for things such as more compost (the wee girl in the shop carried the 50litre bags to the car two at a time! I can barely lift one) , a new door mat and similar excitments.

Yesterday I found a wonderful fabric store and spent a couple of hours browsing for material for blinds. We were plied with free coffee and biscuits as we looked - now that’s customer service. I’m waiting for samples to arrive now.

Today I’ve done a number of those small jobs, posting parcels, sending birthday cards and so on. Our PT came this morning and I think I finally understand our new routine, blush which is to improve flexibility and posture. GD came for her tea with us, after we’d taken her to dancing after school. She’d been off colour earlier this week and gravely informed me that ‘’Nanna, I lost my appetite.’!

If I may mention the looming season, I put the dried fruit to soak in alcohol for Christmas cakes and puds today. Not sure when I’ll get round to making them. This is a new oven to me so that’ll be interesting, too.

Sleep well, everyone. Xxx

Good evening kitchen pals, a busy full on day for me today so I’m late posting
What gorgeous interesting pictures Scapa, your holiday really does sound wonderful, hoping you’re enjoying every minute
I was at a group training session all morning for my new volunteering patient role, I found it really interesting and enjoyable. It was good to meet all the other volunteers too, some have been doing this for many years and are very experienced. Then the hairdressers all afternoon followed by an evening playing games at DD2s with the DGC. My eldest DGS will be 10 tomorrow, we took his present round and did the birthday cake etc. as he’s busy tomorrow. I remember staying up all through the night when he was born, waiting for a phone call from SiL. I didn’t dare to to bed as he was my first grandchild and I was so worried and excited at the same time - What a relief when that phone rang, so many tears of joy! Happy memories 💕
Hope you’re ok tomorrow after your covid jag Blossoming, mine should have been this Friday but apparently they’ve overbooked so it’s rescheduled to Saturday
Soop hoping the appointment with the surgeon is helpful 💐

Scapa1 Wed 04-Oct-23 21:04:45

Today was mostly spent traveling to our new hotel. We did however have a guided tour of Bari with it's narrow winding streets and women cooking and pasta making in these streets. I believe Gordon, Gino and Fred filmed here. This is such a different holiday from what we are used to but very enjoyable plus the weather has been brilliant.

Blossoming Wed 04-Oct-23 20:37:46

Good evening Kitcheners, hope everyone is OK, I have my Covid jab tomorrow morning so may not be online for a while. I will look out for a new kitchen. X

soop Wed 04-Oct-23 14:32:43

Charleyg Sorry to report that our four-legged furry friend has been absent for a very long time. The apartment is cleaned regularly in the hope that he/she may return.

Have received letter for appointment with a surgeon who will give me advice regarding the ever growing hernia. A wee step forward.

I remain somewhat out of touch with you lovely lot. I note that sooner rather than later we will need a new kitchen. I shall keep an eye on things. Come what may, we will all be moving and celebrating in style. grinWow!

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Oct-23 21:33:05

So sorry to see that Maw is leaving. We met in Market Harborough. I shall miss you Maw

Nannytopsy Tue 03-Oct-23 21:31:45

Hello everyone!
I’m still here and have just caught up on the goings on! A belated happy anniversary to the soops and some lovely holiday photos. Plenty of child care - we do a bit this Friday, but it isn’t an early start, thank goodness.
We get the granddog for a week or so on Thursday which will keep us on our toes!
We had 20mm of rain yesterday afternoon/evening and a long thunderstorm. Since we couldn’t do anything outside, we gutted the study. It looks beautiful and twice as big!
Hope everyone has a good evening and sleeps well. 💤

Scapa1 Tue 03-Oct-23 21:22:48

Today we visited another Unesco site in Matra. It was where the caves are carved into the hills and cave dwellers stayed until the 1950’s when they were compulsory moved out. Very old steep stairs downtown the caves not my favorite bit but very interesting. Hotter today .

brook2704 Tue 03-Oct-23 20:08:52

Good evening kitchen pals, hope everyone is doing ok.
A good but busy day here, we’re just on the last leg of childcare activities for this evening - both DGC are at cubs until 8.30 so we’ve got an hours breather before the pick up and getting them to bed. DD2 and sil are out enjoying themselves somewhere and we’re doing all the running round 😳 Not complaining though as it’s nice to be involved!
I hope the diagnosis helps Imogen Jax and she gets support as needed. She seems such a lovely girl ❤️
So pleased to hear you’ve had a good day grandmabatty the boys were good and your mum is eating a little bit too. Our DGC were on their last warning tonight which seems to have worked as they’ve been quite good.
Hope you enjoyed your break away gillgran always good to get a few days away and a change of scenery

Grandmabatty Tue 03-Oct-23 19:21:44

Good evening Kitcheners. Two busy days of childcare but mostly fine apart from one meltdown when going home today. I have foolishly lost my front door key. No idea where. Fortunately dd has two spare keys as p it isn't critical but very annoying. I am more annoyed at myself. Mum is eating slightly. Crisps etc so not particularly healthy but at least it's something. Jaxjacky I'm sure Imogen will flourish, particularly now diagnosed. I'm about to have dinner so I'll love you all and leave you. I'm a bit concerned that Annsixty has stopped posting. I hope she's ok. And Muse too

Jaxjacky Tue 03-Oct-23 19:08:04

Quiet kitchen tonight.
A slight chill in the wind today, but the weekend is predicated to be disconcertingly warm.
After some token housework I went for a walk this morning, the trees know it’s Autumn even if my hanging basket doesn’t.
Covid jab this afternoon following the flu one last Saturday, had to queue for 15 minutes, but we all chatted shuffling along.
Imogen has been formally diagnosed as autistic, suspected for some time, we paid privately, the NHS CAMHS option was possibly a 2 year wait. We’re fortunate to have the choice, this diagnosis should help with provision at school and in the future to ease her learning.
MrJ is at indoor bowls, I didn’t get on with it.
Enjoy your evening.
