Scapal and Yia Wow! Super special photographs.

There has been yet another heavy rain/flood alert for our part of Scotland. Do hope that our visitors will escape disruption of road closures. We shall have to hope for the best.

I am shortening trousers. So far, so good. In a strange way I find the process therapeutic. I'm also making slits in the sides of a few garments. The reason being...the hernia is now a fair size and I wish to disguise the bulge. hmm

brook, that was a nasty shock for you.

Sorry I'm a bit late with your news, we've just got back from 3 days at our little home-from-home at the N.W.Norfolk coast, lots of very high tides!!

Warm wishes to you all, especially those with extra problems & worries. x

Good evening Kitcheners. Lovely pic of a happy couple Soop ❤️

Also loving the holiday photos Yia and Scapal, thanks for sharing them.

I’m feeling a lot better today. I hold on to the landing railing when I do the balance exercises to prevent me from falling and I’m taking it slowly. Just had a lovely bowl of minestrone soup, a good way of getting lots of vegetables.

Wishing everyone a good night, TOYA.

So sorry to read that Foxy has left. We have met a few times and she is truly a lovely lady. Will miss her on here very much. Auf wiedersehen, Foxy.

Charleygirl5 Mon 02-Oct-23 18:31:21

My apologies soop- I am sure my brain has taken a permanent wander. My belated greetings and I am so pleased you enjoyed your day.

Have you had a 4 legged furry visitor recently?

My grass cutter (£20) has gone AWOL and the 1st today was going to charge £80 and the second £50. Loadsmoney does not live here and although my state pension has increased by 25p a week, it does not quite cover that amount. It is not Kew Gardens and it is mowing only.

Jaxjacky Mon 02-Oct-23 18:30:17

What a horrid experience at the weekend brook a shock.
Good you’re recovering Blossoming go gently now.
I like tractors Grannmarie and big trucks, sadly our grandson at 10 is above such interests now!
A happy day Grandmabatty that’s when it’s all worthwhile isn’t it.
Voluntary phones today, some very odd calls, all sorted now. We had a storm a short time ago and brief, but torrential rain, quiz later.
Fab picture soop, you both look content.
Puglia looks delightful Scapal and still that stunning sky.

Scapa1 Mon 02-Oct-23 17:35:27

Hi everyone. Today we visited the UNESCO site of Arbelobello with it’s conical roofs. What a lovely village busy but a lot quieter than in the summer. Not me in the photo! Afterwards we visited an olive oil producing place which included tastings. Weather remains very bearable in the top twenties and sunny.

Grandmabatty Mon 02-Oct-23 17:34:46

A lovely photo of you both Soop. Brook I used to enjoy yoga, but my flexibility has gone now, sadly. Grannmarie that sounds like a lovely day with your family.
Today has been busy but remarkably tantrum free. Dgs2 was very amenable to anything and there were no horrendous meltdowns like last week. Dgs1 fell at nursery and bumped his face but he's ok. Both boys were funny in different ways today and made me laugh. Tonight I'm having roast chicken etc and I'll sort it in a wee while. I'm relaxing after taking home the gruesome twosome. It'll be an early night for me. I was up at five and didn't sleep well at all. Only three hours recorded on my Fitbit. So I'm tired, but a healthy tiredness. Have a good evening Kitcheners

mrshat Mon 02-Oct-23 16:38:51

Another lovely photo soop - pleased your special day went well flowers

brook2704 Mon 02-Oct-23 16:23:19

What a gorgeous photo soop you both look so happy and completely wrinkle free
It’s been quite a mild day here in Inverness, a bit windy but not too bad. I did the yoga class at the gym again this morning, only my second try at this class so it’s all still new. I don’t think I’m as flexible as I thought I was and some of the poses are quite challenging. I’m still a bit unsure about it but will stick at it a bit longer!
Your day out sounds lovely grannmarie I remember my DGSs really enjoying tractor rides a wee while ago.
Good to hear you’re feeling a bit better Blossoming take care

soop Mon 02-Oct-23 13:51:10

Foxygloves You will be missed by us lot. I am so sorry to lose you. Come back whenever you feel comfortable. Your chair will be ready and waiting.

Our anniversary day was special. The sun shone throughout. I shall add a photo taken by a lady who may have had a wee shiver resulting in a slightly blurred image. Mr Soop maintains that it disguises a few wrinkles. wink

Australian visitors due to arrive on Friday. You know what that means...yet another blitz aboot the hoos, and the garden needs last minute attention. Possibly the last grass cutting session on the cards.

TOYA smile moon

Grannmarie Mon 02-Oct-23 11:45:17

Good morning, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.
Brook, sounds like you were a great comfort and support to the people in the accident, how lucky that you were there, well done.
SueD, that's Aldourie Castle on the southern banks of Loch Ness. It's a very expensive rental venue, popular with the rich and famous!
Glad you're feeling a bit better now, Blossoming, good luck with your balance exercises.
Stunning photos, Scapa, have a wonderful time.
Lovely photo of Rosie, thank you, Foxygloves, take care.

DH and I had a lovely day out with the Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy yesterday. We met up with them at a super farm park near Blair Drummond. It was Tractor 🚜 Weekend, so we had a Tractor ride, hay baling/ wrapping demonstration, access to several tractors for photos, the Wee Boy even sat for his first experience of face painting and got a lovely red tractor on his cheek. Lots of animal feeding/ petting, a nice lunch and happy family time.
Back to reality now, I lit candles and offered prayers at Mass this morning for all who need/wish them. TOYA.

GrannySomerset Mon 02-Oct-23 08:09:14

So sad that Maw feels she must leave because her posts are always looked for. I still treasure her “Twelve Days of Christmas” pastiche which I copied into my commonplace book and which amuses me every time I look at it. As others have said, perhaps a short break?

cornergran Sun 01-Oct-23 21:42:38

Take some time foxy, if you feel the same in a month then yes, leave but give yourself space from upset. I’m sorry you’ve been hurt.

SueDonim Sun 01-Oct-23 20:50:36

Foxy I’ve no idea what’s happened but it’s so sad that you feel you need to leave. Can you not just take some time to lick your wounds then join in again? flowers

That must have been upsetting, Brook. Well done you for organising the emergency services to attend.
Ooh, that looks very crowded with tourists in Puglia, Scapa! What a start to your flight, though. shock
Grandmarie where is that red castle-type building? It looks very grand! Glad you’re home safely, even if just till Thursday.
Happy anniversary, Soop. 💐

We took a trip to St Andrew’s yesterday. It was very busy there with the students all back plus there are still plenty of tourists. It’s a funny little town, I call it Scotland Lite as you don’t hear many Scottish accents at all. They have some nice shops which other local towns don’t have now, such as Seasalt, the White Company, Oliver Bonas and so on.

Today has been sunny after a heavy shower first thing so I got out into the garden and have planted out all the various things I’ve bought. I’ve decided there is no plan - if I see it and I like, I’ll buy it and stick it in. grin I’ve also caught up with various ‘life admin’ jobs, though there are more to do, as well.

Sleep well, everyone. Xxx

Blossoming Sun 01-Oct-23 20:48:54

Good evening dear Kitcheners. A very happy anniversary to the soops.

The ‘flu jab after effects are wearing off and I’m feeling better after a day of snuggling in my fleece blanket.

Today MrB cooked cod, rice and peas with a lovely sirracha dressing, it was delicious and perfect for my never very good appetite. Tomorrow I will start some balance exercises, I haven’t bothered for the last few days as the jab made me feel even more wobbly than usual.

Loving all your photos, they really lift my spirits.

Foxy I am sorry you feel that you must leave Gransnet, but if it isn’t working for you anymore then perhaps it’s for the best. Maybe take a break for a month or two instead of leaving altogether, then you may feel differently.

Warmest wishes to Baggs and Urms in their times of sorrow ❤️

I wish you all a peaceful evening ❤️

mrshat Sun 01-Oct-23 19:48:37

So sorry to see you leaving Foxy/Maw. I enjoyed your posts and yes, it has been a long time with lots of happy and indeed, sad, memories. Take good care and keep safe. xx flowers

brook2704 Sun 01-Oct-23 19:33:58

Hoping Mr &Mrs Soop are having a lovely anniversary with a glass or two to celebrate 🥂

Sorry you’re leaving us Foxy will miss your posts, take care x

I’ll be in that vaccination queue at Eastgate on Friday *grannmarie pleased you enjoyed your trip and thanks for the photos.
More lovely photos from you too Scapa, the sky looks so blue, enjoy your hols

I’ve had an unsettling day today, we were just leaving home for the garden centre when we saw a nasty road traffic accident at the top of our road. A local lady on her own and a car with two American tourists had collided, both cars badly damaged and air bags activated etc. We didn’t see what had happened but we’re first on the scene so had to call for an ambulance and police etc. Luckily no one seemed seriously hurt but I stayed with the lady until the ambulance arrived and called her husband etc. We weren’t directly involved but it still really shook me up and made me realise how quickly things can happen - take care everyone ❤️

aggie Sun 01-Oct-23 19:28:09

Oh Maw I do enjoy your posts , so sorry

Grandmabatty Sun 01-Oct-23 19:09:39

Foxygloves I'm really sorry to hear that. I will miss you. Xx

dustyangel Sun 01-Oct-23 18:16:59

Only just caught up with you all again but just in time to wish soop and her lovely husband a Happy Anniversary, I hope you’ve had a wonderful day. flowers

Jaxjacky Sun 01-Oct-23 18:00:34

Hope you’re having a smashing day soop.
Lecce looks lovely Scapal, what a sky! Your pictorial holiday has been a pleasure to see Grannmarie.
Apart from some light pruning and a walk our day has been watching the Ryder Cup, good result for Europe.
No luck in the meat draw in our local, but we only spend £2 each, others wager more.
Beef in red wine is bubbling away in the slow cooker, mash, greens and cabbage later.
Enjoy your evening all.

GrannyGravy13 Sun 01-Oct-23 17:47:21

Foxygloves take care 😘

Foxygloves Sun 01-Oct-23 17:17:38

Happy Anniversary Soop and Mr Soop remember when we used to call him McSporran ?)
May you have many, many more happy years of love and companionship. 🎉🥂🍾

Sadly I have blotted my copybook elsewhere so I am bidding you all a fond Adieu. .
I haven’t posted much recently but clearly have allowed my personal sadness and emotional reaction to colour my response to hurtful comments instead of saying “let it go”.
There are some who clearly still bear a grudge (not here I hasten to add) and life is too short to allow total strangers to cause me pain. I hope they are satisfied.
So Rosie and I wish you all well - those who knew me as Maw will know we go back a guid few years and auld acquaintance will never be forgot.
