Good evening dear Kitcheners. It has been a glorious sunny day here. I buckled down and got on with some workroom sorting until I could do no more, so had a lovely shower while MrB organised some minestrone soup and freshly cooked chicken for dinner.

Lovely to see you Soop, hope you’re feeling well. You sound a bit better LadyLFL.

Busy as ever Grandmabatty I envy your stamina!
Enjoy your travels Nannytopsy.

I love the heat Grannmarie but my eyes do not like bright sunlight so I don’t really sit out in the sun for long. I can enjoy it just as well from inside with the French windows open.

Your garden is so beautiful Brook it must be a pleasure to spend time in it.

Have a peaceful evening all, TOYA.

Can we all help choose the wedding hat Yia? 👒 Congratulations to your GS!
How lovely that your painting was appreciated, Soop. I did love those two little doggies.
Such a lovely report for your GS, GMbatty. I do like the way nursery and school today emphasise being kind as a good way to behave. ❤️
Hope your journey is going well, Topsy.
That looks like the Med, not Scotland, Brook! It’s been the same here in Perthshire, not a cloud in the sky all day.

We went for lunch in the sunshine to a strawberry farm today. I was very good, I didn’t have cake. I had an ice cream instead. blush It was just so gorgeous out. I said to Dh that we must ‘bank’ these Indian summer days in our memory, to be dredged up during the dark, dank months of winter. ☀️ ☀️ ☀️

We’ve just had fajitas for dinner and now Dh is doing the bins for tomorrow before watering the garden. Then we’ll watch another two episodes of Yellowstone.

Tomorrow our personal trainer is coming in the morning. We didn’t have him while Dh was unwell but we need to start again now. I’m not sure if we’ll be taking our GD to dancing in the afternoon as she’s had a tummy bug today. If not, we’ll go to a National Trust garden where I shall forage for plants for my garden.

Wishing you all a pleasant evening and especially thinking of Urms. Xxx

Good to see you posting Soop . Aren’t we lucky with this lovely weather! We had a day out to St Andrews which was lovely there was a gentle breeze not the wind there can sometimes be there.
Looked to be a lot of young looking students there must be about Freshers Week. Had a nice lunch at Balgove Larder farm shop and butchery, lots of lovely food for sale but really quite expensive. It takes us about one and a half hours to get there but worth it for a walk at the seaside. I think the Silver Sands at Aberdour is our nearest beach.

Jaxjacky Tue 05-Sept-23 20:48:10

Hi all, cool air as the patio door is open, we hit 31 today, I came indoors for the afternoon until about 5, not a cloud and similar for tomorrow.
Busy bees you lot! Pleased you’re improving llfl, your garden is glorious brookwhy go anywhere else!
I too love water Blossoming we’re going out for dinner tomorrow, practically on a beach, just us, it’s our favourite place locally, although not eaten there in the evening before.
Enjoy the rest of your evening all.

It was was DS2 that got engaged. My minds all over the place at the moment.🤣
Eldest GS is 17 so that won’t happen for a few years yet.Anyway DS and future DIL are having a lovely time and enjoying the cruise, they are in Porto today.

I’m running around like a headless chicken, packing and cleaning. It’s so hot today need a rest now, only six more sleeps!!!
We have cleaners in tomorrow for the morning so that will help.

Well done to your DGS* Grandmabatty* what a kind little boy.
Enjoy your holiday Nannytopsy. Dinner on the beach sounds great Jax.
Stay cool everyone.

Good afternoon greetings to my favourite Granspals.

Yes, it is very warm. Mr Soop couldn't stand a full afternoon of garden clearing. He is in the loft, preparing to box and deliver about 100 greeting cards for a lady who lives on the island of Gigha. She takes photographs. Mr Soop creates cards. She then sells them to visitors to the island.

The bike looks smart. Just one wee drawback. I am finding it difficult to mount the saddle safely. Our neighbour has suggested that he constructs a low, sturdy stool which will enable me to reach the saddle before I go A over T. Worth a try. Mr Soop does not relish the idea of dismantling the contraption, repacking it and posting back for a refund. wink

I trust that you are all enjoying whatever it is that this sunny day offers. I have some ironing to do. Not too much. Just enough to keep me out of mischief. hmm

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It has been another glorious sunny day here. I have done very little apart from a visit to the dentist for my 6 monthly check up and biennial x-rays. All good, no work needed and no TMJ bone loss.

Hope the visit from the personal trainer went well SueD.

Enjoy your dinner Jax it sounds idyllic.

Exciting, and hectic, times ahead Yia

The bike sounds a bit too high for me soop, I hope something can be sorted out. Mine is recumbent and I just step through and sit down grin

It has been nice to see Urms popping in, thinking of our dear Baggs as ever.

Have a peaceful evening all, TOYA.

brook2704 Wed 06-Sept-23 19:37:27

Good evening kitchen pals, it’s been another gorgeous sunny day here. We had the sea haar first thing but that quickly dispersed and it’s been non stop sunshine ever since
Good news from the dentist Blossoming, well done you
A really enjoyable day, I did a couple of classes at the gym then we picked up DGD from school, took her swimming and then back here for a sleepover. It’s so lovely that she asks to stay over. She’s just gone to bed now and DH is reading her a story. I count my blessings every day and treasure every moment with the DGC.
Take care getting on and off the bike safely soop it’s easy to topple over. Hope you manage it ok with the help of a little stool
Not long to go now Yia exciting times!
Hope the PT session went well SueD, I did the dreaded circuits class at the gym this morning, really hard work especially lifting the weights over my head but my arms are definitely a bit more toned and I’m getting stronger 💪 No messing with me now! 🤣 Hope your DGD is a bit better today too
I hope Jax is enjoying a well earned dinner with a gorgeous sea view
I love St Andrews Scapa, hope you’ve had another good day today

Jaxjacky Wed 06-Sept-23 21:13:26

Evening to you kitcheners, those sleeps will whizz past Yia.
I dread the dentist Blossoming I have lousy teeth, sadly no amount of diligence will help, more damage limitation!
Lots of time with grandchildren, it’s special isn’t it, ours are older now, so time with them is even more precious.
We had a delightful evening, I was amazed at how busy the beach was, swimmers, paddle boarders, families, groups of friends, it was like being abroad on a warm evening.
Our meal was delicious, we don’t go out often mid week with MrJ working, I’m glad we made the effort, we must do so more often, I actually wore a dress! Unheard of for me, jeans or shorts usually.

Blossoming Wed 06-Sept-23 21:48:26

That sounds like a great day Brook and what a lovely word picture of a happy home. My numerous nephews and nieces are my treasure too.

Beautiful pics Jax glad you and MrJ enjoyed your evening, I’m impressed you’re wearing a dress!

brook2704 Thu 07-Sept-23 16:53:04

Wow a scorcher of a day here in Inverness 😎. It’s been non stop sunshine all day and reached 26º this afternoon, a bit too hot for gardening so I’ve had to find some shade and a comfy seat
What a lovely way to spend the evening Jax thanks for the pictures, the meal looks yummy - was it a grilled tuna steak ?
Thank you Blossoming for your kind words. Nephews and nieces are so lovely too - unfortunately I don’t see much of mine as none of them live locally but we do keep in touch at Christmas and birthdays etc.
We dropped DGD off at school this morning, I was instructed on how to pack her lunch box correctly 😳 with everything in a special place. Much easier when she had a school dinner, but apparently ‘all her friends’ have packed lunches now and she didn’t want to be left on her own … 🤣
This afternoon I did my volunteer session with a virtual clinic with some 4th year medical students from Aberdeen University. I enjoyed it and think it went ok - I’m sure they’ll let me know if it didn’t!
DH is watching DGS play football and won’t be home till later so I’m enjoying a wee rest now and a cuppa
Take care all x

Ladyleftfieldlover Thu 07-Sept-23 17:48:49

Hello kitchen people. It’s hot here too! I am feeling much better today. So well that we went out for lunch to our favourite restaurant - apart from Sunday lunch where we have a choice of two excellent venues. I am out again this evening at a friend’s house. I am not sitting in the sun as I find the heat and humidity difficult. OH is outside cleaning one of his guns. Apparently if he goes under that proverbial bus first, I must ring the police pdq and they will collect his guns from the gun cabinets.
I hope everyone is having a good day, and especially the Urms’ whose anniversary it is!💐🍾

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Sept-23 18:22:31

Hi all, hot here too today, 30 and when the cloud came over, increasingly humid, bedding dried in a trice. An early trip to the pharmacy and bathroom cleaning was my lot for the day, skulking indoors all afternoon.
Close brook swordfish and I had a glass of wine, my first since April, it went down well.
Good you’re feeling better llfl.
Back to shaving over a not stove this evening!
Happy Anniversary to Urms and himself 🥂❤️.

Blossoming Thu 07-Sept-23 18:56:49

Good evening Kitcheners, it’s been cloudy, hot and humid here today. Got on with a little housework with no real enthusiasm!

Brook, as I have no children or GC I spend time on the nieces/nephews and their children. I love them all to bits ❤️

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Sept-23 19:37:23

Slaving over a hot stove! Goodness, can one glass of wine go to your head over 24 hours afterwards!!

Grandmabatty Thu 07-Sept-23 19:54:32

Good evening Kitcheners. Brook it took ages for the cloud to lift here and it has descended again. The humidity is awful. I worked like a wee Trojan this morning. Housework and moving stuff in the garden. I had been going to the bank to take money out for the tree man tomorrow. Fortunately I checked and we have no local branch any more but the post office can oblige. So that saved me a journey. This afternoon I had an ex colleague round for coffee and a blether.
Tomorrow I need to get up early for said tree man who is arriving at eight. Then I'm watching dgs2 for an hour. Enjoy the rest of your evening all.

brook2704 Thu 07-Sept-23 20:15:03

Think I prefer shaving over a hot stove Jax! 🤣

Urmstongran Thu 07-Sept-23 20:20:04

Good evening lovely kitcheners and thank you for all your good wishes on this, our 49th wedding anniversary. When I went down to our larder this afternoon I bought some yellow roses and as I was at the checkout I realised that yellow roses were amongst those in my wedding bouquet! A poignant remembrance.

brook2704 Thu 07-Sept-23 20:23:29

Thats lovely Urms the yellow roses are beautiful. I hope you and your DH have had a very special day together ❤️❤️

Urmstongran Thu 07-Sept-23 20:25:17

It also had the heavenly scent of stephanotis.
Arriving at the church with my lovely dad.
💙

Nannytopsy Thu 07-Sept-23 20:28:27

Happy Anniversary Urms. Think of your happy times and laugh a little.
We have been driven inside by mosquitoes here in the Loire valley and by the humidity. Fortunately the house has a good fan. Been to a number of vineyards today and tasted ( of course!) before buying 😉.
Good night all TOYA

Grannmarie Thu 07-Sept-23 20:41:23

What a beautiful, happy bride, and a handsome, very proud father! Thank you for sharing your precious memories, Urms, many congratulations to you and Himself on this special day. 🥂 💕🙏

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Jaxjacky, your evening sounded very romantic. 💕
I wrote a long personalised post and it disappeared 😩 so I will just say TOYA, take care in the sun ☀, enjoy your evening. NNGB

Scapa1 Thu 07-Sept-23 20:54:20

Happy anniversary Urms. Lovely wedding photo. Weather here was sunny this morning but warm and humid this afternoon and we did have quite a heavy rain shower. Tesco delivery today quite a big one as we are looking after our two DGds Friday to Monday while their parents are off to Krakow. No doubt the cupboards will be bare by Monday! We will probably need a rest too after ferrying them around to all their different activities.
I remember the first time we had DG1 overnight as a baby and she came with an A4 sheet of paper full of instructions and a huge amount of baby equipment. Now it’s make up, hair products, sports equipment, iPads etc. and verbal not written instructions! My main concern is getting them to school on time on Monday morning. One is at Primary school and the other at Secondary school.
Oh well all good fun really we are very lucky to live so close to them that they know our house as well as they know there own.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Sept-23 21:04:32

Beautiful photo Urmstongran

Jaxjacky Thu 07-Sept-23 21:04:34
