Hoping grandmabatty is having a lovely birthday and cake is involved somewhere along the way🎂
A cold day here 🥶 definitely winter coming. We helped pick up and drop off DGC at after school activities and we’re now home and thinking about what we can rustle up quickly to eat
I’ve also been packing grannmarie, I’ve been trying to squash a few outfits into a very small suitcase for our trip to see DS at the weekend, it’s always a tricky job getting everything in. I hope you enjoy your trip to Aviemore, have you been before?
Hoping you have a lovely time with your visitors soop
Well done with your cooking ann, always good to have meals in the freezer
Yia enjoy your trip to Corfu, you definitely deserve a well earned holiday ! 😎😎

brook2704 Tue 19-Sept-23 19:05:47

Crossed posts Jax, ours went on last night!

SueDonim Tue 19-Sept-23 20:25:19

Neine, I’m sorry your holiday started with a blip but glad you got there in the end. I’m so sorry you lost someone special in a Chinook disaster. I remember when a North Sea Chinook went down we thought one of dh’s colleagues was onboard. Thankfully he wasn’t, though 45 other lives were lost.
Visual field test, so that’s what that light thing is called, Brook! I’ve got to go back to have it done again one just one eye next week. I think I got trigger happy yesterday and kept clicking on things I hadn’t seen! grin Like Cornergran I couldn’t bear to go through it yet again, though normally I’d just grit my teeth and get on with it. Speaking of Corner, I hope the Covid jabs went ok.
It’s good that you’re getting out and seeing folk, Annsixty. Sometimes it’s an effort but it does repay you with pleasure. smile
Enjoy your visitors, Soop!
Happy birthday, GMbatty! 🎂

It’s been cold here, the CH has been turning itself on and off. Strangely, it’s going to be warmer overnight (15deg) than it has been today (12deg). Now it’s heavy rain, there are weather warnings for this area.

We went to a fireplace shop today. We’re thinking of putting in a fire to our newbuild as it just doesn’t seem cosy without a focal point in the sittingroom. The proprietor turned out to be about 117 years old - he was actually closed when we got there but said he’d open up if he could find his keys. 🤣 Anyway, I came home with six different brochures and now I’m even more confused than when I went.

Tomorrow is workout day and ferrying GD around so another busy one. Hope it stops raining before then!

A peaceful evening to you all. Xxx

I tried to book a Covid jab for Dh online today, as he’s heard nothing. When I logged in, much to my astonishment, he has an appointment already - shame they didn’t think to tell him about it! Anyway, I’ve now booked him in for after our trip to the US.

Good evening dear Kitcheners. Thank you for all the love yesterday, I think it was a combination of things sending me down in the dumps. My balance is still rubbish but my joints, especially my hands and fingers, are feeling much better. Ironically my gut is behaving itself so that’s something to be thankful for. The plumber rang last night full of apologies. He has tracked down what we need from a trade supplier and is coming on Thursday to show us the samples and give us a price.

I have spent most of today wrapped in a fleecy blanket watching the stormy weather. MrB braved the storm to go for a walk along the woodland path, which is quite sheltered from the rain and wind.

Goodnight, sleep tight, don’t let the bugs bite!

Grandmabatty Tue 19-Sept-23 21:12:00

Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes. I had a busy day with both grandsons. Dgs1 was still running quite a temperature and wasn't really himself, weepy and lethargic. Dgs2 was very ebullient today. We found a wonderfully deep puddle for splashing and they enjoyed that. Then home and changed. My aunt visited and both boys and I were delighted to see her. Later I took them home and stayed for a Chinese takeaway which was lovely. Then a blether with dd and sil. I'm home now and putting my feet up. I received nice presents and lovely cards from friends. I hope everyone has had a good day.

‘Evening All’.

We’ve only been home a couple of hours from The Christie hospital where Himself had his 6th and final i.v. chemotherapy treatment this afternoon. He is asleep beside me after enjoying a mug of warm soup. It’s been a very long day but we are so very grateful for the expertise of these oncologists and the hope they give to all of us who walk through their doors.

Wishing you and MrU a peaceful sleep tonight, Urms. I hope the meds will have bolstered MrU’s defences and you can have more of a normal life from now on. Sending love. Xxx

I love this thread. Just popped in to wish you all a good nights sleep.

Grandmabatty Tue 19-Sept-23 22:28:10

Sweet dreams to all, but specifically Urms and her MrUrms.

cornergran Tue 19-Sept-23 23:14:40

Hello everyone. I’m late again. I’ll be in trouble soon. Full day. The car insurance is almost settled jax. Goodness did I get cross in the process but think I whittled it down to two contenders. Final decision tomorrow if there’s space to make it or Thursday morning before the hospital appointment.

Sounds a better day blossoming. Onwards now for sure.

Enjoy your time with your visitors soop, these times are precious.

Covid jabs are tomorrow sued, expect I caused confusion, I’m good at that. We went past the location today, seemed to be a long queue, 🤞 not tomorrow.

Hope you prevailed with the packing brook, don’t envy you the challenge.

Sounds a good day grandmab, even though you were managing a poorly little one. Hope he’s better soon.

My eyes are closing, a good sign. Goodnight everyone, sleep tight - especially mr and Mrs urms.

.

Nannytopsy Wed 20-Sept-23 14:27:01

Best wishes to the Urms - onwards and upwards for you both.
Things are finally settling down after all the rushing around - phew! Just garden club refreshments tonight and the WI café tomorrow morning then it’s all over for a few days.
DD had her 20 weeks scan today.
🎀😍 so all very excited. I must get knitting!

Grandmachrisy47 Wed 20-Sept-23 14:43:55

Afternoon all. The post lady has just delivered the last POA for dh and me. We did it online and all four were sent early September 2022. Two were registered February 2023 the third was returned for a ‘minor infringement’ and was subsequently registered April 2023 the fourth one had to be redone and paid for again. That has come back as registered today. All four were filled in identically at the time!! Where the problems were is anyones guess. For anyone embarking on doing them, don’t put it off.

brook2704 Wed 20-Sept-23 18:31:50

Goodness it’s a very wild and windy day up here in Inverness today! We’re home now after a busy day. The gym this morning for a new Fitness Challenge as part of National fitness day - thank goodness it’s only once a year. Then a bit of shopping before picking DGD up from school, taking her swimming and then home here for a sleepover. She’s just getting her pjs on and cleaning teeth before hopefully an early night as I’m worn out ! will see you all back here later when she’s in bed 😀

Jaxjacky Wed 20-Sept-23 18:48:37

It’s rained incessantly here since lunchtime, chilly too, but Saturday it’ll be 7 overnight..brrr.
I got out for a walk this morning, this rain stops me treading on scrunchy leaves, very inconsiderate!
I hope thé soops are enjoying their company.
Fingers crossed corner finally has insurance, such a time waster sorting it.
Blossoming are you back to your walks today and improving?
Very exciting Nannytopsy, a New Year’s baby.
Our grandson is off to the Isle of Wight next week on a school trip, he’s very excited, gives Imogen and her Mum some time together.
Have a gentle evening all.

Grandmabatty Wed 20-Sept-23 19:35:41

Good evening Kitcheners. Nannytopsy such lovely news. Brook you are very fit. It's so nice that your grandchildren want sleepovers. Jaxjacky it's been wet and windy here all day.
I have been to the lovely wee library, returned books and borrowed new ones. I pottered about the house, did an ironing and visited mum tonight. She was fully aware of her situation tonight and was really sad. It upset me although I tried not to show it. Home for a quick dinner of takeaway leftovers and I've opened a bottle of wine. I didn't have any last night Brook so I'm making up for that tonight. Have a good evening Kitcheners

brook2704 Wed 20-Sept-23 22:10:46

Hi again kitchen pals, good to see you here.
I’m not that fit grandmabatty although I’m working on it … 🤣 Sorry to hear your mum was feeling sad tonight and you too. It’s awful isn’t it when there’s not much you can do to help.
Hope your DGS enjoys his school trip Jax and tells you all about it when he’s back 😀
Good you’ve eventually got your POAs sorted grandmachrisy
DGD is fast asleep after a prolonged bedtime routine and we’ve just crashed out on the sofa watching an old Midsomer murders we’ll be in bed very soon too. It’s all go as tomorrow afternoon we’re off down the road to Edinburgh for an overnight stay before our flight to Basel early Friday morning. I don’t feel very organised but hope I’ve not forgotten anything important
Such exciting times ahead to look forward to nannytopsy - lucky lady!

Grandmabatty Thu 21-Sept-23 10:32:49

Safe journey Brook. I hope that you have a lovely catch up with your son. Bring back Swiss chocolate!

Grannmarie Thu 21-Sept-23 12:41:49

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. 🥰

I hope the Soops are having a great time with their special visitors, it's lovely to catch up.

Safe journey Brook and have a wonderful visit with your DS. We haven't stayed in Aviemore before but we have visited on our way to Thurso many years ago. Just hoping the weather is not too wet and windy. We're hoping for a sail on Loch Ness and a day at Loch Morlich.🤞

Grandmabatty, for you 💐 and your Mum💐, I've been where you are now.

Congratulations, Nannytopsy, happy news. Hoping that your DD keeps well and has a safe delivery.

Jaxjacky, I hope your DGS has a great time on the Isle of Wight, what a big adventure!

Well done, Grandmachrissy, that's you and your DH all organised. We've still got decisions to make...

Cornergran, I hope your Covid jags went OK for you and your DH. I've not heard anything yet, but my sister, who is 5 years younger than me, has her appointment in...

Good to hear from Urms, I hope she and her DH have had a restful night, and can enjoy some peaceful times now.

Good luck with your plumber today, Blossoming, hope all goes well.

Hulahoop, I'm sorry to hear that you are in pain with your hip.

SueD, I hope you can decide upon a suitable fireplace, I love mine in the winter, so cosy and as you say, a focal point.
👋 Hello to anyone I haven't mentioned today, I do read all your posts. TOYA

This morning I finished my holiday ironing, getting there 🤣at last. Then my lovely hairdresser came for my wash and blow dry.
I'll have homemade soup for lunch, then head out this afternoon to have my car valeted. While that is happening I'll walk down to the town for banking and Euros for October trip to Nice.

Take care, enjoy Thursday as much as you possibly can.

Naughtyneine Thu 21-Sept-23 13:34:58

I've been caught on the hop... I've had to travel to Glasgow for work...only a very quick up and back. I'm sitting at Glasgow airport waiting to board the plane back to Bristol and I'm trying so hard not to cry. All the happy memories of coming up here so many times to see D1 and DGSons have come flooding back and I'm overwhelmed and in bits. I never expected to feel such sadness. I can only hope I don't disgrace myself.

Grandmachrisy47 Thu 21-Sept-23 14:38:11

Naughtyneine , sending a hug.

Grandmabatty Thu 21-Sept-23 17:41:45

Naughtie 💐 I'm heading out soon to an autumn wreath making class with my aunt. I'm looking forward to it although I rarely venture out at night now. Isn't that crazy? Anyway today I have been productive, housework, bought wool to make the boys winter hats, phoned the lawyer and set up a face to face meeting next week and organised the door man to come back tomorrow to take final measurements. I did half an hour of Spanish and dismantled a high chair as dgs2 wants to eat at the table now. Phew. I hope you all have a lovely evening Kitcheners.
