Today we drove up Cairngorm mountain for the views, we knew that the funicular was closed till October, pity, but we could still go inside to see the carriage, then we had tea and cake in the cosy cafe, in front of a huge wood burner and a ski clad fireplace wall. The wind was incredible, we had to hold on to our woolly hats on the way back to the car. I got some photos on the way up, just as well because the mist came down while we were in the cafe.
The fresh mountain air must have done us good, we had synchronised siestas on the sofa when we returned!
Chinese restaurant tonight, my choice!

Sorry, my phone screen is jumping again, pressed too soon!

SueD, I have had one or two special dreams of my dear Dad, like you I found them comforting. I woke feeling happy, as if he had visited me.
Glad to hear good news for the Corners, thinking of the Urms and Baggs and family.
Thanks for the wave 👋 Brook, glad you're home safely. I hope YiaYia is enjoying the sunshine.
Wonderful photos, Soop. Looks like they've had a great time in Scotland.
Jaxjacky, I hope your DGS is having a great time on IOW.

We've had sunshine and showers here in Aviemore, but we've been out and about. Yesterday we went to the beautiful Loch Morlich, but sadly couldn't access the beach with DH's mobility scooter, ( I just ran down and took photos) but we found a lochside parking spot and sat awhile to drink in the views. Then we managed an accessible nature trail in scenic Boat of Garten. We stopped at the Speyside Steam railway, The Flying Scotsman is coming next weekend.

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. I'm so sorry to hear of sadness and illness in the kitchen.
Grandmabatty, thinking of you and your Mum, sending love and prayers. 💕🙏
Neine, I'm so sorry that your living bereavement and the loss of your dear sister is causing you such pain, grief is the price we pay for love. Be gentle with yourself. 🕯💕
Ladyleftfieldlover and SueD, I hope you both rest up and feel better soon. I hope Blossoming and Annsixty are well. Imthinking

brook2704 Tue 26-Sept-23 21:16:42

Hope you enjoy the hosting and entertaining neine well done for setting it up 👏

brook2704 Tue 26-Sept-23 21:08:49

Lovely pictures soop thank you for sharing
Hope you’re feeling a bit better soon SueD take it easy if you can
I’ve had a busy day but all good. Got my holiday washing done and mostly dried ready to pack again for my trip to Cambridge and then I changed the bedding over to the warmer duvet as I’d been cold last night. This afternoon I did my volunteering virtual clinic with 4 medical students, quite interesting and I’m enjoying it so far
Hope your DGS enjoys his school trip Jax and pleased you enjoyed the quiz, second place is v good, much better than I could do
Just been catching up with Strictly on iPlayer - what a long show though, it’s taken most of this evening much to DHs annoyance 🤣

Jaxjacky Tue 26-Sept-23 19:04:33

Oh dear poorly kitcheners. I hope you’ve been able to make a GP appointment llfl.
Depressing Sue rest up until the antibees kick in.
Remnants of yesterdays phone calls were sorted this morning, I had a rather breezy, but quite pleasant walk this afternoon, our grandson is away with school at a PGL site on the Isle of Wight for the week, hope it stays dry for them.
We failed coming second at last night’s quiz on the tie break, an enjoyable evening though.
Lovely pictures soop
neine💐
Enjoy your evening all.

SueDonim Tue 26-Sept-23 15:49:23

Oh my goodness, LLFL! 😱 That must have given everyone a fright. And I suppose you never got your Covid jag? I hope you’re comfy on that sofa and the bruises heal quickly. I second the arnica recommendation. flowers

Lovely pics Soop and I do love a ‘choo choo’. 🚂

I’m just back from the surgery - another kidney infection. How annoying. I’m going back to bed now, so see you all tomorrow. Xxx

brook2704 Tue 26-Sept-23 15:38:55

Hope you’re taking it easy Llfl and feeling much better now 💐

cornergran Tue 26-Sept-23 14:25:03

GrannyGravy13 Tue 26-Sept-23 14:19:02

Ladyleftfieldlover that must have given you and your DH such a fright.

Stay on that sofa and rest 💐

soop Tue 26-Sept-23 14:13:27

Plus...

soop Tue 26-Sept-23 14:11:02

Ladyleftfieldlover Dear lady, what a to-do. Thankfully, you had assistance at hand. Take things easy for a day or two. flowers

Grandmabatty This a very difficult time for your family. I do know how this latest news must be affecting you. I trust that your dear Mother is made as comfortable as possible. I am sending you a special hug. X

Ever since the family departed, I have been chasing my tail. We are busy downloading images of the visit that we wish to print and put into a special album.

I have four deep shelves of huge family albums. My son has returned home with a selection that he enjoyed seeing for the first time in several years. There are many more for him and his brothers to have when the time is right.

I am adding a few images of Glencoe. Apparently, they "loved" Scotland. They will return before too long. grin

Sunshine and heavy showers so far today. I now have an ironing session to keep me out of mischief.

My love to you all.

Naughtyneine Tue 26-Sept-23 13:43:59

Gosh LLFL... That's not good. Have you got any Arnica to help with the bruising. I've had friends who have done similar to you and it has been that their BP was lowered too much by their medication. Stay on the sofa maybe until OH returns in case it happens again. Sending virtual healing thoughts.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 26-Sept-23 13:36:00

Well, this has been a strange day so far! I drove to our nearest town for my covid/flu jabs in the Pharmacy. My appointment was for 11.15 am but at 11.45 am I was still in the queue. It was very warm and I started feeling unwell so I sat down… and fainted. I landed on my face so cut my nose and there is a bump on my forehead. My shoulders and neck are stiff where I landed heavily. What a performance. The Pharmacist was very kind. They rang for an ambulance. They also rang OH who arrived with a blanket. We decided not to wait for the ambulance but I promised I would contact my GP. So, I am back home. OH had gone to collect my car. I am on the sofa with Milo the cat. I will send an engage consult tomorrow and hopefully see my GP. The Pharmacist suggested that my blood pressure medication should be reduced.
I hope the rest of you are having a better day.

Naughtyneine Tue 26-Sept-23 09:53:34

A very very very belated Happy Birthday to CharlieG and SueD. I'm glad you both had a good day.
Soop... Such lovely happy pictures of you and your family.
I shouldn't be but I'm jealous of your sunshine Yia. I'm missing laying on a sunbed and just reading and someone else preparing food.
Brook...I expect it went all too quickly but hope you had a lovely catch up. Facetime etc is brilliant but nothing beats a real hug does it?
Grandmarie... That was not a nice thing to happen on your holidays at all...I don't know the road but know that I don't like having to stop alongside fast moving traffic... Thank goodness it was sorted out quickly. ( I have actually been to Pitlochry...I was on my way to Kindrogan (a Geography field course centre but it was before I could drive...so many moons ago).
GrandmaB...my late (ex?) Mother in law did the same... Once she knew she couldn't return to her own home she too gave up ...I remember having a weep at her bedside at the hospital and she turned and said Don't cry for me....I asked her if she had had enough and did she want to go to be with her DH and she said yes...in some way that made it easier to understand and to let her go. I'll keep you both in my prayers.
I hope the quiz went well this week Jax.
AnnS.... Difficult friends do stretch out patience a bit don't they?

The sadness of last week seems to be lurking in the background still....I made it onto the plane red eyed and looking like I don't know what...the tears just kept coming and continued on and off the rest of the day even when I was preparing dinner....and even yesterday when a friend asked how my trip had gone they threatened again.....in the swimming pool!!!!!My lovely friend from church ( Wedding Flowers one) said that this living bereavement has no closure and combined with my sister's death is the root of what's happening. I can understand that... but not sure how I deal with it.

Last night was the first of our Bible Timeline studies.... The four who became Catholics at Easter including DOH wanted to continue seeing one another and so decided to do this course....It seems quite ( very ) intense and yesterday's prep was to read a big chunk of the Catholic Catechism ... by the end of the evening all of us looked like rabbits caught in headlights but we are all going to try and stick with it.
I jokingly said why couldn't they have set up a dining group and met monthly to eat, drink and laugh!!!!!.
When I got home I WhatsApped them all and suggested we do exactly that as well...I got back a raft of smiley faces and food and drink emojis so I've got until Oct 28th to garner that Inner Domestic Goddess ( who has to be coaxed out at the best of times especially when the sun is shining and the garden calls)... and get down to those areas that I glance at and think I must dust those skirting boards etc. Trouble is as quick as I do it so one of the dogs decides to shake itself all over my hard work....and it's such a shock to see me on my hands and knees that one of them always feels the need to goose me to make sure I'm still alive.!!!!!!

Nannytopsy Mon 25-Sept-23 21:58:53

GrandmaB I am sorry it has come to this point. I’m another who has been through something similar. Best wishes to you. flowers

SueDonim Mon 25-Sept-23 21:11:30

Thank you for all your kind birthday wishes! I’ve been spoilt, both in person and on line. ❤️

GMbatty I’m so sorry about your mum. flowers

Granmarie you did a proper job on that tyre! shock I’m so glad you had a quick response and all was sorted out.

Hope you’re safely back home now, Brook.

We had heavy rain this morning then the sun came out and blue skies appeared for pretty much the rest of the day. It was windy so the washing dried in superfast time on the washing line.
I went and did that wretched visual field eye test again. I ‘passed’ at the third attempt, which with last week’s carry on made five shots altogether. I couldn’t be bothered to choose glasses today so I’ll go in another time.
Posted some returns this afternoon and took delivery of GS’s birthday present - a scooter.
DS in America FaceTimed last night. My eldest GS’s voice has broken and he’s now 5ft 9! He was not quite 5ft 6in in March. 😂

It’s twenty five years today since my dad died. He was 92 so had a good life and I’m not sad about it now, but it makes you think of time passing. I occasionally have a dream about him, usually involving cars, which he loved, and I find that very comforting. smile

TOYA. Xxx

Scapa1 Mon 25-Sept-23 20:36:32

Grandmabatty sad but sometimes that’s what life is like. My mum decided when she knew she was not going to get better to as they say - turn her head to the wall. She was at home and despite my best efforts she just gave up and stopped eating, sad to watch but it was her choice. Keep strong.
We had our Covid jags today hopefully there will be no reactions. Have the best evening you can everybody.

Blossoming Mon 25-Sept-23 20:12:07

So sorry Grandmabatty flowers

brook2704 Mon 25-Sept-23 19:50:03

That’s so sad to hear about your mum grandmabatty it must be so upsetting for you, sending ❤️
Thanks Jax we’re almost home just on the last leg of the journey now on the bus up to Inverness. All travel went well with no delays so we’ve been lucky. I’ll wave when we pass you in Aviemore grannmarie 👋

Yiayia4 Mon 25-Sept-23 19:45:25

Grandmabatty I feel for you went through the similar with my mother.🌹

Jaxjacky Mon 25-Sept-23 19:16:23

Oh, hope brook is safely home, or near.

Jaxjacky Mon 25-Sept-23 19:15:36

Very sad Grandmabatty but, there comes a time 💐
Looks delightful Yia and warm.
Phew Grannmarie a narrow escape and good response from the AA.
I’m pleased to hear your Mr is spreading his wings corner, although I’ll bet your still a wee bit wary.
Phones today, quiz tonight, have a good evening all.

Charleygirl5 Mon 25-Sept-23 19:03:45

A very belated birthday wish Sued from me. It is good to be perfect is it not?!

Weatherwise today was perfect. I have no idea where the washing comes from, living on my own and no animal bedding to wash any more.

I was taken out for a birthday lunch yesterday so that is it over for another year.

Tonight's supper should be good, duck leg and trimmings and a glass or three of wine. I doubt if I will starve.

Grandmabatty Mon 25-Sept-23 17:56:22

Good evening Kitcheners. Boys are back home. I'm sitting down for a little while before I make dinner. I had a phone call from the hospital to say that mum is refusing medication and refusing to eat. They want a respect form filled in. To be honest, the person who spoke to me didn't have English as their first language and dgs2 was shouting and having fun, so it was difficult to make out what she was saying. I'm going in tomorrow night. I think mum has given up and has decided her life is over. I can't blame her as she is bedridden, incontinent and her memory has mostly gone. So I'll speak to the charge nurse tomorrow to find out exactly what is going on. Not a cheery message from me tonight but it's no more than I expected to be honest. I hope you have a good evening Kitcheners
