Meeting cousin’s two grand daughters and their husbands plus a two year old for lunch at local animal park and hoping the weather holds out - despite horrific forecast it is dampish and windy and they are a tough bunch so should be OK. No other plans for the day but will enjoy the company so much.

Good morning from the NE where it is raining yet again.
My sister rang last night and talked for two hours about her holiday cruise. I was ready for bed after that.
My younger sister says she thinks she might try and visit me this afternoon, her DH still has a leg brace on for his ruptured achilles tendon and she fell on the stairs last weekend and injured her knee. She says they have cabin fever and need to see other people.
Have the best day you can considering the weather, it is now torrential again here.

Good morning from a very wet Essex coast. I think this is it for today.
We have to go our soon for a few bits but the rest of the day will be spent indoors.
My 7 year old DGD has spent the week at a 'Matilda' workshop and yesterday they put on a show for the parents. My DD sent me a video. I was in tears, E had a small solo and was so confident and mature. A star in the making. She has already said she wants to do it again next year.
I feel for you Mary after the debacle with the beer, men eh !!!
Have the best Saturday you can despite the awful weather xxx

Good morning from a wet Oxfordshire.
Nothing planned today.
Marydoll I feel for you, time for MrDoll to step up and sort his mess out whilst you direct the operation.
Hope everyone has a good day, thoughts always of course for Urms, Kalu and Baggs

Good morning everyone from north Kent where it is raining and cold. Like everywhere else it is going to be a dreadful day weather wise. I think my beautiful begonias growing in pots on the patio will suffer a battering in the high winds which are forecast for later.

Yesterday we met up with some friends for lunch in a pub on the seafront which was very pleasant to catch up.

Nothing planned for today until later this evening when we are going out to some friends; we take turn and turn about to order a Chinese takeaway and play a variety of board games.

Hope you all have a good day

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Lancashire.

No plans today other than housework and pottering. I’m a bit stiff and sore after the de-clutter.

Glad your prolonged optician visit was positive GrandMattie.

Hope the dress rehearsal goes well Ash .

A trip to the festival sounds exciting Taichinan, hope it isn’t too overwhelming.

What can I say Marydoll, a beery kitchen does not appeal at all!

Thinking of Baggs, Urms and Kalu and all those dealing with worries and illness, hope today brings some comfort.

Have a good day all whatever you’re doing 🌻🌻

Morning all from a damp West Oxfordshire. I will be mainly ironing and packing today. OH is visiting his bees. Apparently they don’t like rain. Tough! Commiserations MaryD. Why are men so difficult? Glad your specs are being sorted GM. Thoughts of all those with troubles, especially Urms. Have a good day - the final thing I will do today is checking in for my flightsmile

Marydoll Sat 05-Aug-23 09:21:04

Update:
DH brought me a cuppa in bed, has just helped me strip the bed, put on the washing and is now washing the kitchen floors!
I think he may be feeling a tad guilty! wink.

Good morning from Durham. What an awful run of wet weather we’re having.
Yesterday’s babysitting was tiring - surprisingly so, as I planned to watch Miss Marple and fell asleep as it started.
Coffee with a friend at some point today but my hard floors need to be steamed following Little Dog’s extended stay.
Thanks for the update MaryD the smell of beer isn’t pleasant?
Best wishes to all. X

Sometimes a frosty start to the day is effective, Marydoll!

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Aug-23 09:41:21

My morning hasn't got off to a good start. The trolley at Aldi overturned and everything hit the ground, including a dozen eggs. 🙄 It was completely my fault as I hadn't stacked the trolley properly so it was top heavy. I'm very annoyed at myself.

luluaugust Sat 05-Aug-23 10:00:24

Good morning from a very wet W Kent. Piles of washing and ironing all hanging around but gradually getting done. A visit to DS and DIL this afternoon. My lovely DIL has been diagnosed with breast cancer, all the pre op things have been done very swiftly indeed and an op will take place soon. Such a shock for us all including DDIL
Grandmabatty what a thing to happen I bet the eggs made a right old mess.
Marydoll hope the pong goes off soon!
Take care everyone.

Gwenisgreat Sat 05-Aug-23 10:09:37

Good morning all from grey Harrogate, hope you meet up with your family later today Ashcombe.
Glad you have an answer to your headaches GrandMattie
Marydoll isn’t it strange how faultless men are? In our house I appear to be the faulty one! On Tuesday I went with a group to Yorke House where the owner welcomes us to paint and sketch in her garden. I tried unsuccessfully with oil pastels, then slightly more successfully watercolours! We had a good chat as well!
I am developing a cough - nightmare!! Will have to get rid of it soon. 😮 oooh! Grandnabattie that’s the sort of thing that happens to me!
How MrCorner is improving all the time
Have the best day possible folks!

A belated Good Morning from Foxyland where as Ginny has said, the weather is diabolical. However, although my heart goes out to all who are or hoping to be camping, watching or playing cricket , running fêtes, looking after energetic tinies, I have to own up tgat for me this weather is perfect as my gardener spent a long afternoon yesterday sorting out my borders, putting in some new planting, cutting back, blitzing my pots which were in a sorry state and finally cutting the grass. She watered everything in, but Mother Nature is doing an even better job of it. She (gardener) has just appeared at the gate to take away 4 very big and two smaller metal pots which had rusted through and we deemed due for the tip but being heavy I was a bit wary of trying to load them into the car. Bless her, her husband is doing a tip run this morning and is taking my pots too. Some people are so kind.
Book group yesterday was nice as always and I got away with not liking the book over much. There was the inevitable cooing from two friends about “Firenze mi amore”. hmm
I think today might be a Netflix and knitting kind of day and I hope yours is as pleasant as conditions permit ☔️☔️☔️☔️☔️

I have just seen Luluaugust ‘s post and send you warmest wishes for her complete recovery. Thinking of you flowers

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Aug-23 10:16:25

Luluaugust what a shock for your family. I wish your ddil a speedy recovery.

aggie Sat 05-Aug-23 10:21:45

Good morning from a very soggy Co Armagh, the rain was beating against the windows and woke me up , I couldn’t get back to sleep
grandMattie that’s very bad , no wonder you had headaches
Marydoll smelly beery kitchen is a good excuse for no dinner ! Great tip for cleaning the dishwasher , or was that the washing machine ?

Auntieflo Sat 05-Aug-23 10:23:59

Good morning Mick, Annie and all, from a wet and grey bit of Berks. What with the strong winds and stormy weather promised over the weekend, I had to check that garden parasol was down and safe. It was.
Shopping done yesterday after coffee at Church. The coffee morning was in aid of the charity Cowshed, but when we were there, it was very quiet. Hope they made some money from cake sales. The Lemon Drizzle was very nice!
GrandMattie, what a palaver over your specs, but glad to hear that it has been resolved at long last.
Oh Grandmabatty, how on earth do you manage to overturn a supermarket trolley? They are so heavy. You didn't hurt yourself trying to save it, did you?
Hope the frost is thawing Marydoll 🤗 and that the beery smell goes soon.
Is it worth trying to appeal your car park charge Hollysteers, if the signage wasn't clear. £100.00 seems an awful lot to pay.
Fingers crossed that Duncan, your Cairn, is better today WWM2. We used to have a Cairn and is much missed.
DD and SIL are coming later, so things to do before they arrive.
So many of you here are such early birds, you put me to shame.
Best wishes to all who are under the weather and feeling poorly.
Have a good day one and all.

Grandmabatty Sat 05-Aug-23 10:31:00

AuntieFlo I'm absolutely ok. Thank you for your concern. It ran away from me down the ramp and tipped over at the bottom. The only things hurt were the eggs. And my pride!

Taichinan Sat 05-Aug-23 10:48:58

Oh Marydoll - whatever next! A beer-smelling house is not the best - and so sticky! Reminds me of the time DH made raspberry wine. He duly added the sugar but forgot to allow for the natural sugar in the fruit. The result was a very pink airing cupboard and a good few loads of washing! Smelt not too bad though 😉

luluaugust Sat 05-Aug-23 11:26:47

Thank you for your kind wishes

brook2704 Sat 05-Aug-23 11:27:30

luluaugust hoping your Dil gets the very best possible treatment and is well on the road to recovery soon 💐

Litterpicker Sat 05-Aug-23 11:52:03

Good morning from wet and windy West Sussex. I have rescued the single rose on my Gertrude Jekyll and dabbed it gently with kitchen roll. I hope the new buds on the bush won’t rot in the rain.

Did some garden tidying yesterday while DH carried on at the allotment. I have almost finished putting things back in cupboards after the furniture move around.

I think MrMarydoll should be making cuppas and doing housework penance for at least a fortnight 😂

Glad you’ve solved the mystery of your headaches, Grandmattie.

brook, lovely to see the dolphins. We sat at Chanonry Point for a long time, one sunny evening in May but no luck. I found lots of sea glass while waiting though.

luluaugust, sorry to hear of your DDiL’s diagnosis. Best wishes for a successful treatment.

We will have to venture out into the storm to pick up a book from the library and catch the last day of the local camera club exhibition. A little ‘fresh’ air will do us good!

Anniebach Sat 05-Aug-23 12:11:09

Good morning Auntyflo and all x
