Yesterday I spent the day at the Fringe with a friend. 2 thought-provoking plays, an exhibition, a vegan lunch, a glass of wine in an old pub, some street performances, a long bus ride home and we plan to do another day next week.
It's great to see Edinburgh full of happy people again.

Good morning everyone from a rather grey English Channel, somewhere off the Cornish coast. Our last day at sea, and packing needs to be done......

We had beautiful weather yesterday to explore Cork, and its port of Cobh. Cobh was looking exceptionally stunning in the sunshine. I found the indoor market in Cork, for some reason called the 'English Market'; the produce on offer was amazing.
Spent the afternoon relaxing on a sunbed, and then it was time gor our final formal night. Afterwards danced non-stop to the excellent 60s tribute band New Amen Corner!
Time to get ready for breakfast.

I’m having a visit from a tiler today to quote me a price for fixing the loose slates on my roof. The nurse is coming to change the dressing on my wound and finally a man is coming to mow my little overgrown lawn it’ll be a busy day

Off down to the Parish Hall this morning for Zumba, then a visit to the fish man who very considerately parks his van next to,Lidl & opposite Aldi. Some food shopping is also needed. No plans for the rest of the day, I intend to enjoy the sunshine while I can.

Morning everyone from S Lanarkshire where it’s still cloudy but we are promised sun later.

I am home from my cruise to Norway with two DDs and one DGD. We had a wonderful holiday with lots of sunshine and laughter and too much good food! I’ll try to attach a couple of photos from Bergen, one of the very interesting old town, and one from the top of the funicular. Fires have destroyed most of the original wooden buildings which were very closely built and now of course building is done with brick at least in highly populated areas.
We were exceptionally lucky with the weather since it seems to rain in Bergen most days of the year!

I look forward to catching up now with everyone’s news and wish a good day to all.

Good morning from a sunny Suffolk. The only downside for me is that the sun shows all the dust on the outside of our windows! We haven’t been able to find another window cleaner since ours retired some time ago through ill health and I’ve banned DH from climbing a ladder since he toppled off a step ladder years ago and broke his knee. Perhaps we’ll be like Quentin Crisp who said that dust stopped collecting after 4 years!!

I have my stretch class this morning and then a pedicure. We are going on our cruise tomorrow around the British Isles visiting several places like the Isle of Man where we haven’t been before and places like the Scilly Isles which we love.

I always have a digital ‘detox’ when on holiday so I won’t be posting til after our return on the 21st. I hope you and your families stay well and enjoy life and those with health and other worries find comfort and support.

Good morning all where its another sunny day here in the Black country, yesterday I got as far as Burton via Lichfield on my bus trip out.
Today the front lawn will get a cut, later we are meeting friends one whose birthday it is he is 90 he is having a meal for friends and family on Sunday so tonight will just be a drink.
Mizuna glad the tree missed your greenhouse and the frog was not injured.

A second day with our DGC and a DGdog, today with their uncle’s exuberant puppy. Further exploration of woodland dens and enjoyment of swings awaits. George Ezra’s “Shotgun” has become our theme tune - all sing along and dance before we embark on our adventures.

Daughter and children arrived on their holiday isle for a week of sun and fun safely, we’re on cat feeding duty in their absence.
Bedding ready for the machine, floors to wash, a walk and later water the hanging baskets and pots.

Yesterday was quiet. Haircut then home. I pottered about and made a vast pot of slow cooker chilli which was very nice. I'll freeze the majority of it later.
I'm meeting up with a friend and a girl who was a probationer in our department some time ago. We were at her wedding and now she's had a baby so we are catching up. She's a lovely girl so it will be nice to see her and her baby. I'll have to nip out to buy a wee gift for her first. Later I'll visit mum. I had a phone call from the hospital yesterday asking my permission to transfer information to a social worker. Sadly mum didn't do poa and her future rests with social services. I expect they will push for a return home which would not be in her best interests. My brother is worse than useless. Anyway, that's a fight for another day. Have a good day all

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The sun is up in South Yorkshire again. I had a nice afternoon with our writing group yesterday - I took three new pieces, which is a record for me, the newbie. Met my next door neighbour coming in with her children as I was leaving - good to see that the library is alive and well for a new generation. We always took GS from being quite small.
Walking with the woods group this morning then lunch with DD and I think the plan is for me to drive GS over here so that he can help me tame the Badlands at the back of the garden wall, and cut the back lawn. But plans have a habit of changing with teenagers!

Good morning from sunny Shropshire.

DH and I enjoyed our coach trip yesterday although we were exhausted when we got home!I had done 14,000 steps.Quite a while since I have clocked up that many.

Today we will collect the children for three days.DD1 has booked a last minute holiday for next week so will be working non stop so she gets everything done before her unscheduled week off.We have to go to mums as she has Specsavers coming today.What can go wrong, one 90 year old and two children and an eye appointment🤷‍♀️🤯oh and lunch out🤪

I will be another tracking a flight as DD2 is flying off on holiday with her little family.B’s first flight.As they arrived at the airport he said are we sure this is safe, we aren’t invincible you know😂

Glad you got to spend time with your son and grandson Ash and that your daughter is enjoying her much awaited holiday in Australia.

Good morning from a glorious sunny South Downs. I’m planning to sit and enjoy the sun today after so many weeks of autumnal weather.

Enjoyed our day in and around Goodwood yesterday, after lunch we motored down to West Dene and spent time in the walled garden and greenhouses admiring the flowers, before a cup of tea.

Mr and Mrs Fox looked so sweet sat together waiting patiently for their supper. Miss black cat was sat daring them to come near, but they crept gradually closer making a wide detour around her. It is weird because the cats never attempt to eat the food.

Definitely some lazy gardening today, although I find august generally an easy month before the bulb planting season and general autumn clear up. I used to always plant perennial etc then as well but lost too many to rain or frost so now wait until spring.

mizuma does sycamore burn well? Logs for the fire! Not sure how long they need seasoning.

I do love a challenge Ash and was more amused than bemused at the sight of the tree because from a distance I'd thought my plot had overgrown very quickly, when I was actually looking at the prone top branches of the tree! I do wish I'd seen it fall.

Mizuna: that should say “didn't fall”! I previewed it as well. 🙄

Good morning where we have a promising start to the day. Last night we had mist, verging on fog so I’m pleased that's gone.

As I drove home, a fox dashed across the road, which is not the first time I’ve seen one, despite it being an urban area. We have a Mrs. Fox in the play, who is a bit of a foxy lady, Foxygloves!

Yesterday, I spent a lovely few hours with my DS and DGS3 who've enjoyed their time in Torbay and will visit again next week. They live in Staffs and DGS3 (aged 7) spends time with each parent since they split up. It is reasonably amicable and the child seems to cope admirably.

I’m lunching with two friends from Toads today so no doubt we shall catch up on theatre gossip! There’s always plenty of that!!

My goodness, Mizuna! I’m glad that tree fall when you were there! What a shock, nevertheless!

My DD2 and family are in Australia, LLFL, staying with DD1 and family in Geelong, VIC. They’ve been touring the Grampians and will be visiting Sydney and Melbourne. What a lovely photo!

Good morning Mick and all from a bright and sunny Oxfordshire.
MrOops and MissOops had a really good day yesterday at the beach and visiting family. I was so cross that the Nephew at the last minute decided not to go, as I already had the dog I was surprised that he couldnt come over to stay at ours with her so that I could go with MrOops, I need to go down soon as my BIL is having a scan today which will determine whether or not he continues with the Palliative care which is now causing a lot of problems, he is not convinced that it is worth it as he is so ill between doses of chemo. It’s so sad and I’m cross that I didn’t get to see him yesterday.
Anyway, I pottered in the garden, sorted out the last of the bookshelves, so not a wasted day and it was so lovely to be outdoors and not get rained on.
I had 2 Doctor and 1 hospital appointment letters plop through the letterbox yesterday! All in August, so that’s something to look forward too. In these precarious times it’s good to see that routine stuff is still being sorted.

Afternoon everyone. The sun is shining today so it is looking more Australian! An old friend (a cousin of my brother’s first wife) drove me to the beach this morning. We had a walk along a headland and then coffee and cake at a cafe. My brother rang for a chat. He will be here tomorrow with the daughter whose wedding is on Saturday. He said he would write his father of the bride speech on the train. I am feeling very jet lagged again so will probably have a little snooze. This photo is the view through the cafe window.

Good morning from a somewhat dark and overcast Cornwall. Crazy day yesterday. To my allotment to find a huge sycamore tree had fallen across half of my plot, missing my greenhouse by inches. A friend (pictured) rallied and together we sawed and lopped the smaller branches so that I could find my pond again. The resident frog wasn't squashed, phew. The council will be responsible for removing the trunk. I brewed a coffee on my gas ring in the shed and we admired our handiwork in the sun. Later at home my daughter asked if she could stay overnight so she could have a bath so I quickly made my flat blind-person-friendly and we ate luxury ice cream and had a lovely girlie evening. Today, coffee with my daughter-in-law at Wetherspoons roof garden where the planting is inspirational.

Good morning from a bright Bristol.
Was very quiet yesterday, I fiddled about with some complicated patch, which turned out fine. The squares were smaller at 23 1/2” than I had used before.
Had a nice chat to some of the inmates sitting out, enjoying the afternoon sun.
DD and family are back, I think they enjoyed their Interrailing. I’m to dine with them tonight.
Tai chi today with weird teacher and trying out the star square which I learned to make on a zoom tutorial last night…
