Good Morning Everyone,
Its grey cloud above and signs of rain on the ground here in brackley this morning.
Today , I will most likely go to Bicester on the bus and have a breakie type sandwich for a change .
I hope to have a Saturday like I used to , with a Chinese Take Away later .
As to myself , my weight is starting to comeback to what it was pre op ,as i do keep a record of it weekly .
Take Care,
Mick

Morning from S Lanarkshire, windy but brightening up.

Glad yesterday is behind you grandMattie, today will be better💐

Poor sleep last night and as nothing on this morning I think I’ll give myself another wee snooze. I hope celebrations planned for to day go really well, Whitewavemark and Grammaretto!

Best wishes everyone for as good a day as possible.

Sorry to hear about the covid Jacs, hope it’s a mild dose and you’re better soon

Wedding anniversary today ... he died 3 years ago. How do we get through these things? I have not reminded the girls of this. Was going into town for a festival in the cathedral close but weather is grim.

Sadly the patient possesses not a patient bone in his body brook. A physio advised him to listen to his wife. Strange how heart surgery causes hearing loss hmm.

Grandmadinosaur Sat 19-Aug-23 08:10:33

Good morning all from our weekend retreat in East Yorkshire.

Thank you for our anniversary wishes yesterday. We had a nice relaxing day. Had coffee at a place over the bridge. There is a row of about 8 independent shops next to it. I bought a really nice jacket and some chocolates from a chocolatier who is a lady from Brazil. Had an Italian for lunch its just round the corner. After that we drove here and spent the evening relaxing with some fizz.

There was a lot of rain overnight but it’s supposed to be a decent day, This afternoon there is a singer in the courtyard so we will take our chairs up and have a pleasant afternoon,

I am another one who’d have loved to seen your production Ash pleased it’s been so well received.
Your trip sounds wonderful brook don’t overdo it for your DH and his new knee!

Have a good day,

luckygirl, flowers and a warm hug. A sad day for you.

Good morning from Shropshire.Torrential rain overnight, dry now and set to improve later.

Today it is 29 years since my darling dad died.I feel sad for many reasons.I miss him, he was young,I had to give the decision to turn off his life support which even though I know was the right thing I always think maybe I should have said no.Also my mum would be a different person had he lived. He made her happy and she loved life then.

I had a nurses appointment. My head is healing well but need to keep on the antibiotics. While at the surgery we asked for a physio appointment for DH thinking weeks and she said are you able to wait, you can be seen in 15 minutes.I said to the nurse what amazing service we have had this week from the surgery and she said that’s good to hear but very unusual🤷‍♀️

Balloon festival this weekend. This mornings flight was cancelled.Hopefully the evening flight and night glow will take place.

Thinking of Urms,Kalu and Baggs💐

Am so glad the dr was able to reassure you and Mr C corner and that all the surgery stuff is in place.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning all from a wet and breezy Glasgow, where it is 16°C.
Yet another disturbed night, due to pain. I'm getting really fed up with it, especially as there is nothing much to be done to alleviate it.

I have little planned, apart from battling the dreaded church admin and opening up for Vigil Mass tonight.
Yesterday was a bit of a disappointing day. Our trip to see Babydoll was cancelled, as was our proposed visit friends in Ayr on Tuesday.
We had planned to have an adventure and go by train. I even renewed my Disabled Person's Railcard, which ran out during the pandemic, in anticipation of the trip. I had thought I may never be well enough again to use it, so didn't bother renewing it. Fortunately my Blue Badge had just been renewed and I had a suitable picture handy.
To my amazement, it was painless and downloaded to my phone in less than twenty four hours. Isn't technology wonderful?

At Sainsburys yesterday, I made a bit of a fool of myself. On arrival, I noticed that none of the cars beside me in the disabled bays at the front door, were displaying Blue Badges, despite there being plenty of space elsewhere.
I did something I had never done, challenged the driver, who parked beside me and walked away without displaying a badge.
She wasn't in the least bit embarrassed, telling me that there were plenty of spaces and asked what my problem was. I explained that often the spaces in this busy supermarket are at a premium and that sometimes people with mobility issues, struggle to find a space.
I told her she was selfish and entitled and she should think of those less fortunate than herself, as she ran across the car park. 😡
This is something, I have never done, but every time I visit, it gets worse and I often despair at the I'm alright Jack attitude, of some of humanity. In my very weak defence, I wasn't feeling too good and was not in the best of spirits.
The irony of the whole situation was that, when I struggled back to my car, and elderly gentleman checked my car to see if I was displaying a badge! 😂

Sorry to hear a few of you are feeling poorly and hoping you are on the mend soon.
I was checking yesterday when my next Covid and flu vaccinations are due, this will be my seventh, due to being CEV. With Covid on the rise again, I may have to once more, curtail my activities. So many on GN, going by the threads, have succumbed

Fingers crossed, you feel more upbeat today, GM.

We too have our joint car insurance policy. to renew, it has increased by 20%! 😱 That is greater than the rate of inflation.

I wish you all a pleasant Saturday, whatever your plans..

Susan56 Sat 19-Aug-23 08:23:02

Good Morning from a sunny S Yorks.

Short trip to the gym and a much needed haircut today.

Bests for poorlies body and mind, and may todays ventures go as well as they might

harrigran Sat 19-Aug-23 08:26:51

Good morning from Yorkshire, I think it may have stopped raining.
The holiday cottage is superb.
We did a little shop last night and then had dinner at a local restaurant, it was very good.
Spent the rest of the evening watching the proms on iplayer.
Today we are going to the nearby deli to get some tasty things and then maybe a trip to Fountains Abbey.
Have a good day.

Marydoll Sat 19-Aug-23 08:26:59

I cannot believe it is three years, Lucky, I remember your difficult journey and now you have your own health issues. A sad day for you. 💐

Oopsadaisy1 Sat 19-Aug-23 08:31:56

Good morning from a very sunny day in Oxfordshire, let’s hope it lasts after a wet night.
Housework and bed changing today as I’ve been in the garden or out and about all week.
We had a good lunch yesterday but it was a 3 hour round trip in the same direction as we had gone the day before, but with even more traffic, we came back over the downs, empty roads and nicer scenery than the A34.
GS was delighted with his A level results,( although as he’s away he hadn’t heard about the Downgrading of marks this year,) he’s travelling in Europe at the moment via Inter-rail and forgot about results day until he received a congratulatory message from his chosen University whilst he was in Serbia, so that’s another thing sorted. MzOops collected his results from his college later that day.
Lovely pics Ash I like the place mats.
GM you’ve had so much turmoil over the past months, I’m not surprised that you had a blip.
So sorry that so many Grans are unwell, but hoping that today will be a bit better for you all.
Let’s hope the sun shines on us all today.

Good morning everyone I too had a a disturbing night Marydoll but not due to pain it was absolutely tipping it down here on the east coast of Fife. I had a lovely meet up with 2 other granny’s the other day such nice ladies hope you have a better day today.

Wishing all a good day

Auntieflo Sat 19-Aug-23 08:49:41

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It's grey here, but at least it's not raining.
Yesterday we stayed in as it was so miserable outside, but it did cheer up later. I got a lot of my book read.
GrandMattie, sorry to hear that you were feeling miserable and under the weather yesterday. You usually put such a cheery face to the world, and are so busy. I hope that today brings a better feeling.
Our Church has been having August afternoons at 2, and so far I have managed to get to two of them, and they have been lovely. One talented lady did a story reading and last time was poetry. We have had accordion music and a Barbershop Choir, so I am looking forward to what surprises come next week.
Sorry that you are having such uncomfortable nights Marydoll. Sometimes I get comfy on the sofa and don't want to move and go to bed. Our car insurance is also coming up for renewal in the next couple of weeks. Sometimes I just wonder why we don't just get hung upside down and all our pockets are emptied, drip by drip?
flowers for all those who have had losses, and {{{hugs}}} for the poorlies and their families.
Have a good day one and all.

GrannySomerset Sat 19-Aug-23 08:52:05

“Ambushed by sadness” describes it exactly, gMattie, and I hope today is better, but I do know what you mean and how hard it can be.

I have an empty today and plan to tackle my shoe collection to work out what I can actually wear and dispose of those I can’t. At the moment my bedroom looks like a very low grade jumble sale and I can bear it no longer - which is positive I suppose, as I have put off tackling such jobs for far too long. Meanwhile hope everyone’s plans come to fruition.

I was wondering how you got on Multi. Nice to see Bridie in the photo!

A late good morning from a brightening S Hampshire, good, we have friends coming for a bbq later, they’re bringing everything and cooking, a long story!
Lots of ‘doings’ here this morning.
Luckygirl a poignant day for you 💐
grandMattie it’s no surprise you have the odd miz day, fingers crossed today is a brighter one 🦩
Hope all outings go well today, plays, parties and holidays too.

EkwaNimitee Sat 19-Aug-23 09:11:05

Good morning Mick and everyone from cloudy Carlisle. It appears to have rained in the night here and it's a bit breezy but the heavy rain and strong winds forecast seem not to have happened. Unless I unusually slept very very soundly that is!

I was planning to walk out to get a paper but I think I might get rather wet, the clouds are darkening....
It looks like a day firmly inside. I might do some jobs that have been nagging at me or I might just start another book.

Wishing you all some joy in the day.

aggie Sat 19-Aug-23 09:11:43

Good morning from a wet Co Armagh, the storm was getting up steam as I went to bed early , an empty watering can was banging about , but I was too tired to retrieve it , apart from not wanting to get soaked !
Our sweet pea has abandoned its moorings and hanging down in a very dejected manner , we’ll attempt to prop it up later
Sorry to read of sadness today 🕯️🙏🏼

GrannyGravy13 Sat 19-Aug-23 09:12:16

Morning all from a grey S E Essex, we had rain overnight.

Need to do a local shop first thing, then I shall pack for going away with DD and her boys. We are off to a hotel in the New Forest which will include a day at Peppa Pig World, The Imp doesn’t know, we cannot wait to see his little face when he meets his piggy heroes.

DH is looking forward to having the house to himself, he is house trained and can cook so he will be fine.

Sorry to hear you had a sad day grandMattie be gentle on yourself.
MaryDoll you know what you gave to do REST
Beautiful photos Brook
Those on holiday, enjoy.
Poorly friends and relatives, rest and recovery is prescribed.

Will not be posting whilst away, be good dear friends 🙋‍♀️🦩

Good morning Mick and all from a very breezy dull northwest coast. I stayed up too late watching The Beauty Queen of Hollywood series on Netflix, v good but compelling and not as silly as it sounds, rather disturbing in places.
After our run through for concert on Monday, I shopped and rather like grandMattie, felt emotional in the evening, thinking of all who had passed. I have my ‘music to cry to’, so listened to that. I’m not sure if there such a thing as a ‘good’, it can drain you.
My bedroom window needs attention, a handle fixture has broken and it’s flying open in the wind. As it’s my bedroom window facing the neighbours, I prefer it to be private. The wind is blowing the nets, or should I say voiles aside, so it’s open to view. It’s actually blown off before😁 I’m hoping my handy son can sort it on his next visit.

Glad your weight is returning to normal Mick, great pics here today and thoughts to all with troubles 🌹

A good cry!

A late good morning from Sefton where the weather just cannot make up its mind. Brightening with intermittent sunshine at the back of the house, dull & dismal with heavy grey clouds at the front.
An unplanned day today apart from a visit to the farm shop for veg. We are having our Sunday roast today just for a change. It will be local lamb from Lancashire. Today's activities will be weather dependant....garden or a good book.
Take care all.

luluaugust Sat 19-Aug-23 09:41:52

Good morning from a sunny W Kent. A supermarket shop this morning as yesterday we went to Aylesford Priory to light a candle for our DDIL who will have her cancer operation on Wednesday, all being well. Her DD (our GD) came off a plane on Thursday with a temperature so we all have everything crossed.
Sorry to hear you had a rough day*gM*, your empties would be my fulls!! Take care.
Marydoll hope you get some sleep soon.
Luckygirl flowers
Best wishes to all.
