Angela Rayner as Deputy Prime Minister God help us šŸ™

What do you think?

Primrose has made it clear that she wouldn’t ever vote Labour anyway, so her opinion of Angela Rayner isn’t worth a bean. It’s people who will be voting Labour who Angela needs to convince. I think this role is right for her, she will fight her battles strongly because she cares, and I hope she will do well.

Well as you'd never vote Conservative, your opinion of this Government isn't worth a bean. Wouldn't you say?

I would never call anybody from any party ā€˜rough and common’, and base my comments about them on that Freya5, would you? There is a huge difference between commenting on a politician’s actions in their job and personal criticism in my book. You’re right though, I’d never vote Tory.

Each to their own but as a disillusioned Labour voter, and paid up union worker (I voted for Lisa Nandy) I won’t vote for them while Starmer and Rayner are at the helm. He keeps changing his mind and she really wouldn’t be great on the international political platform. Calling people scum when you can’t put together a decent argument really isn’t the way forward.

Agree Hetty58, I think many will vote tactically for the candidate most likely to beat the Tory

Hetty58 Mon 04-Sept-23 20:47:13

I'll be happy to vote for just anyone - to get this pathetic bunch of clowns out. That seems to be the general opinion around here anyway.

I wasn’t sure about Angela when Corbyn gave her education but my view changed. She’s grown into her roles. She’s clever, entertaining and understands the real difficulties so many face
I’m pleased with Starmer’s reshuffle
Wes Streeting was good on ch4 news

Your judgemental, patronising post is offensive . a friend who never lost her broad Lancs accent etc etc
I’m northern though as a southerner once said ā€˜are yiu dear, you can’t tellā€
Go Angela

How is that patronising? I love to hear regional accents and my friend obviously loves hers and sees no reason to change it.

This decision will be regretted.

AR is just so rough and common.

I have a friend who has never lost her broad Lancs accent but she is super bright, very well educated and polite and charming. She can mix with anybody and people listen to her because she knows how to interact.

AR not only looks like she should be hanging around the streets but she sounds awful, like she has a mouthful of marbles and sneers when she talks about people from other parties and calls them ā€œscumā€.

She did have a rough start in life but smart people learn to adapt their dress and behaviour when they move on in life.

I would rather have Lisa Nandy than her, at least she is polite and more approachable.

Gillian Keegan šŸ˜µā€šŸ’«. I’m waiting for Sunak to say he has full confidence, that guarantees she’ll go

Angela Raynor -great news on her appointment and remaining deputy leader.

We Streeting good on ch 4 news just now

Bridie22 Mon 04-Sept-23 19:29:22

Well done on your new appointments Angela, I think you are a breath of normality!

MayBee70 Mon 04-Sept-23 18:35:21

There’s only one answer to this really. I give you Gillian Keegan….

"If John Prescott could do it, so could she."

What in anyone's life experience/education makes that that a truth?

Dinahmo Tue 22-Aug-23 12:16:06

eazybee

She lacks education, and this period has been the best time ever for people who fouled up their chances at school to resume their education, with a great deal of financial support.
If John Prescott could do it, so could she.
I don't know how she can mix with well-educated people every day and not want to emulate them.

I regularly watch Uni Chall and am constantly surprised at how little knowledge many of the students have of the arts and music. These are subjects that many people talk about socially and such knowledge can be useful in job interviews for example since they show that one is a well rounded person.

So, what do you think comprises a good education?

maddyone Tue 22-Aug-23 12:01:10

No, I realise that that but they were said by our parliamentarians.

I don’t really care about accents but I do care about what is said in Parliament. I don’t like Tory scum but nor do I like let the bodies pile high.
Both comments are unnecessary and unkind, and certainly unbecoming from our political classes.

Neither of them were said in Parliament.

How very unkind to say that people with posh accents make you sick and are posers, nanna8. Many kind and genuine people were born into families with posh accents or went to a school or worked in a profession where they were expected to speak in a certain way.

Anniebach Tue 22-Aug-23 10:13:15

I so dislike talk of posh accents / working class accents.

Funny about the posh accents. I assume they are thick. Seriously. Just my experiences in life but it is very, very rare to hear one in Australia now.

What a stupidly ignorant thing to say.

I am stupidly ignorant. I’m a bloody Aussie and we don’t do accents. I detest posh accents, they make me sick. Posers.

What inverted snobbery. Don't like posh accents. At least you can understand what they are saying.

nanna8 Tue 22-Aug-23 09:39:50

You’re right of course, Dickens. Sometimes my humour can be a bit off. Mea Culpa.

People grow up absorbing the accent of their background whether it be from a privileged one or not.

A "posh" accent doesn't mean its owner is a "poser" nor does a northern accent indicate that someone is dumb.

People from both demographics can be posers - attention-seeking self-publicists.
