Angela Rayner as Deputy Prime Minister God help us šŸ™

What do you think?

It’s a boringly English trait to attempt to avoid being directly rude to people with whom we disagree.
MerylStreep was direct here. It does happen when we get very cross -

Funny about the posh accents. I assume they are thick. Seriously. Just my experiences in life but it is very, very rare to hear one in Australia now.

What a stupidly ignorant thing to say.

I am stupidly ignorant. I’m a bloody Aussie and we don’t do accents. I detest posh accents, they make me sick. Posers.

No Annie, never ā€˜our Boris’. Always Mr Johnson or just Johnson

She isn’t our Angela, she’s an MP, not a mate or a friend. She represents her constituency, not all of us.

... and yet a considerable number of people spoke of Boris Johnson as if he were their 'friend'... referring to him as Boris.

I'm still trying to work out who he represented - apart from himself.

She lacks education, and this period has been the best time ever for people who fouled up their chances at school to resume their education, with a great deal of financial support.
If John Prescott could do it, so could she.
I don't know how she can mix with well-educated people every day and not want to emulate them.

That’s hilarious šŸ˜‚ what planet are you on.

She may not have what some regard as education but she has achieved a great deal by becoming Deputy Leader of a great political party (Mrs Thatcher's description of the Labour Party). A Tory Minister used to be a fireplace salesman.

Another was a lorry driver.

Yes Iam I’m a northerner too, although not living in the north now. Still a fairly regular visitor though. But I’ve never referred to any politician as our. In fact I rarely do so for my family any longer.

The rest of the world has little respect for the UK right now. Little wonder as we have little respect for ourselves and our country. Does anyone honestly think that having Angela Rayner representing us on the world stage is going to enhance our image?

What countries have you traveled to recently to form this opinion.

Yvette Cooper.

Penny Mordaunt.

Angela Rayner - I admire her 'get up and go'. Her background has not made it easy to get to where she is. But she lacks a certain gravitas, a certain sobriety is the only way I can express it. I'd like to see her in "health" in some capacity or other.

Eh up maddyone, it’s a northern thing, to refer to others as ā€˜our’ Angela. We even do it about our mums and sisters.
She represents a lot to many of us, including coping with adversity and getting on with it

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 19:44:11

Sorry, Rayner!

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 19:43:02

But that doesn’t mean I want Angela Raynor either!

Anniebach Mon 21-Aug-23 19:42:36

I doubt Dorries will be considered for deputy PM in a Labour
Government

In answer to your question foxie,
No.

Ken Pollard, the mayor of the council said: ā€œI have been asked to write to you formally on behalf of the residents of Shefford to raise the town’s concerns and frustration at the continuing lack of representation for the people of Mid Bedfordshire at Westminster.

ā€œIn your role as the acting member of parliament of Mid Bedfordshire, residents of Shefford feel that, due to your scant interest in your constituency, your aversion to attending local events or services and your lack of a maintained constituency office, the local area has been ā€˜abandoned’ by yourself.

ā€œYour last spoken contribution in the House of Commons was on June 7, 2022, and your last written question was asked on the December 20, 2017. In addition, your behaviour and actions reported in the press are in direct violation of ā€˜the seven principles of public life’ (also known as the Nolan principles, published on May 31 1995), which apply to anyone who works as a public officeholder and all those who are elected or appointed to public office.ā€
Part of letter sent to Nadine Dorries . Would anyone really prefer to have this joke of an MP as Deputy P.M? BJ actually wanted her in the second chamber, total madness!

I’m sure Rishi has plenty of nous. Was previously a successful banker and knows how to make money.

A lot of clever people have to be practical - doctors for instance. I don’t claim to be clever, just hard working, but my job required a lot of common sense.

The ability to.make money isn't a particularly good preparation for a political career.
He's not displaying much interest in the issues that concern most voters and has a poor grasp of political economy.

Quite. She’s not my Angela. I have no desire to be associated with her.

He sure does. apparently he invested £500 million in Moderna at the time of the commissioning of vaccines. I read this in a different thread on hear I think. It could be wrong but somehow I doubt it.

And is there something wrong with that? Don’t you think it helped the development of the vaccine?

^but being clever enables people to benefit more from their education.^
You can't be proud of being born clever. You can be proud of working hard with whatever brains you're born with.
I worked with young people who were so proud of achieving City and Guilds.

So true.

Iam64 Mon 21-Aug-23 18:48:08

Good point Dinahmo about Angela’s tough childhood and early adult life. I agree as well, I’d like to see her as a shadow minister
