Angela Rayner as Deputy Prime Minister God help us šŸ™

What do you think?

Posters are expressing support for vile language but disgust for education. I went through higher education as did my husband. Our three children all went to university, one of them to Oxford. I’m proud of their achievements and find the disgust expressed, especially re Oxford University to be inverted snobbery.
I’m an ex teacher. I believe in education for all whatever their background. However I am able to understand the difference between a degree and and a college education resulting in NVQs or their equivalent today.

Sorry Coffey

If we are judging by what politicians say, remember 'Let the bodies pile high'? And he wasn't kidding.

Who is the woman that gave the finger to the press?

Remind me who is uncooff and vulgaršŸ˜„šŸ˜„šŸ˜„

Wasn’t that Coffrey?
I think she’s unsuitable to be a cabinet minister too. Especially Health Minister, which she was for a short time.

GB News 17.08.23. Seems a pretty sensible approach to me!

Rayner said: "It's really important that, as part of the Gender Recognition Act, people that are transitioning are given support. And that's what we want to see.
ā€œWe want to see a more humane process, and I think that's where the public are, actually.""But we also want to see protections for women-only spaces, which is why the last Labour Government, in the Equalities Act, put provisions in there to make that happen."
"No woman should feel insecure or unsafe, whether it's a transgender woman or a biological woman.ā€
She said: ā€œEverybody should be able to feel safe and comfortable in those spaces.
ā€œAnd we should be able to find a way forward on that. I think
we can."

I think she's uncouth and vulgar besides being uneducated that my opinion. Just a light hearted thread that's why I put it in Chat. Actually I think Starmer would like to get rid of her (she's the Unions patsy).

If you watch the way the 'educated' politicians behave in the House, and listen to what they say, and the terminology they use - you'll see that they can also be "uncouth" and "vulgar". There are times when those educated individuals sound more like a herd of braying donkeys.

Perhaps telling immigrants to "f*ck off" (etc) is more refined when it's said by someone who isn't a Labour politician?

Maremia Mon 21-Aug-23 09:04:19

Was Raynor the one who threatened to nail journalists testicles to the floor using her own front teeth, or am I confusing with 'Never in Parliament' Dorries?

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:03:50

She’s not a hypocrite, she stands by what she says….

She does, and for that reason, given what she said, I find her to be unsuitable for the role of deputy prime minister.

Anniebach Mon 21-Aug-23 09:03:32

All conservative MP’s are Etonian ?

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 09:01:16

Snobbery is pretty vile.

Yes it is. We judge others by what they do and say.

Oreo Mon 21-Aug-23 08:58:48

I didn’t know that she sided with the trans lobby, if that’s true then a worry to have Raynor in an important political position.😲

foxie48 Mon 21-Aug-23 08:58:37

We cannot get any worse than a bunch of scum, homophobic, racist, misogynistic, absolute vile … banana republic, vile, nasty, Etonian … piece of scum,ā€ she said at the event, before adding that she had ā€œheld back a littleā€

She's not a hypocrite, she stood by her comments and there's lots who would agree with her sentiments. I wish she'd not said "scum" as she'd already made her point. She's on the left of the LP and that's where she still sits and she supported Tarry during his deselection . Nothing hypocritical about that. Why you are comparing her with Hancock completely escapes me, perhaps you can explain???

maddyone Mon 21-Aug-23 08:55:42

Class isn’t definable by how much you have or how you speak, it’s who you are and how you treat others.

Yes indeed.
Remind me, what did Rayner say in Parliament?

Maremia Mon 21-Aug-23 08:55:35

Are we still damning her for her lack of university education? Which do we prefer, someone with practical training in useful skills, e.g. Social Work, or Oxbridge Alumni with double firsts in 'Greed and Entitlement'?

The level of snobbery and hypocrisy here made me laugh. The tories promoted the awful Lee Anderson because he’s working class and ā€˜tells it like it is’. That’s their view, certainly not mine, he’s an ignorant bigot.
I wasn’t impressed when Corbyn put Angela in education but I was being judgemental about her lack of formal education. I’ve grown to like and admire her. She had a very difficult , deprived childhood. She benefitted from surestart then education through her union and union roles. Her intelligence, determination and commitment led her to being an MP and deputy leader of the LP. Unlike Johnson and co, the over privileged Bullingdon boys who have no idea what tough lives many live.

If I could select, it would be Yvette Cooper or Jess Phillips but if it’s Angela- fine by me

She's a hypocrite. Sam Tarry springs to mind. She sides with the cultist trans lobby. She calls me scum. Sorry but certainly no fitter than Hancock , if that's her stance.

What do you think?

I'm sincerely hoping God does help all those who share such a bigoted, intolerant and narrow-minded attitude.

There will be many areas where I would disagree politically with Ms Rayner, but I can only admire her as a person. Presented with a life containing very few advantages except those that came from within her, she has done brilliantly.

The OP reads like the Nasty Party in full flood, with it's supporters recognising they have nothing but bile to offer.

I do wonder how those who criticise her compare in their achievements in life.

Snobbery is pretty vile. No-one has control over the world they are born into, we're just lucky or not. When you are born into disadvanataged circumstances, you get given the worst of everything but if you manage to pull yourself up by the bootstraps, which in my view takes grit, the middle classes still judge you harshly. Whereas born with every advantage the middle classes still look up to you and forgive your bad behaviour and think you worthy of high office. Double standards indeed. Bullingdon club or Toffs behaving very badly!

Grantanow Mon 21-Aug-23 08:15:25

There is no legal requirement on Starmer to appoint a Deputy PM.

Attlee Sun 20-Aug-23 23:30:04

Angela had a terrible start in life, worked hard and is now Deputy Leader of the Labour Party, she is aspirational for our girls
Dear me, there are some terribly snobbish comments on here.
Class isn't definable by how much you have or how you speak,it's who you are and how you treat others.
That's real class.

You cannot be serious!

Yes I am, I feel he was treated abysmally!

Maybe he couldn't decide because he knew it would be a failure but knew that the 'majority' of the people wanted to do all the stuff BoJo promised ....? Don't know, but do think he was trustworthy, not in it for what he could fleece from the general public, which most seem to think is their right nowadays ....

MayBee70 Sun 20-Aug-23 21:26:53

Not a good look for a previous health secretary is it shock.

Casdon Sun 20-Aug-23 21:24:03

Here you are Maybee. Sky News. Oh dear, I hadn’t seen this before, she does seem to have a talent for looking a sight.

foxie48 Sun 20-Aug-23 20:59:09

But she is not deputy PM so I think you are answering a completely different scenario. Ask me how I feel about Lee Anderson being deputy Chair of the Conservative party and I can give you an answer, because he does hold that position. Actually I think he's pretty uncouth and uneducated and I don't hold that against him, what I dislike is his complete lack of empathy and willingness to change his politics to suit his purpose, which I believe is self-aggrandisement.

CoolCoco Sun 20-Aug-23 20:57:30

I think Dorries, Truss, Shapps, Rees Mogg, Fabricant, Hunt, Barclay, Anderson et al are all good reasons for not voting Tory.,
