Return for lunch and a easy day at home.

Good morning from Shropshire where the sun is shining.

We walked into town for the balloon festival yesterday.A strong breeze meant a disappointing day for the balloons but the festival atmosphere and entertainment was good.

A quiet day today🤞🏻The children have all been away so no childcare so garden and housework are all up to date.

DD1 and family start their return journey today. They will stay in Belgium tonight.DGD (8) has been emailing me signing off your loving granddaughter!

We have booked a short break away in September to Dumfries. Will we need our big coats?🤔

I hope your ECG results reassure you grandMattie.

Safe travels Llfl.

Take it easy Mary.Hope you are feeling better.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning to you all. It is overcast here in N. Bucks but is there should be some sunshine later.
We have decided to have a trip out to Sulgrave Manor, about an hour away. Hopefully my hip will not be too bad.
I will take my walking stick which helps
a bit.
Wishing you all a good day and thoughts with those with illnesses and problems to deal with.

Good morning everyone from a bright, sunny East Yorkshire. I have a gorgeous view overlooking a small pond and there is a large party of ducks sitting beside it.

We had a very pleasant day yesterday. After tidying round we went for coffee and then a walk around another pond area where we spotted a duck family and about 5 ducklings. I took a video and sent it it to Ds to show the gc who love all the wildlife here. In the afternoon our friends visited and were able to see the park at its best. Usually when we have people over it’s been dull and grey which is a shame. After they’d left I cooked a quick easy meal. Food tastes better here too out in the fresh air!

Unsure of plans today even if we are going home or to leave it till tomorrow morning. Family are away so no childminding and can please ourselves this week. We will make the most of a nice day and have a run out at some point today.

Will catch up with threads now.

Another lovely bright & breezy start to the day here in Sefton.
Singing group this morning. We now have a full group of 40 people which is the maximum we're allowed in the room. Finding a bigger venue is difficult.
A quick lunch then off to "child mind" GDG2 for the afternoon. A busy day.
Take care.

Good morning Mick and all. A day of cloud and sunshine forecast for the Angus coast, with sunshine predominating in the afternoon. Yesterday was glorious and I enjoyed a 'garden appreciation day' just sitting by the pond. The bench is under a rather large buddleia so I was able to have close-up encounters with the many butterflies. The attached photo is of a little corner of the garden where the last of the crocosmia is in beautiful colour contrast with the echinops.
Grandmattie like you just now I went through a couple of years of hell when in my 50s and was discovered then to have high BP. I've taken the medication ever since and am as fit as a fiddle (🤞) in my 80s. Doctors seem to love our blood pressure - it gives them a chance to be proactive for a change! So please try not to worry too much. And remember, you do tai chi which has been proven to be great for keeping blood pressure in check.
What a glorious pic of little Dolly, Marydoll. Hope you're feeling a little better today.
That's an early start Grandmabatty! Have fun with dgs2 - one at a time is always easier.
Karma I loved the story of your tall, straight oak tree yesterday. How lovely to be able to sit under it and just think.
Your days sound very much back to normal now Mick - congratulations for coming so far.
Safe travels home across the world Llfl tomorrow and happy landings.
I'm off shortly for a tai chi committee meeting - I'm not really a committee sort of person but it's the price I have to pay for the joy I get from being an instructor. As Bruce Forsyth used to say - "You get nothing for nothing - not in this game!" 😂
Have a good day everyone x

In answer to your question Susan, I think a light raincoat with room for a thick sweater beneath! But September is usually a lovely month in Scotland 🤞

harrigran Mon 21-Aug-23 08:46:17

Good morning from a sunny Yorkshire.
After lunch yesterday we had a walk and treated ourselves to some Ripley ice cream, I had a look in a boutique and bought a jumper also looked in an art shop but did not buy a painting.
Today we are going to Betty's for afternoon tea and a browse round the shops in Harrogate.
Have a good day.

Susan56 Mon 21-Aug-23 09:00:37

Thank you Taichinan😊

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle where it's threatening to be showery.

I had a broken nights's sleep and some odd dreams when I did sleep so not feeling so sharp this morning. Nevertheless, I shall start the usual Monday round of housework and laundry. I like to get it out of the way early in the week.
I continued with the book clearing yesterday, I aim to have an empty bookcase by the end of the week. That's not as good as it sounds, it's only a small bookcase.

I approve that Star Wars vest Marydoll! She'll be playing football next...Girls have moved on I'm glad to see.
I was my mother's first and I expect she was looking forward to doing the pretty dresses thing. I must have been a sad disappointment there as I'd be out getting mucky at the earliest opportunity being of the tomboy tendency.

You're in lovely Lewis brook....I remember it well as DH and I celebrated our 40th wedding anniversary by cycling up the islands from Castlebay to Stornaway. Well, almost to Stornaway because on the previous night's stop we were told it was a long steep hill to climb to get there, so we loaded our bikes into the bus luggage compartment and cheated! Were we glad when we passed other cyclists struggling up.

Have a good day everyone and wishing us all a bit of sun.

More washing in the machine (it looks like a good drying day) and am awaiting the arrival of the chiropodist whose attentions are not enjoyable but ever more necessary. No other plans but should get into the garden to tidy up and deadhead the new roses which are doing well, and if warm enough will take my book outside for a bit. Hope today is good enough for us all.

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. A much needed visit from the cleaner this morning and I must sit and work out how to get spare parts for my hearing aid from the NHS, should be a fun morning. DD2 and family are now away for a week but we shall be seeing a bit of DGD1 whilst her mum has her operation. I am not looking forward to Thursday when the GCSE results are out. Two GD's involved this year. So another different week to get on with.
gM I had my blood pressure taken for the first time in six years at the GPs and yes it was up, the GP had to pop out the room and told me to relax and then press the button again, I took some deep breaths and had another go, it had gone up!! isn't that white coat syndrome or something. Please don't worry, glad the GP is on the ball.
Lovely picture Marydoll
Safe travels Lltf
Best wishes to all

Good morning from S Lanarkshire, it’s been wet but sun is appearing. Book Club this morning which I think I am leading again. I am going to propose we should go back to individuals taking turns to choose books because we have some intransigent members who don’t seem to get the idea of reading books from a genre they don’t really like and I sense a rebellion brewing!

Back to my Monday post school childminding and overnight stay, I’m looking forward to it. Like you Grandmabatty I used to do the whole thing for several days a week but am well past that now, you do very well.

What a lovely baby Marydoll and a very happy looking grampa!

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Good morning from a sunny Oxfordshire, I did the housework yesterday so I could have a restful birthday day.
MissOops coming over later loaded with nibbles and a cake.
Have a good day everyone. I’ll go back and read your posts after coffee as I’m a bit behind even though I have nothing to do!

Rosesandlilac look at Mary Berry marinated mango pork medallions. Really easy and scrummy.

Going to my first U3a meeting today.

Morning all. Made it to Orkney after a calm crossing over the Pentland Firth. Looks like a nice day so must get moving so many places I love to visit difficult to know where first. Weather for the rest of the week doesn’t seem so good but it won’t keep us in. Hopefully photos of the Old Man of Hoy and approaching Stromness attach!

Blossoming Mon 21-Aug-23 10:30:29

Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire.

Yesterday MrB and I went for a drive up to Fleetwood to get some fresh air and look at the sea. Today I need to get some laundry done and hopefully a walk.

I do indeed monitor my BP daily Marydoll and log it weekly on the MyGP app. Fortunately it has remained stable for quite some time. I hope yours is nothing sinister Grandmattie, as you say being anxious doesn’t help.

What a lovely pic of Babydoll and MrMDoll ❤️

Beautiful plants Taichinan.

As always thinking of Baggs, Kalu and Urms and all dealing with troubles.

Have a good day all whatever you’re doihg🌻

Good morning to all. I’m having my mid morning coffe break.

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
After the football yesterday, I went into the dunes at the bottom of the road for a good walk. As the sea is retreating so much, the dunes are now more like gardens. Carpets of harebells, Michaelmas, daisies, rose hips and lots of plants I frustratingly don't know the names of (original city girl), really beautiful.
Tonight I sing in a concert in memory of the founder of the music club who died not long ago but requested no funeral, so will have a warm up warble as usual and dress up.

Hope your bp stabilises gm, thoughts to all with worries and will read through properly later.🌹

Good morning from sunny Foxyland. It was cooler when the Foxyhound and I were out earlier but it’s sunny again now.
I have my first shockwave therapy session today (I hope)
I am looking forward to seeing a light at the end of the tunnel, my RF was particularly bad this weekend.
Other than that, my new John Rebus book is calling to me. I just wonder how much longer Ian Rankin can keep him going defying his unhealthy lifestyle/ weight/heart/Bp not to mention all the enemies he has made around Edinburgh!
Kind thought to all with their own mountains to climb and a pleasant day to you all. 😎
