Good Morning Everyone,
Its just starting to become twilight but its dry as well this morning in brackley .
Today , my usual bus journey to Bicester , I used to like it when you had a half hourly service from Buckingham to Bicester as well .
Yesterday , posted on Facebook was an announcement of the death of a local Rock legend Bernie Marsden of Whitesnake fame, a guitarist who started in local bands in the 60`s.
Take Care,
Mick

Morning from my bit of S Lanarkshire. I don’t think your balloons would be up here today either baubles, it’s very much ‘season of mists and mellow fruitfulness’.
Have a lovely holiday, the rain will be warm and I’m sure it won’t last!

Another great photograph Sago, I’m enjoying your travelogue.

Morning to you too Urms, good to see you.

Glad to see you’re taking your doctor’s advice to rest Gammaretto😂!

Didn’t get a chance to post yesterday so could I send congratulations to all the DGC who did so well and to Gingsters DD on her degree.

A visit today to my sister in law, into M&S en route to get the bread she likes and the cakes we both enjoy.

Oh sun has just broken through, balloon day will be lovely and best wishes to everyone for a pleasant day. Remembering everyone for whom it will continue to be hard.

Zut, alors! My carefully crafted post has disappeared into thin air , here is the action replay
Weather - dull and cooler. Autumnal?
Sympathy - to all with outdoor plans for this weekend
No builders - deafening silence!
Happy Birthday Beechnut 💐
Happy Holibobs and safe travels - Sago, Baubles and Ashcombe
Me? I heard yesterday that my BIL has been cremated already- only died on Monday, I suppose they do things differently in Canada?
Best wishes to Kittylester ‘s brother for his op today, hope it all goes smoothly.
Big shout out to Urms - nice to see you, to see you, nice!
Finally- kind wishes to all with pain, worries or family problems and a pleasant day to all.

Yes heard that news on Facebook last night mick. Quiet day but going to do something nice maybe a ride out to Hexham and lunch. Both been working hard and need a treat. Will be seeing grandson tomorrow after his lovely welcome gcse results. Oh I don’t envy the young ones and the pressure they have. I’ll stick to looking after preschool that’s stressful enough! Have a good day all.

Grandmachrisy47 Sat 26-Aug-23 08:14:56

Happy Birthday, Beechnut. Lovely to see you Urmstongran.
Some lovely holiday news here today. Ginny, we spent the second night of our honeymoon in Ross on Wye many moons ago. Safe travels to those on the move.

God morning from a cloudy Glasgow, its only 7°C.

Happy birthday Beechunt, I hope you have a great day.

Safe travels Baubles, a bit of warm rain won't do you any harm, just wear your new swimsuit!

I have no plans for today. I seem to be slipping again healthwise, the fatigue is overwhelming. After a very bad night, I woke up believing I had Covid! 😱 It seemed so real.
Yesterday, I overdid it, by going to Silverburn. In my heart I knew it was foolish, but I refuse to wallow at home. Every minute counts!
It didn't help that I brought back 4x 25l of fence paint, which had been drastically reduced. I cannot resist a bargain and DH was glad to avoid a visit to B&Q. I got to my car and realised I had no energy left to lift the tubs out of the trolley.
An elderly gentleman in the next bay, spotted me struggling and came to my aid. What a gentleman!
On a lighter note, I picked up two final reduction dresses in M&S. Now here is the strange thing. I am a 16, one was size 14 and one was size 20. I tried them on and they both fitted.

When I was in M&S food Hall, a lady started talking to me, telling me she was arranging a birthday tea for her very ungrateful MIL. I couldn't get away, she started walking with me!
Sadly, she told me about her husband, who was one of the police officers attending immediately the Lockerbie bombing.
She told me that he had suffered from post traumatic stress for most of his life. 😢 Her husband couldnt cope with his DM, so she did all the visiting.
I felt I couldn't walk away, as she obviously wanted to talk.

My only task today is to upload the parish bulletin to the website and email copies to all who have requested one.
The website is really flaky and I dread doing it. I am not the administrator, (who went AWOL during the pandemic) only having editorial rights, so can't interfere with the gubbins.

DD is visiting Babydoll today and is popping in later with SIL. It will be good to hear all their news.

Have a great day, you busy people. Candles will be lit at Mass tonight for all, who need them.
Urms, 👋

A tired good morning from me here in Sefton having been kept awake by a thunderstorm & rain of biblical proportions. It is still raining but more of a drizzle now.No plans for today so a gentle day I think with possibly a snooze this afternoon. Take care all.

Good morning everyone from a dull Northampton, with showers forecast.
I cannot bear the thought of three days in a row on my own, so I am going to get on two buses today and go to a retail park in East Northants. Not got anything in mind that I want to buy, but will have at least a mooch around and have lunch out. Just remembered that I have M&S vouchers to spend......

Met a friend for coffee yesterday morning, and now have her plumber's phone number; I will ring him on Monday, and see if he will come and sort my shower out, and also fix a wobbly loo. Friend and I also made arrangements to go to a concert at the end of next month; I volunteered to book the tickets as I am a member of the theatre and can get discounted tickets. It's the Liverpool Philharmonic and the Dvorak cello concerto. Anyway, went on line when I got home and booked two good seats at a very reasonable price.

Must get going and get ready for my day out.
Hello Urmston, lovely to see you.
Happy birthday Beechnut.

GrannySomerset Sat 26-Aug-23 08:02:15

A blank canvas of a day but I have books to finish and minor domestic tasks to attend to; like Karmalady I like to feel I have done something with each day but often don’t manage to as I am not as creative and well organised as she is.

Have much enjoyed Sago’s wonderful pictures and Brook’s island adventure and hope this last bank holiday weekend holds some joy for everyone.

Liberty Sat 26-Aug-23 08:01:37

Good morning all from a sunny Suffolk. Lovely to see you posting dear*Urms*.

We had an almost normal stroll last evening with our little dog which was good to see. She seems to be taking ages to get back to her usual lively friendly self and DH thinks she is fed up having to wear the plastic collar. Hope it can come off in a few days now.

A day of pottering and tidying up in the garden I think. We tend to stay at home on bank holiday weekends as everywhere around here heaving with visitors. Hope all find something to give them pleasure today.

brook2704 Sat 26-Aug-23 07:52:27

Good morning everyone from Stornoway where it’s cloudy and dry
Happy Birthday Beechnut enjoy your special day! 🎉🎂💐
Good to see you posting Urms
DH had his favourite treat of fish and chips by the harbour last night, it was nice watching the little boats come and go. It’s our last morning here as we’re getting the ferry to Ullapool later. Think we’ll just have a little wander this morning and a look around the town.
Another great picture Sago
Enjoy your lovely cottage in the countryside ginny and hope you too have a lovely holiday Baubles
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

kittylester Sat 26-Aug-23 07:47:50

Good morning all from a fresher North Leicestershire where we had rain overnight.

Morning Urms. Happy birthday beechnut.

We are shopping for kitchen lights today after DH gets home from the gym.

My brother is having his surgery today - so an anxious wait till that is over.

GrannyGravy13 Sat 26-Aug-23 07:47:20

Morning all

Happy Birthday Beechnut 🎂🥂
Morning Urmstongran 😘👋

No plans for today other than a much needed afternoon nap. The police helicopter was circling overhead for over an hour from 3.30am 😡😡

Enjoy your holidays

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

karmalady Sat 26-Aug-23 07:46:49

Good morning from a cooler s somerset, some rain, some sun and some cloud

I finished another autumn/winter dress yesterday. Slowly tranforming my wardrobe. To match I have ordered warm winter tights in lovely colours. Also another small plot in the garden is cleared and now sown with green manure, The first one is chopped and now covered for the worms to finish off

It is easier to say what I did the day before, I often have no idea how a day will evolve and same for today. Its a nice state to be in with always fallbacks of pottering via cleaning/tidying, cooking, garden etc. I always try to end the day saying I have done some positive things to add to my life

Off on a car ride soon, I want some nice fruits for the weekend

Have a good day

luluaugust Sat 26-Aug-23 07:46:46

Good morning from a bright W Kent.
Happy birthday Beechnut and happy holidays to those away at present. Nice to see you Urms
Busy day yesterday as the Dr decided to put me on statins, that’ll teach me to volunteer for a blood test. Then I had to go and collect hearing aid batteries, one of the two volunteers giving them out turned out to be 87 I think the other gentleman must be a similar age, these sessions are always very jolly as they are a good double act.
We then went along to visit DDIL and had a chat and cup of tea, she was tired but looked well, just needs a bit more sleep.
Today should be much quieter just a local shop
All the best

Gwenisgreat Sat 26-Aug-23 07:42:21

Happy birthday Beechnut 🎂💐

Have a good holiday Baubles
We are over to Redditch and our friends later but for now it's the usual Saturday full English calling so will catch up with everybody's happenings later.
Enjoy your day and safe travels those on the move may you all find some ☀️.

Gingster Sat 26-Aug-23 07:41:37

Good morning all from sunny Essex.
Journey home yesterday was quite busy along the dreaded A12. The road surface is so bad that we shuddered and shook all the way home. They are re doing parts of it but it’s taking a long time.

Today I’m meeting my ‘besties’ at Stratford Olympic Park. It’s a convenient meet up point and not too far for any of us. I’ll hop on the train (strikes not affecting our line) and be there in half an hour. Lots going on in all of our lives , so a catch-up is needed. We’ve known each other since starting school , almost 70 years, so we know each other inside out. Bridesmaids and Godparents to each other/children. ❤️. Very special.

Happy birthday beechnut. Have a fun-packed day, whatever your plans. 🎂🎉.

That jam looks delish multi. I want to make bramble jelly (so many blackberries this year) but it’s such a faff! Any ideas for an easy recipe. ? Dh won’t eat blackberry jam /blackberry pie/crumble because of the pips.

Good morning Urms 👋.

Love and healing thoughts to poorlies

Sago Sat 26-Aug-23 07:40:04

I would like to say Happy Birthday to Beechnut and not in the loop re Urms but I love you for not being afraid to put your head above the parapet.

Happy weekend everyone, I hope I can bring some sunshine back with me!

Good morning all from Harrogate with a threat of sunny weather!
Glad you’ve found a home for your furniture GrandMattie you will be relived to see it go! When are you going to France Ashcombe sometime soon, obviously.
Good to see you posting Urms.
Yesterday was hectic. Had DGS from 9am the DH drove us to the church hall where is was helping to set up for our art exhibition today and tomorrow after church. There’s been such a lot of preparation, I’ve baked a load of biscuits to be served with refreshments, others have baked cakes.
Let’s hope we get loads of visitors with money to spend!
Have the best day possible

Mizuna Sat 26-Aug-23 07:32:14

Good morning from a damp Cornwall. Granddaughter coming for the day unexpectedly as she doesn't want to go fishing with her dad and brother. I had other plans but would much rather see her. Your photos are amazing Sago. I love windmills! grin

Good Morning all.
Another hot day in Spain forecast.
Today we are in Alcazar de San Juan, famous for wine, windmills and Don Quixote.
Our drive from Avila was beautiful, through mountains we climbed to 3800 feet then onto the central plain.
We had our best meal yet at a local restaurant last night, it’s no 1 on trip advisor and was outstanding.
3 courses for my husband, 2 for me wine, and a coffee was 43 euro!
It’s so reasonable here to eat out, we loved seeing so many families in the restaurant.
Today we are wine tasting and windmill visiting.
Here’s a picture from yesterday.
