Has been found not guilty of animal cruelty!
Just that really……

Yes. People will make their own minds up.
Going by this thread, most are not liking what they see.

A small number of those on a site for Grannies, are not necessarily right. No majority is necessarily right.

The jury saw all the evidence and judged her not guilty. This process of trying people based on short video clips is not legal or balanced.

Not quite. The jury came back and told the judge they couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. 11 jurors believed her to be guilty, 1 juror disagreed. The judge (unusually) insisted on an unanimous guilty verdict or a not guilty verdict! I guess he was into hunting and horses just being annoying tools for that 😡

Don’t make light of her actions Glorianny. They were disgraceful.

Surely you mean you believe them to be disgraceful.

Horse-racing jockeys are still legally permitted to use a whip on their mounts. It must be moderate and corrective, but I can imagine causes the same degree of pain/discomfort that the woman inflicted on her pony.

Two wrongs do not make a right.

Having owned horses for many years, including 2 ' babies' - 6 months old - I know if I had disciplined any of them as this woman did, I would lose all the trust I had built up. Rearing young/teaching animals is not really much difference from bringing up children! They need boundaries, consistency, kindness and lots of love, not being punched and kicked!! Definitely wouldn't want her anywhere near my animals!!

Fernhillnana Tue 29-Aug-23 12:32:59

I would have imprisoned her.

Yes the horse's acting was superb.

Quizzer Tue 29-Aug-23 12:26:55

How is this not cruelty? She says her life has been ruined….good!

Kate1949 Tue 29-Aug-23 12:25:31

I think the angry look on her face tells us that it was more than a glancing blow.

Oh I see. So the horse woman was acting! confused

... and didn't the pony play his role really well - he tossed and turned his head away as if he really had been hit!

I know the point Glorianny is trying to make - and it is a valid one - basically that what you witness on a video might have another dimension that you don't see.

However, in this particular incident we do know she hit the horse because she defended the action - and we can see her doing it. We don't know how hard she kicked and hit the creature, and he, after examination, had no physical evidence of injury.

If this is her chosen 'corrective measure' to teach the horse a lesson, I don't think it will. Animals cannot reason like humans. I'm sure there are better ways of training an animal but, as others have mentioned, she's part of the fox-hunting fraternity. When I lived in Lincolnshire, I rented a cottage from one of them and they lived among us. Animal welfare does not mean the same thing to them as it does to the majority posting on here. I shall say no more.

Goodness, not for the first time do I wish there was a 'like' button on here...

NannyMags Tue 29-Aug-23 12:20:19

This is animal cruelty and she should be prosecuted in my opinion.

Can't help it. Here's film of slaps, hits and kicks. They all look real, but no one was hurt. What you see on film isn't always the reality! www.google.com/search?sca_esv=560955759&cs=0&sxsrf=AB5stBi4HbwbiIrc695EirUicyrGrmpVvw:1693303152426&q=the+three+stooges+slapping&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwirjpPnzYGBAxUHXUEAHbJ6DCkQpboHKAZ6BAgBEAo&biw=1152&bih=562&dpr=1.25#fpstate=ive&vld=cid:b9d32874,

Well, not in films!
Actors learn how to make a slap or punch look convincing without actual contact!

However, are you saying that the video was doctored?

No I am saying that you cannot tell from any video the amount of force that was employed, or even (in the case of the kick) how much actual contact there was. What looks violent isn't necessarily. A light glancing blow (which actors and comics use) looks the same as a violent slap. You can't always believe your eyes.

So I'll ask yet again - do you think it is ever acceptable to slap and kick an animal, no matter how much force was used? If it was a child instead of a horse, would you find it acceptable?

I agree Callistemon, I wouldn’t want her teaching the kind of children I worked with who could try the patience of a saint (I’m not one)
I agree with gsm though. The NG finding is understandable much as we may dislike it

Callistemon21 Tue 29-Aug-23 11:30:11

The horse skittered away, someone grabbed the reins and stopped it so it was safe and then the video clearly shows Moulds losing her temper and kicking and slapping the horse.

It may not have caused an injury to the horse so she was not convicted. But it was a nasty display of ill temper and abuse.

I wouldn't want her teaching my grandchildren.

Kate1949 Tue 29-Aug-23 11:25:30

I don't think she lied. She admitted assaulting the horse to 'discipline' him.

Who says her children have received Death threats ?..Her ?... she's already a proven liar.. someone very capable of lying even when there's video proof of her wrongdoing, so I wouldn't believe a word she says. It's also very concerning that this liar, and animal abuser is a teacher, I wonder how many times she's lied to parents about their children.

Theexwife Tue 29-Aug-23 11:16:31

I still remember the woman who put a cat in a wheelie bin and that was over 10 years ago.

This woman will be known and judged by millions of people for years, that is more of a punishment than the fine she would have gotten if convicted.
