I don't think she lied. She admitted assaulting the horse to 'discipline' him.

The horse skittered away, someone grabbed the reins and stopped it so it was safe and then the video clearly shows Moulds losing her temper and kicking and slapping the horse.

It may not have caused an injury to the horse so she was not convicted. But it was a nasty display of ill temper and abuse.

I wouldn't want her teaching my grandchildren.

No I am saying that you cannot tell from any video the amount of force that was employed, or even (in the case of the kick) how much actual contact there was. What looks violent isn't necessarily. A light glancing blow (which actors and comics use) looks the same as a violent slap. You can't always believe your eyes.

So I'll ask yet again - do you think it is ever acceptable to slap and kick an animal, no matter how much force was used? If it was a child instead of a horse, would you find it acceptable?

This is animal cruelty and she should be prosecuted in my opinion.

I know the point Glorianny is trying to make - and it is a valid one - basically that what you witness on a video might have another dimension that you don't see.

However, in this particular incident we do know she hit the horse because she defended the action - and we can see her doing it. We don't know how hard she kicked and hit the creature, and he, after examination, had no physical evidence of injury.

If this is her chosen 'corrective measure' to teach the horse a lesson, I don't think it will. Animals cannot reason like humans. I'm sure there are better ways of training an animal but, as others have mentioned, she's part of the fox-hunting fraternity. When I lived in Lincolnshire, I rented a cottage from one of them and they lived among us. Animal welfare does not mean the same thing to them as it does to the majority posting on here. I shall say no more.

Having owned horses for many years, including 2 ' babies' - 6 months old - I know if I had disciplined any of them as this woman did, I would lose all the trust I had built up. Rearing young/teaching animals is not really much difference from bringing up children! They need boundaries, consistency, kindness and lots of love, not being punched and kicked!! Definitely wouldn't want her anywhere near my animals!!

The jury saw all the evidence and judged her not guilty.This process of trying people based on short video clips is not legal or balanced.

Not quite. The jury came back and told the judge they couldn’t reach a unanimous verdict. 11 jurors believed her to be guilty, 1 juror disagreed. The judge (unusually) insisted on an unanimous guilty verdict or a not guilty verdict! I guess he was into hunting and horses just being annoying tools for that 😡

Children as far as I know are not large animals with power and strength, capable of causing injury to people in close proximity. Would you have found it acceptable if the horse had kicked or trampled a child?
I'd rather a horse was slapped than a child trampled

I’d willingly flog her myself as I would with anyone being cruel to animals.
