Good morning from a cloudy Suffolk. There is definitely an autumn chill in the air.

I’m meeting a friend this afternoon for a catch up. We normally meet for coffee but she has to wait in for a visit from a plumber ‘if he can find the part’ she needs. Doesn’t sound very encouraging! I imagine the cafe where we meet will be very busy with visitors to the area but,hopefully,we can find a quiet spot so we can hear each other. As I get older,I like noisy places less and less.

Hope today is a positive one for all,especially those with worries.

We had unexpected childcare on Thursday as DD2 had a crisis. In the space of 3 days she had lost 3 Airbnb bookings. The first was a call to say the apartment she had booked in London for somewhere to stay in order to attend a 30th birthday party had been completely trashed and the police were investigating. The second one was cancelled as someone put the plug into a basin and turned the tap on (deliberately) and flooded the property before leaving. The third was allegedly double booked. In the end they stayed in a travel lodge which had been heavily discounted with just one day to go. She is seriously out of pocket because Airbnb said the usual “ it takes 5-7 days to issue a refund” ….. THREE times. They enjoyed the party but then had to go to A&E at 3am as she could not remove her contact lens which was done there and she was given antibiotics as she had an infection. Other GP’s had DGD3 and DGS2 overnight.

DGD3 was 5 yesterday and enjoyed a big extended family party. Luckily it was a reasonably warm and sunny afternoon. So lovely to see my other children and their families and also my sister whom I don’t see often as she lives 4 hours drive away. We had dinner with them at their hotel in the evening.

Unusually I had a bad night. I couldn’t get off to sleep as my knee hurt. I made some warm milk, got out of bed again to rub something on knee, then finally gave up and took some paracetamol and was able to sleep for a few hours.

I got my jobs done yesterday and found some tiny bronze fennel plants so I’ll pot them up today. I’ll probably do some more weeding and cutting back.

Good morning all and it’s grey here in Essex. It’s very still and dreary.

Yesterday was entertaining as our neighbour who backs on to us had a lively party. I think it was his 40th birthday. He’s a professional singer, so we were treated to an hour of his ‘Michael Bublee’ type songs. He’s very good..

Dh went to footie so I got my long neglected crochet out and started lining it for a blanket . Dgd1 might like it. 🤔.
Whilst sewing I watched a couple of episodes of ‘Painkiller’ on Netflix, recommended by a gran. A true story and very scary!

Today I have Bridge Club and I’m looking forward to seeing a couple who have been housebound for nearly 3 months. Husband had a fall and broke his hip and his wife hasn’t left his side. ❤️.

My friend and her daughter and granddaughter are travelling home from a Mediterranean cruise today from Palma. I hope they can get on a flight. 🙏.

Good morning everyone from a small village near Witney in Oxfordshire where we have been since Saturday. The journey on Saturday was horrendous; it took twice as long to get here due to traffic and torrential downpours. At one point the motorway was flooded and we were pleased to be in DH’s 4x4. As for the traffic; I think most of the country was on the move. Never again will we travel on a bank holiday weekend!

Our holiday cottage is very nice; well equipped and in a quiet spot. We have had a wander around the local town and visited a lovely garden and cafe. Today we are off to Oxford to visit the Ashmolean Museum and other sites, so I am looking forward to that. Still suffering from the aftermath of Covid, particularly feeling of fatigue so I need to have several recuperative visits to cafes for sustenance.

We spent yesterday around the villages and towns of Monmouthshire and in Breacon.
Today we will be visiting a NT property , Berrington Hall. Have booked an Indian restaurant for this evening. It was recommended by the hosts where we are staying.
Thoughts with all who are troubled or poorly. Wishing the best day possible for everyone.

Supermarket shop the highlight of today and must focus on Thursday’s book group book or I will have nothing to say - some might think that no bad thing!

Otherwise good wishes to all in holiday and hoping that travel is not as awful as it sounds.

Good morning Mick and everyone from a greyish Carlisle where showers threaten.

I ignored the Bank Holiday yesterday and got on with the usual chores. I did get out in the garden though where the amount of necessary deadheading and cutting back is steadily increasing. The amount of insect life in the garden looks very healthy, lots of bees and hoverflies plus spiders (not insects, I know) and now masses of ladybirds. I'm doing my bit to halt insect decline!
Today I shall be busy with more chores the worst of which will be chivvying various people over the phone. I loath having to chivvy.
So good luck with any chivvying you have to do grandMattie, there was me thinking you had that sorted. Awful management.

Good morning from a dull and cloudy Black Country. Didn't wake up until just after 8am!

Lovely family get together at Brothers house near Worcester yesterday, where they christened their new BBQ. Although it wasn't sunny, it was warm enough to sit out in the garden. He is 68 today, and apparently he is going on a Gin tasting session arranged by SIL Phot of us at the Seaside (probably Rhyl) as children.

No real plans today. MrJ is off on his group cycle ride as he is leading the ride today. I shall probably go to the gym later.

Another good night’s sleep, such a blessing. I feel better able to deal with other things when I’m not sleep deprived and in pain from the hiatus hernia. No real plans for today, we shall see what the day brings. MrB is at the dentist, hope he doesn’t need too much work done.

I think the beach trip will be cancelled (weather is still grey) in favour of Adventure Island, which although is only 20 mins away and I drive past it weekly I haven’t visited for nearly 15 years.

I guess I will be accompanying The Imp on any rides he is tall enough to go on and pacifying him when he cannot join his cousins on the bigger ones 🙀🙀🙀

Good morning all from dry (At the moment) Harrogate.
To try to improve my very poor 💤 sleeping pattern I have resorted to taking Boots allergy relief tablets (orange box) I take one between 6 & 6.30pm and next around 20.45pm. This week I intend to be brave and try without I’ve no pressure this week. I’m also trying not to have any refined sugar!! Very difficult but I have a facial skin problem, my face is very red and extremely itchy. Going into town this am to meet a friend then this pm I think is coming round to borrow my fridge and freezer!

Good morning all, another bright and sunny morning here. I haven’t caught up yet but noticed Oopsand Llfl had bad nights. Me too, I put it down to having had sedation with the diazepam late yesterday, but I also started worrying about DH.

The doctor when he gave me my results yesterday confirmed that I’m clear, thank God but that DH has a small tumour that will require further investigation. DH seemed remarkably calm last night (possibly still feeling the effects of the diazepam) but we’ve got to make an appointment with the GP which is maybe when we’ll find out more. I asked him what the Dr. said to him but he can’t remember. Thinking about it afterwards I was surprised he’d told me.

The whole clinic process was remarkably efficient, bit like an assembly line really right down to the tea and biscuits at the end.
Unfortunately we had to walk round to the station afterwards to find a taxi which started my damaged shins bleeding again and I’ve got to get going now to try and soak the dressings the clinic put on, off.

A late (no excuses, just feeling lazy) good morning from Northampton where it is overcast and grey. At least I have put the towels in the washing machine.

Will have a morning of gentle pottering, an early lunch and then out to our health walk. It is the pretty one today, along country footpaths and through the woods. Be nice to have company, and a coffee and chat afterwards.

Yesterday was spent doing not a lot except cut the back grass. It is gradually getting easier to do after its neglect when I was on my cruise.

Good morning Mick, Annie and all. It seems to be that a lot of GN's have disturbed nights. Up until very recently, I always slept well, but now I wake up most nights with pain in my knee. Today it is my shoulder. I know I should expect more pain, but can't get used to it. I will be alright when I get myself going.
Yesterday, I was going to maybe potter in the garden, but that didn't happen, and I ended up sorting out the car insurance and another couple besides. DH sorted the house insurance, so money was draining away like billy-oh. Ah well, it's all done for another year.
This afternoon I am due for a CT scan. Then early on the volunteer driver rang to say he had Covid. Luckily the Volunteer association rang to say that they had found me another driver. Phew, relief.
GrandMattie, I am so surprised that your management will not allow you to proceed with work. Especially as it sounds as though your bathroom floor could be dangerous. How on earth could they sell it to you in such a state? The management and residents meeting could be interesting.
Lovely photo again Sago. I do love pictures of doors, and have a couple of paintings with doors. You wonder what's going on behind them.
Such a lot to catch up on this morning, as I have skipped quickly through the posts. Will go back and read properly later.

Good morning Mick and all from a dull northwest coast.
Nice bus day trip yesterday and the traffic wasn’t too bad. Rode House was v interesting, a comfortable house rather than a stately pile, the family still living there and trippers allowed to sit on any seats or chairs they wished, a new experience for me.
A good guide too. I bought their own strawberry and gooseberry jam (that’s a new combination to me).

Then on to Trentham Gardens, the gardens are lovely, but the attached shopping village the usual thing, many sport type shops and shops full of things I don’t want.
Today I’m in charge on the desk at the music club and will sing, amongst others ‘So in Love’ a lovely Cole Porter song for the first time.
Onwards and upwards Mick and thoughts to all with troubles.

Morning everyone. Home safe after a lovely relaxing holiday in Orkney with it’s gentle way of life. So much there to explore. All our usual haunts have been visited and the car filled up with lots of Orkney produce. It was quite funny on Saturday as we struggled along the street in Kirkwall. my husband with two shopping bags full and me with one and we were stopped by a group doing a shop local survey. They asked tongue in cheek and with straight faces have you bought anything locally today🤣. I did explain it wasn’t all for us but for family at home too. I always do my bit for the Orkney economy and no I am not paid by the Orkney Tourist Board or Orkney council to promote Orkney!
