Tesco and B&M have a Halloween aisle and a Christmas aisle, it doesn’t really bother me and helps those who have to budget, I am sure it was earlier this year though.

Nothing yet! And won’t be buying any MPs anyway, I don’t like shop ones - too much thick pastry. Make my own, starting 1st December. Dh and I are a pair of 🐷🐷 for them anyway, so 1st Dec to Twelfth Night is more than enough MP piggery.

I have already eaten mince pies!

I went to The Range yesterday.
A lot of Christmas ornaments. I was amazed. Perhaps I shouldnt be.

Hithere Thu 31-Aug-23 13:19:57

Costco has two full rows of Xmas trees and decorations

Halloween items as of beginning-mid August

I find the 'Christmas is coming ' preparations in shops in August depressing. I don't think the idea behind it is to help people budget. I do think we are becoming more and more childlike. We can't wait.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 31-Aug-23 13:49:50

I purchased my first Christmas gift online and it arrived yesterday 🎄🤶

Lollin Thu 31-Aug-23 13:59:10

I have started to have difficulty finding my usual items again because the Christmas stock is starting to push things out. I had Difficulty getting down an aisle because of the tins of chocolates that were piled high on the floor, out from a shelf!

eddiecat78 Thu 31-Aug-23 15:52:42

It's ridiculous. We're expected to spend a third of the year preparing for one day.
Talk about wishing your life away!

MrsKen33 Thu 31-Aug-23 15:54:33

Did they ever go away?

Liz46 Thu 31-Aug-23 16:09:41

We went to our local for a meal the other day and they have started the Christmas decorations.

EkwaNimitee Thu 31-Aug-23 16:12:50

In town this morning I spotted a magazine whose front cover featured Christmas preparations. It’s still August!
If only I were dictator…my first act would be to ban all sales of C…….. items till November 1!

ginny Thu 31-Aug-23 16:32:59

Ridiculous!
I’m sure it’s nothing to do with helping people budget. More likely they hope people will buy early and use what they buy so they have to buy more.

Last weekend, in a card shop, I noticed a large section dedicated to C******s cards.

My Christmas is easy, everyone in my family likes gift vouchers or money.
My Son and Grandson get their football shirts in August to wear to matches all season, they love it, result.
I start Christmas in its season, other than the football shirts. I start to buy food beginning of December along with gift vouchers, money wallets, and my real tree.
I do not overspend. I buy the turkey instead of other meat and my partner a good carribean cook makes curries and other dishes, so no waste. My hairdresser buys us a lovely panettone, I buy a individual Xmas pudding, and we have a small Christmas cake. Boxing day we go to family and take something. I love this magical time of year but in its season.

GS3 went with Grandpa to Sainsbury's. He wondered why mince pies were on sale, but there were no Halloween products to be had.
He thought this was very wrong!

MrsKen33

Did they ever go away?

Yeah sadly 😂
I’d buy them all year round given the chance.

MrsKen33 Fri 01-Sept-23 06:00:25

I rather like Ecclefechan tarts, for a change

Ailidh Fri 01-Sept-23 06:11:23

Mince pies?! Someone told me they'd seen Cadbury's Cremem Eggs yesterday! 😳

eddiecat78 Fri 01-Sept-23 08:07:31

Our local Aldi had hot cross buns for months before and after Easter. Such a shame as it makes these seasonal products less special

ParlorGames Fri 01-Sept-23 08:09:16

I don't think Tesco ever stopped selling them, they seemed to be available all through spring and early summer.

JackyB Fri 01-Sept-23 08:55:06

I haven't been out yet today but remember from previous years that Advent calendars, Spekulatius, Lebkuchen and Schokonikoläuse always appear in the shops on 1 September. It's obviously strictly regulated here in Germany.
