Good Morning Everyone,
Its cloudy here in brackley at the moment still a bit twilight.
Today , plan wise go into Bicester ,return and do Fish & Chips in the air fryer prior to watching cycling on TV .
My condition after surgery seems to be improving each day .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from dull Harrogate
Glad you arrived safely Ashcombe.
Didn’t realise your fantastic trip in Spain was culminating in a wedding, and what a super venue Sago
Hope Mr C recovers from his dental trauma cornergran. Good to see both Kalu and Urms back for a chat yesterday. Have no idea what is happening today, the weather doesn’t look inviting to go out and about. Might try to repair the painting that got damaged at the exhibition last weekend.
Have the best day possible folks

Urmstongran Fri 01-Sept-23 07:54:44

And here’s Matt. Topical and amusing as ever!
I do love his cartoons - especially the way he draws faces.

Good morning from a damp Cornwall, where I'm in the bath. Won't terrify you with a photo. grin Have spent two quiet days at home, unusual for me. Today I'm meeting a friend for coffee down the road and then I'll venture to the allotment. Autumn very much with us, which delights me, always fills me full of energy. And we have peace here, oh such peace, now that the gulls have fledged and the downstairs shop renovation is done.

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey Carlisle.
I have been awake since 4.30am, feeling rough with some infection so it's not going to be one of my best days, I'm not naturally one of you early birds!
It will be gentle pottering at this and that today.
Yesterday I went into town on various errands. One was to collect the shortfall on a prescription. There's a manufacturing problem I was told as I was issued tablets instead of the usual capsules. Last week I was chasing around pharmacies trying to get my necessary eye drops. What is going on with medicine supplies at the moment?
I cruised back to the car via M&S, new autumn stock is coming in. I came out the other side with a new blouse but my conscience is clear, I had a gift token to spend. You won't miss me if you catch me wearing it, it is a vivid orange!

It all sounds absolutely wonderful Sago, what a lovely way to have a wedding.

I hope all is well, grandMattie....I don't usually get in before you.

Have the best possible day all of you.

Mizuna Fri 01-Sept-23 08:04:51

Meant to add this pic. I knitted it at a friend's request but found the eyelash yarn very hard on the hands, so I made all the components and passed it back to her to complete. She's done a lovely job of the face.

Good morning from a dreary looking Suffolk. I have a hopefully short Teams meeting soon and then we are off to pick up our 9 and 13 year old DGC for a few hours so their mum can get on with some work which she does mainly from home. 17 year old DGD is working all day at her job which has occupied much of her summer holiday but I think she is intending to cut her hours back considerably once school restarts next week to focus on her A level exams next year.

We’ll probably take the 2 of them to the park and museum in their town and then out for lunch. We had thought of a boat trip but it would have been complicated travel wise and,given the weather,am glad we didn’t book one.

Thinking of those with worries and ill health.

Good morning from yet another damp and grey Black Country.

1st September! It's the month I turn 70 shock . Have another 19 days to go where I can say I am in my 60's

Lovely walk yesterday with my group. Along the canal to Kinver, then cafe stop. We just missed the rain as it started as I arrived home.

No real plans today, probably pop over to Mums.

Sounds like a perfect ending to a perfect holiday Sago

Have the best day possible everyone.

Grandmabatty Fri 01-Sept-23 08:13:50

NannyJan September is my birthday month too! I'll be 65 later in the month.

Grammaretto Fri 01-Sept-23 08:16:09

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where it is Autumnal.

I missed that glorious moon and also that you were on your way to DD's wedding film set sago grin

Harrigran, I do feel your frustration!
Banks are almost impossible to deal with on line or on the phone. Can you possibly get to a branch?

Living with people who are deaf but who won't admit it or wear a hearing aid must be hard Marydoll
I have a friend like that but I don't live with her. 😕
Your pram story brought back memories.
We had taken the DGC on an outing and had to fold the buggy to fit it into our boot. We couldn't work it out at all.
A man crossed the carpark to offer assistance and after about half an hour we had gathered an audience it worked. He then admitted, to our great amusement, that he was an RAF engineer.

Work this a.m. in the store, haircut and then some urgent shopping.
Have a happy day if you can

Gala Fri 01-Sept-23 08:16:16

Good morning all. Dull, dismal & damp underfoot here in Sefton.
An eventually productive day yesterday. Managed to get a line of washing dry in between drizzly showers & cleaned out my large garden box which holds garden implements & various garden related bits & bobs. It also held a number of snails & a large amount of snail poo. How do they get in through the smallest cracks? I had great fun hosing it all out & getting rather wet in the process. I also managed to alter the sleeves on my sale bargain of a very long sleeved (ends of which were past my fingers!) tunic top.
Zoom dance exercise class closely followed by a stretch class this morning which I will enjoy. Oh what a difference an uninterrupted nights sleep makes. No other plans, I have a good book to finish (The Henna Artist by Alka Joshi).
((Hugs)) & 💐for those of you struggling with life.

Susan56 Fri 01-Sept-23 08:24:12

Good morning from Shropshire.A dry and sunny day forecast.

The grandchildren are coming for a sleepover today.We won’t be doing regular childcare as H will be in the nursery class at school from next week.DH said are you sure we aren’t doing childcare, there are a lot of dates filled in on the calendar!

Grandmabatty what a brilliant and interesting day you had yesterday.

I am another one with a husband who doesn’t have a hearing problem🙄

I am glad your new dentist was kind corner but sorry the crown couldn’t be saved.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

grandMattie Fri 01-Sept-23 08:26:12

White rabbits from a gloomy Bristol.
I’m SO late because I had a very bad night and then fell asleep again. Not read any posts yet…
The reason for my bad night is that at 1745 the warden rang me up to say that permission for my bathroom refit has been withheld UFN! I had been backwards and forwards between her and the plumber all day, hoping it would be granted.
Apparently, (at this very late hour), the surveyor said that there was asbestos in the floor, which needed to be removed first! Until this is done, mercifully at the management’s cost, I can’t proceed. The plumber is very annoyed, understandably, and won’t give me a date until all the work is done and a written permission produced. Fortunately, he has a client willing to take him on at this late stage - starting on Monday! The poor manager, who has been the messenger, is very upset for me and terribly apologetic. You can’t make it up.
So, today, clean slate, waiting for the management TBA to do the floor first. Christmas? I’m aiming for Easter now!
DD is picking me up for some shopping this morning, the DGDs are still with their other grandparents.
Nice to see you, Urms. 🫂
Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Urmstongran Fri 01-Sept-23 08:26:17

I just love this poem.

To Autumn
BY JOHN KEATS

Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness,
Close bosom-friend of the maturing sun;
Conspiring with him how to load and bless
With fruit the vines that round the thatch-eves run;
To bend with apples the moss'd cottage-trees,
And fill all fruit with ripeness to the core;
To swell the gourd, and plump the hazel shells
With a sweet kernel; to set budding more,
And still more, later flowers for the bees,
Until they think warm days will never cease,
For summer has o'er-brimm'd their clammy cells.

Who hath not seen thee oft amid thy store?
Sometimes whoever seeks abroad may find
Thee sitting careless on a granary floor,
Thy hair soft-lifted by the winnowing wind;
Or on a half-reap'd furrow sound asleep,
Drows'd with the fume of poppies, while thy hook
Spares the next swath and all its twined flowers:
And sometimes like a gleaner thou dost keep
Steady thy laden head across a brook;
Or by a cyder-press, with patient look,
Thou watchest the last oozings hours by hours.

Where are the songs of spring? Ay, Where are they?
Think not of them, thou hast thy music too,—
While barred clouds bloom the soft-dying day,
And touch the stubble-plains with rosy hue;
Then in a wailful choir the small gnats mourn
Among the river sallows, borne aloft
Or sinking as the light wind lives or dies;
And full-grown lambs loud bleat from hilly bourn;
Hedge-crickets sing; and now with treble soft
The red-breast whistles from a garden-croft;
And gathering swallows twitter in the skies.

Beautiful Urms, so moving. Lovely to see you back.

I'm beyond cross for you grandMattie and feel for you because, as you know, I've lived within a similar setting.

Grandmabatty Fri 01-Sept-23 08:32:21

Urms one of my favourite poems about my favourite season. Thank you for sharing. GrandMattie I'm angry on your behalf! That's ridiculous at this late stage.

monk08 Fri 01-Sept-23 08:42:00

NannyJan I've got a week left of my 60s shock

Oldbutstilluseful Fri 01-Sept-23 08:49:55

Thank you Urmanstongran for reminding me of this beautiful poem. You are a remarkable lady and much admired

Greyduster Fri 01-Sept-23 08:50:27

Good morning Michael and all GNs from a grey east coast to herald in September. I walked my legs off yesterday mostly uphill and while my new hip seems to like it, the rest of me doesn’t! I am wrecked this morning. I must change my default setting so that it doesn’t automatically say “yes” to everything!! GS and his mum are kayaking today. Might be a chance for me to beg a reprieve!
Wow, Sago! What a place! Best wishes for the wedding!
Have the best day you can folks!

hollysteers Fri 01-Sept-23 08:55:00

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Spent yesterday practising for upcoming concert interspersed with house tidying.
Today to optician, hairdresser for roots touch up (I’d do it myself but I have highlights which complicates it…)

Glad you are improving Mick, white rabbits and a lovely Keats poem Urms. I remember seeing the small room overlooking the Spanish Steps in Rome where he died so young and being moved to tears.🌹

BlueSapphire Fri 01-Sept-23 08:55:32

Good morning everyone, and Happy White Rabbits Day from a damp Northampton. Slept in this morning till nearly 8.30, so need to get my skates on, as I have a hair appointment at 10am.

Successfully fitted the new shower hose and handset yesterday; as informed by the plumber and man in the showroom, it was easy-peasy!
The fencing men turned up in time and am awaiting their quite which they will email to me over the weekend.
An early lunch yesterday and then out to dance classes, U were both full on, and so I was rather puffed afterwards!
Made a big chilli when I got back - three portions in the fridge waiting to go in the freezer.

Hope to get down to our little retail park after my hair appointment, and have a coffee and bite to eat, and top-up shop.
Chicken curry thawing out for dinner tonight.

Hope Friday is kind to all.

BlueSapphire Fri 01-Sept-23 08:56:35

Sorry for typos in the above, pressed post too soon!

Morning all from a grey West Oxfordshire. White rabbits etc. I’m a bit late checking in this morning. No excuse really. We are meeting old friends for lunch in a riverside pub. It is midway between North of Oxford, where they live, and us. My extremely unwell friend rang for a chat yesterday. She had just celebrated her 80th but couldn’t have visitors as her immune system is compromised. She will find out next week if the tumour pressing on her spine has shrunk. Her pain hasn’t gone away. I think I said before that I’ve known this lady for over 40 years.
Have a good day - lovely to see you Urms!

Foxygloves Fri 01-Sept-23 09:09:40

Good morning all from overcast and cool Foxyland - I swear the rain woke me up in the night.
It is however silent this morning - no sign of next doors builders. 🙏🙏🙏
My shockwave therapy yesterday morning seems to be helping my PF so fingers crossed. I have two more booked and much like everybody here, the thought of being able to go about my daily business without pain is a liberating thought.
September is very much a birthday month in the Foxy family -GD sneaking in early on 30 August, but then one sister in law on the 11th, the other on the 17th, DH was the 16th, my FIL the 25th and littlest fella who DH never even knew about, the 15th. Our first cub would have rounded it off on 6 October if he had lived but that’s another story, although two of my sons in law have their birthdays on 7 and 8 October.
( GD actually had a 31 hour birthday this year starting on their flight home from Langkawi and Singapore on Tuesday afternoon right up to midnight on Wednesday)
So advance birthday wishes to all who celebrate this month.
A quiet day today here before a busy weekend - Norfolk tomorrow, Proms on Sunday and the Harry Potter studios on Monday.
Wishing you all a safe and pleasant day.

Jaxjacky Fri 01-Sept-23 09:21:00

A late good morning from a damp S Hants, yesterday was wet, cold and miserable, we’re due some heat over the next week.
I don’t like those ferry ramps Ash after a dodgy handbrake incident and always asked to go on the lower deck with the trucks.
Glorious Sago, thank you for sharing, it’ll be memorable.
Morning Urms, a special reminder of autumn, it speaks so evocatively of the season.
Phone calls, son calling in and Tesco delivery today.
But most importantly Imogen is 16, she txt at 8 to thank us for her presents,. Grandchildren’s birthdays bring back so many memories.
