Morning from S Lanarkshire, sunny/cloudy, we’ll see. I hope I can wear a summer dress out to lunch with a friend today, I haven’t had much chance to do so this year, even short sleeved tops have been a struggle! A stroll to a marina in the sunshine sounds perfect baubles.

A visit from DGD2 yesterday before she heads off to Uni this morning. Naturally she is ‘nevacited’ as we say in our family.
Her sister doesn’t go back to her Uni for another two weeks but then DD1 and SIL will be on their own on the farm for the first time, it will be quite an adjustment I think.

A fabulous cake Grandmabatty, what a talent.

I hope you both feel a bit better today Corner, yesterday must have been a nightmare. Thank goodness for good neighbours and prompt medical attention, I hope today is much better.

Sounds like a nice day today BlueSapphire, enjoy.

Matt puts his finger on it as usual Urmstongram, good to see you.

Wishing everyone a good day.

Jaxjacky Sat 02-Sept-23 08:27:30

Morning from a brightening S Hants.
What a shock corner I hope today MrC improves.
I’d be cross too Sago not the best start to a day I’m sure will be magical.
Thanks for Matt Urms and Morning to you.
Newspaper soon, my football is team on the box early, later a walk.
Son and family are in Exmouth for the week, he’s chosen a good one.
With glorious weather forecast I’ve booked us dinner practically on the beach at a favourite local spot for Wednesday.
Enjoy all travels, holidays and family meet ups. 🦩🦩

Nannagarra Sat 02-Sept-23 08:20:16

How frightening for you both, cornergran. I hope Mr C feels better soon.

Gingster Sat 02-Sept-23 08:16:25

Good morning all and lovely to see Matt back Urms . Thanks for that! 😉. Always brings a smile. I loved reading the poem ‘Mists and mellow fruitfulness’ - such a beautiful line. 🍂.

Weather ok here and warm sun forecast for all next week.

DS1 came in for a chat last evening. DIL and girls had gone to watch Barbie. Nice to have him on his own and he stayed a while. He’s going to footie with his dad this afternoon so I’ll have a quiet time. Might watch a film.

Corner I hope your Dh gets sorted and is back on the road to recovery soon.🙏.
Grandmabatty that cake is fabulous. Clever Dd.👩‍🍳.

I too have ‘loaned’ my guitar to my dgd3. She can keep it as long as she likes. She’s teaching herself to play on you tube. We’ll see how she gets on and if she progresses, may get her own for Christmas, and have lessons.

Enjoy Saturday and take care.🌻

GrannySomerset Sat 02-Sept-23 08:08:36

Thank you for the smile, Urmston, lovely to have Matt back with us. Misty autumnal morning as I listen to the ever more depressing news underlining the fact that we are no longer a well run country. As if schools hadn’t suffered enough upheaval!

No plans at all for today but doubtless something will present itself as needing to be done. Sorry MrC has suffered a setback though impressed at the surgery’s response; love the HP cake, and hope all goes to plan for the travellers.

Marydoll Sat 02-Sept-23 08:04:09

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 10°C.

Corner, what a shock it must have been for you both. It's good your surgery are so supportive. I had similar episodes, prior to going into hospital earlier this year, it is indeed very frightening and unsettling. My best wishes to Mr C.

I agree with those who suggest lack of exercise and your heart issues, may be the cause of the swelling.
Medication and more exercise, helped to partly resolve this recently. My GP said the fact that I was trying to walk more and sit around less was the reason for the improvement. However, It is not always possible. You need to speak to your GP.

Karma, the fact that I can't bend down to close doors on our freezers, means I often have drips. It always sorts itself once the offending drawer is properly closed. #careless gran!

Today, Dollie is coming to stay overnight, I'm so looking forward to seeing her.
Yesterday was full on, but I've broken the back of most of the parish admin and updated the website, there were so many permutations on the weekend Mass rotas (we have four), my brain couldn't cope!
Two parishioners, realising how much I had been doing, have kindly offered to support me.
A bit of finishing off to to today and the rest can be done next week. I'm beginning to feel unwell again, which unsettles me. As usual, I tried to cram too much into my week, carpe diem and all that.

For those on holiday enjoy, (*Baubles*, I hope DH feels better) Sago, I hope the wedding goes well and Kalu, so good to see you posting.

Have a good day folks.

ginny Sat 02-Sept-23 08:03:09

Good morning all.
Not much planned except a food shop and probably a coffee in the town.
All the families arrive home from various holiday destinations today so quite possible that some or all will turn up sometime over the weekend.
Hope to do some watercolour cards as examples for a project for Craft club.
A good day wished for all.

harrigran Sat 02-Sept-23 07:57:13

Good morning from a cloudy but dry NE.
Today is youngest GD's 14th birthday so we are going out for lunch before returning to mine for cake.
Eldest GD passed her theory test so no doubt she will be sitting her driving test soon.
Have a good weekend.

Sago Sat 02-Sept-23 07:55:29

Good morning all.
Sun coming up here in Spain.

Unfortunately I’m in a filthy mood😬on what should be a perfect day as I came down this morning to have to spend a long time sorting out flooded worktops and the debris of a party!
The staff that prepare breakfast will not quite rightly clear up.
We prepared dinner for 13 last night and cleared away.

I am now calming down with a cuppa.
Son no 3 will have a telling off!

Yesterday was a lovely day, everyone went off to the coast and we stayed with our daughter and grandchildren then set to shopping and preparing dinner.

Daughter still in bed which is good.

Sorry for the rant, have a happy Saturday everyone.

Pittcity Sat 02-Sept-23 07:52:29

Good morning from Colchester where it feels autumnal.
I am still in bed as we had a late night at a brilliant party. My son in laws best friend had organised a local butcher to run a barbecue, a fabulous band and a bouncy castle.
DH is on his way to France for a week of fishing.
Apart from laundry and feeding DS, I am undecided on what to do today. There are several events on in the City this weekend. I may just relax at home....
Love to all 🦩 x

Nannagarra Sat 02-Sept-23 07:52:08

Good one, Urmstongran. Nice to see you.
👋

Nannagarra Sat 02-Sept-23 07:50:58

Good morning from sunny Sefton.
Love the cake, Grandmabatty. Norfolk? How delightful, Foxygloves. Today we’re going on a canal walk with DS1, his other half and their water-loving golden retriever followed by lunch in a favourite pub.
My thoughts go to those for whom life atm is not so easy. Have the best day possible everyone.
🐶 🤦‍♀️ 🌻

Urmstongran Sat 02-Sept-23 07:46:00

Good morning everyone from a sunny south Manchester.
Here’s Matt.

Good morning everyone from a very grey Northampton, but it is supposed to brighten up this afternoon. Hopefully it will as today is the first home match of the rugby season. My.team shirts will have to come out of hibernation! We have a 'friendly' match to start with (but what match is ever friendly?). Really looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere today, which I'm sure will be great, there will be a really excited buzz in the air.
Shall meet DD and her husband there, and then after the match we are going to a Spanish tapas restaurant for dinner. I had just got tonight's dinner out of the freezer when DD texted me the plans, and quickly put it back in again.

A quiet morning of reading the papers, an early lunch then off on the bus to the ground. Mustn't forget my season ticket.

Hope Me Corner feels better soon.
Have a lovely weekend with your family, Foxy.

Come on you Saints!

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 02-Sept-23 07:37:12

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We had a lovely time yesterday meeting our old friends for lunch. Since the beginning of the pandemic the particular river side pub we went to has had its ups and downs. Fortunately it’s on an up at the moment and we had a delicious meal. OH is off to see his bees this morning while I organise things for elder son, his partner and my granddaughter coming to visit later on. Roast chicken and all the trimmings for dinner and raspberry and strawberry crumble for pudding. We only saw son and granddaughter last week when they picked me up from the airport. We haven’t seen partner for a month or so. It’s good they’re staying the night. Son often makes pancakes for breakfast.

Gosh, some of you have had difficult times recently! I hope these can be resolved and you all have a good day.

Jacs7 Sat 02-Sept-23 07:35:36

Good morning everyone from a hotel near Crewe in Cheshire on our way to a cottage in Abergele where we shall be for the rest of the week. We lived near here thirty years ago so it was interesting to see old haunts.

Visited Tewksbury yesterday on our way up from Oxford. Had a wander around the Abbey; beautiful stained glass windows.

A nice dinner last night, but the steak I had made its presence felt during the night and didn’t sleep very well. Will have to try and have a nap in the car, but am always reluctant to take my eyes of the road so that I can help DH out by pointing things out he might have missed: “mind that car/lorry/cyclist”. He’s always very appreciative 🤣🤣

Have a good day.

brook2704 Sat 02-Sept-23 07:34:35

Good morning everyone from a sunny and bright Inverness
Oh my goodness corner what a worry for you both. I hope it’s just a blip and Mr C is back on the road to recovery soon, take care
We’ve nothing much planned over the weekend, just catching up on household jobs, cleaning and gardening, I think we’ll start the annual shed and garage clear out whilst the weather is fine.
Hope your DGS enjoys his first swimming lesson grandmabatty. That cake is amazing, a very well done to your DD
Enjoy your restful holiday baubles, hope your DHs cough improves soon.
Safe travels to everyone out and about, hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Mizuna Sat 02-Sept-23 07:32:10

Good morning from Cornwall where it is no longer preyrk (I love the word Foxygloves, sounds Cornish), but sun is promised. So much going on for all of you already today! Me, I'm art-ing with my seven-year-old again all day and may introduce her to my sewing machine. A sign-off from my pharmacist yesterday because all my tests were A1, yippee. Hope things improve for all those in need.

kittylester Sat 02-Sept-23 07:28:00

Good morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.

We have a decorator coming at 9 to quote for decorating the kitchen. Our usual one has lost half his team so is unable to do the work till January.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Susan56 Sat 02-Sept-23 07:19:33

Safe travels to you and the hound foxy.

Grandmabatty I have just shown Harry Potter mad DGD the cake your DD has made and she was literally open mouthed. She said will you show mummy so she can make me that cake😳😂

Susan56 Sat 02-Sept-23 07:15:49

Good morning from Shropshire.

We had a lovely day with the grandchildren yesterday.DGD was very happy to be given my guitar and also a ukulele we had.She has learnt one chord on the guitar and two notes on the ukulele. This morning she has sewing club at the library and H is going to try Lego club.Afterwards a trip to The Works to spend pocket money. We will take them home late afternoon.

Oh my goodness corner, that must have been so frightening.I am glad the surgery were so supportive and that Mr C is feeling better.Thank goodness for lovely neighbours too.

I hope the freezer is now sorted karma.Safe travels.

A meander along the marina for coffee sounds perfect baubles.

I hope the covid two are soon recovered Kalu and that they aren’t suffering too badly with it.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

RosesandLilac Sat 02-Sept-23 07:12:47

Good morning from a dank, murky village in south Gloucestershire, it’s thick, drippy fog here.
Gosh cornergran, what a scare for you both, I hope MrC gets sorted quickly.
That’s a magnificent cake Grandmabatty!
Yesterday I pootled and pottered and apart from the dog walks and a grocery delivery nothing much happened!
Today more of the same; I have swatched my palettes for a en plein air painting break at the end of the month, and I will do some sketching later.
DGS7 and the family are back from a summer in Italy so he wants to tell me all about it this morning, bless him! I’m looking forward to seeing them all again.
Have a lovely weekend 🌹

Greyduster Sat 02-Sept-23 07:01:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cloudy Yorkshire coast but it promises to be a bright day. Keep an eye on those legs, Mick! Yesterday was wet, so, after walking along the beach into Filey in the morning for lunch, we went to the circus in the afternoon. There were some very entertaining acts and the “big finish” was truly spectacular. Today the menfolk are coasteering and DD and I are planning a walk along the coast path. I don’t know how far I’ll get - depends on the terrain, but hope to take some decent photos.
Corner that must have been truly scary! Hope you both have a better day today.
Have the best day you can, folks.

Grandmabatty Sat 02-Sept-23 06:58:07

Here's her cake. DD is very talented.

Grandmabatty Sat 02-Sept-23 06:57:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° with low cloud. Cornergran what a worry for both of you. As you say, a step back. Let's hope it's just a blip. Karma it's just as well you have good hearing. Enjoy your trip to Wales. Foxy enjoy your trip too. Ash it was fun. I have bought one of her paintings as an early birthday present for me after a pretty rotten year so far.
Yesterday was a lovely quiet day. Lots of pottering then a Tesco delivery. However I didn't manage to visit mum as I fell asleep!
Today I have dgs2 for an hour as dgs1 has his first swimming lesson. He's not confident in the water so it's better dgs2 isn't around to distract. DD made a wonderful Harry Potter themed birthday cake for her god daughter. I'll try and post it. Once dgs2 goes home, I'll get on with housework and washing sheets etc. Gammon steak for dinner, I think. Have a good day all.
