Good morning from Bristol. We are forecast a dry day.
I have recovered from the rage and despair at the (lengthy) postponement of my bathroom refit. Serves me right for thinking I was in charge of my life!
DD and I went to Ikea via Tesco, I bought some odds and ends at both. I couldn’t find any suitable net curtains. I’ll try to get to Dunelm, where I know I can get what I want.
Today, after the usual church coffee and chat, I’m off to Westbury-on-Trym to (wo)man the WI stall at some show or other.
I have been trying to make a rather complicated patchwork square and ditched the first effort. I have cut out my second try, and shall see this afternoon when I have time, if this second attempt was more successful.
Gentle thoughts to those in sorrow, trouble or sickness. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Good morning, will be sunny in s somerset

I am off to wales in 30 minutes, at sunrise. Woke up to my freezer alarm. Big panic as the freezer is very full and is a tall one. Everywhere on casing was hot so it has been running for hours, was ok at 9 last night

Methodical hat on, pulled the freezer away from wall, compressor was boiling hot. Unplugged from wall for a couple of minutes, replugged. Opened door to water drips. Swiched audible alarm off, no error codes. Slammed all drawers in again and slammed the door tight

It seems to me that the compressor temperature has normalised now. I also cleaned the grill at the back, was ok though. I am carrying on with trip to wales as it will stop me opening the door to check

Thank goodness for the alarm. My feeling is that the drips are from the front of drawers and that something was not closed properly. There is nothing I can do but wait and meantime I am leaving the freezer away from wall as it will cool a bit quicker. Also nice to have frozen food insurance included in saga

Have a good day

Good morning all from the Black country not sure what the weather is doing still dark.
No full English today far to early, DH has his inter club fishing contest something he organises but doesn't take part in this year there are 7 clubs.
Haven't decided my plans for the day yet may go and catch a few more Zzzz.
Friends from Redditch coming later and we shall meet other friends at the club.
Will come back later to read everyone's happenings enjoy your day whatever your plans and may you all find some ☀️.

Foxygloves Sat 02-Sept-23 06:26:57

Good morning Mick and all.it is still preyrk here but I believe a find is promised.
A “saga” indeed Karma ! How fortunate you heard the alarm on your freezer. As you said you were planning on working on it yesterday, I imagine the likelihood is that a drawer was not fully pushed in, so easy to do and hard to spot. Fingers crossed you don’t come home to a puddle on the floor though.
Have a fun day at the WI stall Grandmattie - DH’s aunt was a great supporter and used to supply her local WI stall with ends/offcuts of their Montgomery’s Cheddar.
Mick the swollen legs sound like fluid retention and may be related to your need for more exercise, or possibly heart. Do ask at the Dr, it may need compression (flight) socks and of course elevating your legs while watching tv.
Off to Norfolk to see D, SIL and GS today , hope the Foxyhound “enjoys” the journey, I’ve not taken her as far before!
With hopes that Saturday is kind to you all.

Ashcombe Sat 02-Sept-23 06:31:38

Good morning from a thundery Sarthe. Heavy rain and rumbling thunder have been around for a couple of hours.

I hope you can get advice from your team regarding the swelling, Mick, which sounds like fluid retention. Perhaps try putting your feet up whenever you’re sitting down.

Your bathroom saga is unbelievable, grandMattie! It must be very frustrating for you but I hope things will be sorted out without further delay.

I hope you can enjoy your trip to Wales, karmalady; having freezer insurance is reassuring. Safe travels!

Your experience at the Art Gallery sounded intriguing, Grandmabatty! Well done for stepping up to be interviewed.

It was warm enough to have lunch and dinner outside yesterday but difficult to judge what today will bring, weather wise.

It was good to see Urmstongran back with us yesterday. We’ve missed you and often thought of you. 💐

I hope the weekend brings happiness to everyone. As someone told me recently, “Life is not a rehearsal!” 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

Morning Mick, morning All. A clear start to our corner of Somerset

Yesterday was challenging. Mr C became very unwell while we were on a short walk, fortunately close to home, unable to breathe, vomiting and faint. Neighbours borrowed a wheelchair and he had a ride home where he soon felt better if very tired with a fast heart rate. Advice sought from our surgery and an emergency GP appointment. Looks like atrial fibrillation, heart rate very unstable. Meds tweaked, an ECG organised for today and a request on its way to cardiology to review. Mr C is fine now he has a tentative diagnosis, I’m still quite shaken thinking of the ‘what ifs’ if we’d been further away from home. It does feel one step forward and two back on this recovery journey. Can’t fault support from our surgery yesterday, we’re fortunate I think.

Oh heck karma, hope all will be well with your freezer. Safe trip to Wales, the M5 was incredibly busy in both directions all day yesterday Sensible to speak to your nursing team mick, I’m sure you’ll get sound advice. You sound better grandmattie, hope today is a smooth one for you.

Thinking of all with emotional or physical hills to climb. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Foxygloves Sat 02-Sept-23 06:43:11

Oops, oops thrice oops!
I don’t know what planet autocorrect is on but my first line should have read pretty dark here but I believe a fine day is promised
I thought I had checked too blushblushblush

Good morning from sunny Mallorca although we may have rain later.

What an interesting day you had yesterday Grandmabatty.

Good thing you heard the alarm Karmalady, insurance or not it would be upsetting to lose all that food.

We won’t do much today, DH’s cough is still troublesome although the linctus recommended by the pharmacy the other day is helping a little.

A meander along to the marina for coffee is all that’s on the agenda.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.

Kalu Sat 02-Sept-23 06:54:35

Good morning all from Glasgow where we have a heavy damp mist to start the day, not to be confused with a hazy morning with the promise of sunshine as it burns away.

Looking forward to an outing today catching up with my cousin for coffee and a blether. Later I plan to arrange some gold wooden letters into a quote of DD1’s which gives us a chuckle. Once framed, it’s a birthday present for her on Monday. I will drop her gifts off at her door as she and GD1 both have Covid. The first two in our family to catch it.

Have a pleasant Saturday all.

Grandmabatty Sat 02-Sept-23 06:57:20

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 8° with low cloud. Cornergran what a worry for both of you. As you say, a step back. Let's hope it's just a blip. Karma it's just as well you have good hearing. Enjoy your trip to Wales. Foxy enjoy your trip too. Ash it was fun. I have bought one of her paintings as an early birthday present for me after a pretty rotten year so far.
Yesterday was a lovely quiet day. Lots of pottering then a Tesco delivery. However I didn't manage to visit mum as I fell asleep!
Today I have dgs2 for an hour as dgs1 has his first swimming lesson. He's not confident in the water so it's better dgs2 isn't around to distract. DD made a wonderful Harry Potter themed birthday cake for her god daughter. I'll try and post it. Once dgs2 goes home, I'll get on with housework and washing sheets etc. Gammon steak for dinner, I think. Have a good day all.

Grandmabatty Sat 02-Sept-23 06:58:07

Here's her cake. DD is very talented.

Greyduster Sat 02-Sept-23 07:01:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a cloudy Yorkshire coast but it promises to be a bright day. Keep an eye on those legs, Mick! Yesterday was wet, so, after walking along the beach into Filey in the morning for lunch, we went to the circus in the afternoon. There were some very entertaining acts and the “big finish” was truly spectacular. Today the menfolk are coasteering and DD and I are planning a walk along the coast path. I don’t know how far I’ll get - depends on the terrain, but hope to take some decent photos.
Corner that must have been truly scary! Hope you both have a better day today.
Have the best day you can, folks.

RosesandLilac Sat 02-Sept-23 07:12:47

Good morning from a dank, murky village in south Gloucestershire, it’s thick, drippy fog here.
Gosh cornergran, what a scare for you both, I hope MrC gets sorted quickly.
That’s a magnificent cake Grandmabatty!
Yesterday I pootled and pottered and apart from the dog walks and a grocery delivery nothing much happened!
Today more of the same; I have swatched my palettes for a en plein air painting break at the end of the month, and I will do some sketching later.
DGS7 and the family are back from a summer in Italy so he wants to tell me all about it this morning, bless him! I’m looking forward to seeing them all again.
Have a lovely weekend 🌹

Susan56 Sat 02-Sept-23 07:15:49

Oh my goodness corner, that must have been so frightening.I am glad the surgery were so supportive and that Mr C is feeling better.Thank goodness for lovely neighbours too.

I hope the freezer is now sorted karma.Safe travels.

A meander along the marina for coffee sounds perfect baubles.

I hope the covid two are soon recovered Kalu and that they aren’t suffering too badly with it.

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.

We have a decorator coming at 9 to quote for decorating the kitchen. Our usual one has lost half his team so is unable to do the work till January.

Have the best day possible everyone.

Mizuna Sat 02-Sept-23 07:32:10

Good morning from Cornwall where it is no longer preyrk (I love the word Foxygloves, sounds Cornish), but sun is promised. So much going on for all of you already today! Me, I'm art-ing with my seven-year-old again all day and may introduce her to my sewing machine. A sign-off from my pharmacist yesterday because all my tests were A1, yippee. Hope things improve for all those in need.

brook2704 Sat 02-Sept-23 07:34:35

Good morning everyone from a sunny and bright Inverness
Oh my goodness corner what a worry for you both. I hope it’s just a blip and Mr C is back on the road to recovery soon, take care
We’ve nothing much planned over the weekend, just catching up on household jobs, cleaning and gardening, I think we’ll start the annual shed and garage clear out whilst the weather is fine.
Hope your DGS enjoys his first swimming lesson grandmabatty. That cake is amazing, a very well done to your DD
Enjoy your restful holiday baubles, hope your DHs cough improves soon.
Safe travels to everyone out and about, hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

Good morning everyone from a hotel near Crewe in Cheshire on our way to a cottage in Abergele where we shall be for the rest of the week. We lived near here thirty years ago so it was interesting to see old haunts.

Visited Tewksbury yesterday on our way up from Oxford. Had a wander around the Abbey; beautiful stained glass windows.

A nice dinner last night, but the steak I had made its presence felt during the night and didn’t sleep very well. Will have to try and have a nap in the car, but am always reluctant to take my eyes of the road so that I can help DH out by pointing things out he might have missed: “mind that car/lorry/cyclist”. He’s always very appreciative 🤣🤣

Have a good day.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sat 02-Sept-23 07:37:12

Morning all from West Oxfordshire. We had a lovely time yesterday meeting our old friends for lunch. Since the beginning of the pandemic the particular river side pub we went to has had its ups and downs. Fortunately it’s on an up at the moment and we had a delicious meal. OH is off to see his bees this morning while I organise things for elder son, his partner and my granddaughter coming to visit later on. Roast chicken and all the trimmings for dinner and raspberry and strawberry crumble for pudding. We only saw son and granddaughter last week when they picked me up from the airport. We haven’t seen partner for a month or so. It’s good they’re staying the night. Son often makes pancakes for breakfast.

Gosh, some of you have had difficult times recently! I hope these can be resolved and you all have a good day.

BlueSapphire Sat 02-Sept-23 07:42:01

Good morning everyone from a very grey Northampton, but it is supposed to brighten up this afternoon. Hopefully it will as today is the first home match of the rugby season. My.team shirts will have to come out of hibernation! We have a 'friendly' match to start with (but what match is ever friendly?). Really looking forward to enjoying the atmosphere today, which I'm sure will be great, there will be a really excited buzz in the air.
Shall meet DD and her husband there, and then after the match we are going to a Spanish tapas restaurant for dinner. I had just got tonight's dinner out of the freezer when DD texted me the plans, and quickly put it back in again.

A quiet morning of reading the papers, an early lunch then off on the bus to the ground. Mustn't forget my season ticket.

Hope Me Corner feels better soon.
Have a lovely weekend with your family, Foxy.

Come on you Saints!

Urmstongran Sat 02-Sept-23 07:46:00

Good morning everyone from a sunny south Manchester.
Here’s Matt.

Good morning from sunny Sefton.
Love the cake, Grandmabatty. Norfolk? How delightful, Foxygloves. Today we’re going on a canal walk with DS1, his other half and their water-loving golden retriever followed by lunch in a favourite pub.
My thoughts go to those for whom life atm is not so easy. Have the best day possible everyone.
🐶 🤦‍♀️ 🌻

Good one, Urmstongran. Nice to see you.
