Google blushes

Some time ago ( before I discovered the fount of wisdom and knowledge that is gransnet) one of the shrubs in my garden was in grave danger of being smothered and strangled by bindweed. Not knowing how to best resolve the problem , I turned to Google. Unfortunately I had a senior moment and had completely forgotten the name "bind weed". All I could remember was the name of its cultivated variety. So I happily, in all innocence and naivety googled " how to get rid of vigorous morning glory ". Well!!! How was I to know!!! What an education that turned out to be!!
Has anyone else had a Google revelation that they would rather not have had?

I once googled Cocker Spaniels and received a lot of pornography .
Just tried again and it seems to have been taken off !

When I was working I ran a business doing mother and baby development classes. We used sensory balls in the classes that had soft little spikes all over them. When I was looking for some replacements I googled ‘prickly balls’. I found out that some people have very strange life styles and do awful things to their bodies!

I asked a young male shop assistant if he had fat balls! (for the birds in my garden) blush

My unfortunate search was for things to stop the french doors banging into the lean-to pergola frame. I searched for "door restraints". It was quite an education. I should have searched for "door restrainers".

My DH wanted to order something from the House of Bath but he typed in Bath House and was quite surprised by what turned up. I have often thought of trying to see what happens if you put 'Looking for a black bitch' into Google - I would be talking about Labradors but...!

Imagine the trouble you can get into when typing in something to do with your old School which was in Cockermouth!!!!!!
Yes, both a friend and I have accidentally done it and shut down quickly. Cockermouth meet-ups? School reunions. The worst was when Friends Reunited was on the go.blush

A few years ago, it was DH's wish to go on a cruise. Although not my cup of tea, I agreed and planned to make the best of it.
We usually research quite thoroughly the places we visit beforehand, including recommendations etc.
I innocently googled “tips for cruising” - realised I must've had a very sheltered life as the results were WAY more than I bargained for shock blush

Until I read and puzzled over some of these I didn’t realise how innocent I am and I’m not googling them.
My sensibilities wouldn’t allow it.

yes . I had a shock when I looked up the band Mcfly several years ago for my grandchildren. .... I just entered the word Mcfly and was shocked at what appeared and deleted quickly hoping it wouldn't stay on my computer..

I then typed in adding band.

When working in health education with children, I looked up feet pictures for a work shop and got plenty of suggestions not suitable for children!!

PamelaJ1 Sun 03-Sept-23 14:13:01

I googled fiends reunited 🤦🏼‍♀️

Years ago when I was new to computers I wanted to book a treat for hubby's birthday. I was thinking a driving experience, sailing, flight on a Spitfire type of thing. Virgin did these experiences so I typed in Virgin Experience. You can imagine what came up. I yelled to my daughter to make it all go away!!!

My older, quite prim and proper SinL gave me a colouring in book and pencils years ago. No idea why, as it wasn’t something I did, or wanted to try. Last week, I decided to give it all to a lady who did car boot sales - TG I flicked through the pages first!!
Despite the pretty patterns, each picture contained an obscene expression including the C word and I don’t mean Christmas!!

Adult colouring books for my elderly father. You'd be amazed what some people like to colour in

I was trying to make a toy hen and chicks. I googled "chicks"

Parsley3 Sat 02-Sept-23 14:12:36

In my innocence I once googled Virgin trains.

mokryna Sat 02-Sept-23 14:06:12

Oh yes. Trying to print out ready made Christmas cards for my pupils to colour in, I wanted google to show for me, for me to copy and glue 3 double-lined font Xx.
I was very surprised what I was shown when I just typed in xxx.
It wasn’t very Christmasy!

On another forum ages ago I posted about ‘tits on fat balls’ Afraid to say it was quite deliberate, but we really did have a lot of long tailed tits on that particular bird delicacy at the time.

Callistemon21 Sat 02-Sept-23 13:55:35

😂😂😂
I'm not going to try either of those!!

Purpledaffodil Sat 02-Sept-23 12:54:58

I couldn’t identify a pretty bird in the garden so I googled”Tits images”. 😱Definitely nothing to do with the RSPB😀
