The forecast for this coming week is for sunny skies and warm weather.
I view of the type of weather we have had for most of the summer, I give warning that I will not be responsible for my act when the it’s person says “ oooh it’s too hot”

I was glad I'd read this thread. As DH stared in dismay at the state of his car I was able to say knowledgeably, 'Oh that's the Sahara dust!'

karmalady Fri 08-Sept-23 06:30:44

There is still a massive amount to dust in the air and more coming our way. 6.30 am now and the sky is bright red, due to dust. I hope the forecast thundery rain at 4 does happen, it will help clean my car and the air

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 08-Sept-23 06:14:21

It's cool and misty here in Norway ( sigh)...

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Sept-23 21:54:37

Saharan dust was my excuse for not getting my car cleaned this afternoon

Mollygo Thu 07-Sept-23 21:40:38

We have the Saharan dust as well. DH says he will hose it down while I’m at work tomorrow, so I don’t notice the water usage!

Catterygirl Thu 07-Sept-23 20:34:59

Bring it on. It makes me feel well. 31 degrees is just right for me. The rest of the year I am wearing two pairs of pyjamas and a bed jacket and still shivering.
Apologies to those who feel uncomfortable in the heat.

Callistemon21 Thu 07-Sept-23 20:20:20

Our cars were covered in Saharan dust too!
Actually, still are.

Don't clean it off with a cloth and water, it could scratch the paintwork, just use a hose or pressure washer.

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 07-Sept-23 19:38:10

This afternoon MrOops car is covered in orange Saharan dust, he had it cleaned yesterday!

Oopsadaisy1 Thu 07-Sept-23 19:34:21

Me too.

GrannyGravy13 Thu 07-Sept-23 19:32:33

I hope the sun and warm weather stays around for the whole of September 🤞

Given most of our summers are usually fairly miserable, one day of sun, three of rain etc etc so a week or two of sunshine is surely not to much to hope for/put up with.
Most of the year we are wrapped up in woolies and coats.
Sunshine lifts spirits and yes too hot is hard, stay in the shade. It never lasts long sad

Exactly.

Light rain here in SW Wales early this morning. Now dry, warm and sunny, and everything coated in a the light pink Saharan sand.

Bridie22 Thu 07-Sept-23 18:26:15

Thick fog here!!!

Good job we have AC as the daily temp is 32 with bursts of heavy showers. Poeople say it is the most prolonged season of hot weather they can recall. Climate change innit?

Please, please let the wall to wall sunshine extend to Wales, tis where we are off to at the end of the week. Went to Mumbles a few years ago in April, expecting possibly some rain, weather was like the Mediterranean, we extended our stay smile

Very warm in Wales this morning. I was very glad to be in the Farm Shop.

Not a fan of blistering heat but all said and done, here in London, can't speak for other parts, it has been a lovely summer. We've had sun but also rain and not too hot in the main.

Callistemon21 Tue 05-Sept-23 16:31:30

It's 29C here. There was a breeze this morning which was refreshing but we've just arrived home and it's stifling in the garden even under the shade. DH is indoors, very sensible.

Mollygo Tue 05-Sept-23 16:27:55

It’s 25° to 26° here in Lancashire. Our dog is wilting in the shade.

Juicylucy Tue 05-Sept-23 16:16:19

I to won’t be happy hearing people moan about the sun when all they’ve done is moan we’ve had no summer. Bring it on hope it’s here for a while.

Ooops we organised for this week to dig out some wooden stakes surrounding a small bed outside our front window. Had to put my pick down after 10 minutes and retreat inside. Waiting for the sun to move over so the front is more in shade. It's not too hot in the shade as there is a very nice gentle breeze. The stakes are about 6 inches deeper than we thought, the lady who put them in obviously did a thorough job.

karmalady Tue 05-Sept-23 14:29:28

my weather station is now saying 29 and it may well get up to 30 today. I hope not, it is intensive and there is no escape, apart from closing up my house to be like a cave. Inside is 24 and that is because of the cave plus drying washing on a rack in front of a fan. I hate that I cannot be doing things outside. I need to protect my skin, it is not just the disconfort

Musicgirl Tue 05-Sept-23 14:20:40

I like it between 20-25°C - normal English summer temperatures. Anything much above that and l start to wilt. Of course, the problem with high temperatures in this country is not so much the heat but the humidity.

Bella23 Tue 05-Sept-23 13:48:49

I love the sunshine but like to view it from a cool place, even the sun porch is too hot today.

Nannan2 Tue 05-Sept-23 13:39:06

My son moaned other day "why is it so hot"? I gave him a hard stare as its first time we have had no rain for months!
