Morning Mick, morning All. Currently fine our corner of Somerset is threatened with more rain by lunch time.

A positive hospital appointment yesterday has heartened us both. We were given plenty of time with a patient oriented Professor who understood how scary we had found the drama. Totally reassuring, he explained what he believed had happened. To continue the monitoring we have been doing - he thanked me for bringing the BP list and ECG copy - meds were tweaked and as much as anyone can be certain he thought it was unlikely to happen again. We were advised what to look out for in monitoring. It’s a case of gradually rebuilding strength now and attending for checks when summoned. If worried we can call the secretary and ask to be seen. We were with him for over half an hour, no sense of rush, very patiently answered our question list. Phew.

I’m not sure if it would be the same in your building Mattie but similar issues with bungalows here are repaired via the buildings insurance arranged by the management company. No immediate repair cost to anyone. Hope physio can begin soon ash, once there are face to face appointments it may be the physio can refer onwards, it seems to be the system here. Good luck with the German brook, it will all be worth it. Sounds a step forward whitewave. Take it easy today

Best be off. My volunteering morning, I get a lift so best not be late lurking on the corner!

Have the best day you can everyone.

Urmstongran Fri 22-Sept-23 07:56:52

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s damp out and it’s time to put a throw on top of our 4.5 tog duvet tonight’s think as I woke this morning wrapped up in it like Nanook of the North - obviously trying to get warm.

Here’s Matt.

Morning from a clear, chilly S Hants, no car day worldwide so mine will stay here. Washing to get out before rain later, a new printer arriving, so I’ll set that up and grocery delivery this afternoon, pub tonight.
Have a painless onward journey brook and enjoy your visit.
You need a gentle day WW good your sister was seen amongst the strikes.
Enjoy your Friday all. 🦩🦩

Alygran Fri 22-Sept-23 07:54:24

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Chilly this morning.
Thank you for the birthday greetings yesterday. I had a nice day topped off with a lovely Indian meal. DD2 told the waiter it was my birthday and he had the whole restaurant sing happy birthday to me. 🤫
DD2 is off to work mid morning and I am meeting up with a friend for a walk and lunch.
Hope all goes well for your sister WW.
Have a good day everyone

Liberty Fri 22-Sept-23 07:53:18

Lovely to wake up to sun here in Suffolk. Good morning everyone and hope it is a good day for all, especially those carrying burdens and worries.

I’m meeting a friend for lunch and as she has just returned from a holiday with friends in Scotland,I’m looking forward to hearing all about it. Apart from that I hope we can begin to start tidying the garden which is looking very bruised and battered with the recent strong winds.

There is a real autumnal feel to the weather which I love but no so much the darkening days and cold that follow.

Beechnut Fri 22-Sept-23 07:53:11

Good Morning everyone from a bright Severnside.
Sunny morning forecast with thunder later. We’ll see on that one.

I had my feet attended to yesterday. I’m feeling rather annoyed about something and as yet can’t seem to find away through it.
Off to do the weekly shop. My fridge is looking very bare, more than usual and I also need some store cupboard items.

Have a good day or better day than before all 🌺

Grandmabatty Fri 22-Sept-23 07:52:28

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 9° and cloudy. Rain is forecast.
Brook I wish you a safe journey. I'm not a lover of Edinburgh airport although needs must. Ash I hope the physio helps you. Grannysomerset I love the work of Kafe Fassett.
Yesterday I achieved lots of little things which had been niggling me. I bought wool to knit hats for the boys so I'll start one today. I need a cable needle though, so a trip to town is required. I have included a photo of the wreath I made at the class last night. It was pleasant enough, although the other table were extremely loud and raucous. However I expect I spend too much time alone now to suffer that. I'm quite pleased with the wreath.
Today, a quick trip to town to pick up the aforementioned cable needle and return two jumpers I got for my birthday which drown me. I'll need to do a food shop today as well. Then the door man is coming this afternoon to take final measurements. Tonight I'll visit mum. Have a good day all

Ladyleftfieldlover Fri 22-Sept-23 07:52:01

Morning all from a beautifully sunny West Oxfordshire. I am going to a talk on Georgian Architecture in Dublin this morning. I am taking my neighbour. The cats are due to be de-flead this weekend so must collect some medication from the Vet. Someone from BT is coming this afternoon to do something to the landline. Whatever it is will result in our bills being reduced as we hardly use it. Later I will click and collect a new small nonstick frying pan.
Have a good day especially those of you with troubles,

GrannyGravy13 Fri 22-Sept-23 07:48:51

Morning all

My darling 8yr old GS slept over last night, he has just devoured a plateful of bacon, scrambled egg and marmite toast. He had to be at school by 8am (long walk, next door but one to me 🤣)

I am off to gym first thing, then it’s washing to be done, and school pick up for GS and pre-school pick up for The Imp.

I think it might be a takeaway for dinner this evening.

Things are moving forward for your sister Whitewavemark2 🤞

Hope your hip pain isn’t to debilitating Ashcombe

Have a good day folks 🙋‍♀️🦩

Foxygloves Fri 22-Sept-23 07:48:23

Good morning all on another crisp and sunny September morning!
I know storms are supposed to be on their way but it’s hard to believe with sunshine and a clear blue sky.
Not a lot on today so I hope to finish packing up summer things and airing my winter woollies - plus triaging and charity bagging as I go. I am running my neighbour to the station later as she is away for the weekend and parking is £11 a day so it saves her a bit as well as being more secure.
I don’t know who else is watching the rugby World Cup but last night’s French “cricket score” against poor Namibia was embarrassing, not to say tedious.
Wishing you a pleasant day with kind thoughts to all with illness whether their own or a loved one’s to cope with.

Grandmadinosaur Fri 22-Sept-23 07:46:11

Good morning all from East Yorkshire where it feels chilly but with a bright sky. I love autumnal days like this.

I’m awake surprisingly early despite feeling tired after my day in London yesterday meeting my friend. We enjoyed Buckingham Palace especially seeing the costumes worn at the Coronation. So much detail in them especially Comilla's dress.
On leaving there we got wet with a downpour as we were walking through Green park. My friend is keen to meet up again soon. She wants to visit Hamleys as she has a young grandchild now.

Today I have an item to return to Sainsburys and a click and collect from TK Maxx to pick up. Then we will decamp to our lodge for the weekend.

Safe journey Brook and enjoy time with your son.

What a busy day that was GM phew!

luluaugust Fri 22-Sept-23 07:43:53

Good morning from a cloudy W Kent. Shopping for me this morning and then over to DD2 to see GS in from school as he finishes early on a Friday. DD’s house is full of workmen still so hoping we can find somewhere to sit.
Best wishes to all

Mizuna Fri 22-Sept-23 07:31:28

Good morning from a bright, breezy Cornwall. To Wetherspoons for breakfast with a friend this morning, her treat apparently. Then I'll continue to remake some cushions, which need ties. I use the seams cut out of recycled denim jeans because they're so robust and I like the look of them. May also do some tree lopping up in my wood if my knee is in agreement. 10 weeks today and that dodgy joint will be replaced. Hope the physio helps, Ash.

GrannySomerset Fri 22-Sept-23 07:28:31

Currently sunny but rain in the forecast but as I have a busy day I will ignore it. Dentist followed by oldies coffee morning, film show this afternoon and then DD and DSiL arrive for the weekend, so non-stop excitement today. On top of yesterday, when I went with a friend to a small but wonderful exhibition of quilts by Kaffe Fassett, lunch out and some clothes shopping, I am having a very full time. Hope everyone else is as lucky.

Grandmachrisy47 Fri 22-Sept-23 07:25:28

Morning all. A very busy day yesterday so didn’t read all your news till the evening.
Spent most of the day having a manicure and pedicure and eyebrow tint. My treat to myself. As the advert says, I’m worth it 😂. Home, then back out to my Pilates class. I used to do Pilates a few years ago the stopped, just took it up again in March. I’m finally feeling the benefit of it.
Waiting for dgd for breakfast and school.
Belated birthday greetings to Alygran. Hope all with worries get some relief. Off to put washing in, hope it stays dry out there.

ginny Fri 22-Sept-23 07:13:51

Good morning, overcast at the moment and not sure what the forecast is for later.
I have my pre op’ appointment this morning so hoping all is well with that.

whitewave glad your sister is getting her treatment sorted .
Brook enjoy your travels.
Kind wishes to all in pain and those with worries. A good day wished for all and a smile along the way.

Pittcity Fri 22-Sept-23 06:55:31

Good morning from Colchester where we've had overnight rain. Dry with a high of 18° is the forecast.
I'm up early as I slept well with nobody here to disturb me. I also bought myself a 3 tog single duvet that I didn't throw off in the middle of the night as the temperature was just right. DH just covers himself with a sheet ...too cold ...and the king size duvet is too hot.
Ironing board out this morning as I'm waiting for an Amazon delivery.
DH will be home later with more washing. Probably a takeaway tonight.
Love to all 🦩 x

Marydoll Fri 22-Sept-23 06:52:40

Good morning all from Glasgow, where its only 8°C.

First of all, belated congratulations to Alygran, I hope you had a lovely day.
WWM, a bit further forward with your sister's treatment, you must be emotionally and physically exhausted.

Baubles, I was sorry to read of your husband's ill health, I hope the doctors can get to the better of it.

We had a lovely overnight in Troon, but I'm finding I prefer my own bed more and more.
We were the only guests in the hotel, which was a felt bit strange.
It was so windy that my eyes hurt, but I loved watching the waves crashing over the sea wall. We had planned on playing a game of crazy golf, but as the course was right next to the see, it was closed. 🌊
However, last night I realised I had left my phone and tablet charger in the hotel, so I am really annoyed with myself, as it was new. 😡

As Kalu says, the schools are off today. I was supposed to be meeting Dollie and DIL, but she now has a birthday party to go to. 😔 DD was also planning to meet us, so a bit of a disappointment.
In a perverse way, I am slightly relieved. My feet are always painful, but I seem to have developed an increasingly painful lump under the sole of my foot. It could be a rheumatid nodule, so I'm not sure if there is anything that can be done about it. I will give it until Monday, before contacting the doctor.

Wishing you all a pleasant day and best wishes for all the poorlies.

brook2704 Fri 22-Sept-23 06:51:58

Good morning everyone from Edinburgh airport where we’ll soon be boarding our flight to Basel. When we arrive we’ll have to find the bus into the centre and amuse ourselves until DS finishes work. Unfortunately I don’t speak any German so it’s always a bit tricky
It’s very busy at the airport here. I don’t enjoy the airport experience much at all but needs must
Hoping all goes well for your sister WWM it’s exhausting like you say so please take it easy
Have a lovely time with your DGD Kalu enjoy the chatter!
Hoping everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings 💐

karmalady Fri 22-Sept-23 06:48:48

Good morning, s somerset is 7 degrees right now and some rain may be coming, on and off until noon

I have washing on, a separate rinse first as I got them so dirty yesterday. I spent four hours doing hands and knees ground cover trimming. It looks lovely now, like a flat green sedum carpet with tall pops of colour from echinaceas. I did `downsize` my plantings and removed five roses, leaving five. Naturally I did nothing else all day, to recover

Boiler is being serviced late this afternoon and no more appointments this month. I brought some logs in as I almost felt the `pull` towards my log fire and matches.

Next big job is to clean my drive and that of my neighbour but I might do that on monday. Today, I think ,will be spent pottering in the house. I need to do windows, in and out, but next week is soon enough

Have a good day

Ashcombe Fri 22-Sept-23 06:46:42

Good morning from a dark but dry Torbay.

Be kind to yourself today, Whitewavemark2 after being there for your sister yesterday which would have been draining.

I’m glad you are finding plenty to keep you occupied, grandMattie as you settle into your new life. Your DS must have an interesting but demanding job.

Thank you for the kindly support regarding my hip. Yesterday, I had a telephone consultation with a very helpful GP within an hour of ringing up! I have to have physio from next month, starting with a video call. Meanwhile, codeine has been prescribed. He thinks it’s possible that my 18 year old resurfaced hip might be failing but the system dictates physio first so he can’t refer me directly to an orthopaedic surgeon. 🙄

Today we are travelling to Staffs by car to catch up with friends and family and to enable DH to visit Stafford Model Railway Show.

Have a good day for whatever is planned. 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩

grandMattie Fri 22-Sept-23 06:27:16

Good morning from a barely dawning Bristol. We had lovely weather in the morning and, apart from a few spits, the forecast rain never came.
I’m hoping it’ll stay dry as I’ve got a long walk to my Spanish class this morning.
I had a busy day yesterday with lots of exercise. I walked to Waitrose for some bits, but confess to taking the bus home as it was heavy.
A contractor and the warden came to lift my bathroom Lino and poke around under it. He said that it was most unlikely that there should be asbestos in the floor, more likely in the plasterboard but he didn’t think so. He’s not testing! The question now is - who is doing the work (a big job apparently).
I then went to my tai chi class and finally went to the building society for some cash - the uphill return walk is something else.
DS called for a chat, mostly about my meeting his boss. It was nice to chat, we don’t talk very often - the time difference and his work which is 24/7 living on the premises of a boarding school and being house father.
In the early evening, I helped my fellow organiser check the crockery, cutlery and glassware for our forthcoming Harvest lunch.
I managed to dry, fold and iron my washing. Phew!
Apart from Spanish this morning, my upstairs neighbour has invited me and another resident to tea this afternoon. I also need to bake for the church clean tomorrow morning. Phew.
Gentle thoughts to those who need it, kind thoughts to all. Carpe diem 🦩🦩🦩🦩🦩

Kalu Fri 22-Sept-23 06:11:55

Good morning all from Glasgow. Still dark outside 9deg but I don’t hear heavy rain.

A dry day would be an ideal opportunity for me to tick a few things off my outdoor to do list.

It’s September Weekend holiday here, schools are closed and I will collect GD2 later as she wants to spend the day with us and have a sleepover. She is a welcome breath of fresh air who talks non stop, a bit like Granny, thé talk anyway.

Have a pleasant Friday all, as best you can. Thoughts are with those going through troubling/worrying times.

RosesandLilac Fri 22-Sept-23 05:48:41

Good morning, a slightly damp and definitely chilly start here on the edge of the Cotswolds.
Yesterday’s torrential downpours with thunderstorms were impressive, unfortunately the garden looks decidedly battered now. DH took the dog for a long walk across the hills yesterday and somehow they missed the rain.
Today I need to get my act together for the painting break, I’m not feeling particularly enthusiastic, I don’t know why. It’ll be fine I’m sure.
Ironing to be done first thing, then I will start sorting out my packing.
Have a lovely day everyone 🌹
