Stroppy adult daughter!

No, my daughter is angelic.

Even our loving, kind, giving, compassionate daughters can be awkward sometimes. No you aren't alone.

To be honest, one of mine us more spikey than stroppy though.

Not stroppy, but strong- minded, determined, persistent, resourceful. I think her DH may put it differently.

God yes. Nice as pie one minute and the next down your throat and really unpleasant. Tbh has always been like it. Many a time I’ve been in tears after an onslaught. Seems better since the gc arrived, she wants advice from mum, and realises bringing up children isn’t easy and the old resentments disappear. I’m sure sil has been on the receiving end as well but he’s a stoical chap.

Mountain it seems only close family who get both barrels fired at them. They say you always hurt the ones you love best. Dd doesn’t seem to take it out on friends - if she spoke to them how she sometimes speaks to us she would have none!

One of my daughters is stubborn, opinionated and the strongest person I know but she’ll do anything for you, I don’t agree with her choices sometimes but I couldn’t wish for better.

What happened for her to behave like that?

Oh I have a stroppy adult daughter. But then she has a stroppy adult mum .

Thankfully not, but I do have a niece like that, she is in her 40s but behaves like a stroppy teen when with her mother, sulky and rude and so ungrateful for everything that is done for her. She has a responsible job and is quite capable but calls on her parents for everything, from arranging her MOT to sorting a broken appliance.

Yes my eldest daughter is so like me the sparks often fly when we are together. Seems stroppiness can be hereditary

My mam believes and tells people that she has a stroppy daughter. I believe that I do everything I can for her but nothing I do is good enough. Today I took her a TV guide for next week because I can't get her a paper tomorrow due to going away. I thought I was doing a good thing but apparently I didn't because she much prefers the TV guide that comes free in the Saturday paper. I'm not perfect but then no one is but I hold my tongue most of the time. However, the occasional slip makes me antagonistic and stroppy.

I should add that I have a sister in Aus who can do no wrong. Are some stroppy daughters just the ones you see more often?

I have one - stroppy daughter, I mean. Either she has mellowed with age, or feels she’d better be nice to me, in case I change my will and give all my worldly goods to her brothers 😂

No strops in our household - we have two sons! (But it was a bit of a shock when DILs came along!!)

vampirequeen - that’s so sad and hurtful, but try not to take it to heart. She’s taking her frustrations out on you. I take it she has mobility problems ?

To be fair she is, and aways has been very self-aware and realised quite young that she was far too uncompromising to ever be able to cope with a partner and/or children so she decided to have neither.

We get on very well most of the time, but now and again she gets worked up about something and I have a different view. My policy is to say nothing and just make vague noises. I then get harangued for not being prepared to have a proper row with her, which she finds very frustrating.
