Love and best wishes to you too soop! The hernia news sounds hopeful.
Here in East Anglian we have had some torrential rain, with a lot of the local roads flooded, but nothing like Scotland. The gales are due over the weekend but we have had about 75mm rain in 24 hours, according to our rain gauge.
We stayed inside, warm and dry and sorted out all of the top cupboards in the kitchen. Very smug now. Also smug because I have lost 5lbs this week!

Grandmabatty Fri 20-Oct-23 18:18:30

Good evening Kitcheners. Soop that's hopefully better news for you. Nannytopsy well done on the weight loss!
It has poured here in Polmont all day with no let up. Very windy too. I was at Aldi quite early before it got too bad. I have done all the washing and some housework but admit to being lazy after the childcare days. Tonight I'm having trout fillet baked with orange and a salad. Very healthy. I'm also having some prosecco. Not so healthy! I've enjoyed my quiet day. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Hello kitchen people. OH is cooking fish and chips for me. The decorators finished today so I was helping OH put the shelves and curtains back this afternoon. We’ll put everything else back tomorrow. My energy is coming back slowly but not quickly enough for me! It is 11 days since I first tested positive for covid.
Here is a photo of the bedroom/study so far:

Big congratulations to your DGD corner and also to your DGS gillgran, on passing their driving tests. I hope both of them enjoy the new found freedom and have many safe and trouble free journeys ahead
Good to hear you’ve a plan and a way forward soop take care lovely lady 💐
I’ve had a good day today, my volunteering session this morning was enjoyable and I met 8 different 4th year medical students from Aberdeen Uni, all lovely young people and I’m sure they’ll go on to become excellent doctors in the future. Then a quick trip to the gym for Aqua Zumba which is always a laugh. Finally my eye check up at the opticians wasn’t as bad as I’d thought. I’ll spare you the details but I need regular checks at the hospital eye clinic anyhow and they’re running behind on appointments. I’d got worried that something was wrong as my vision didn’t seem as sharp so I was pleased the optician checked everything. He didn’t find anything specific except he upped my prescription for distance glasses which hopefully will help a bit.
Hope you get your GP sorted soon Yia what a hassle
Enjoy your Prosecco grandmabatty, I’ll join you with a white wine! 🥂

Jaxjacky Fri 20-Oct-23 21:16:44

Well done to the grandchildren of corner and gill 🚕
Good you’re feeling better Yia not so good on the GP front, such hard work.
A longer walk this morning in the dry, no scrunchy leaves, just soggy ones, Tesco delivered pm, so we’ll eat this week 🙂
We then met my son and his girlfriend in our local for a catch-up, today is the third anniversary of them getting together, long may it last, she’s lovely. Phone call half an hour of getting home, umbrella of said girlfriend retrieved from the pub!
Hopefully soop some good news in the future.
Take care all in this dire weather for some.

Greetings from a bright, calm and sunny Kintyre. I have taken photos to post on to our Australian niece who didn't see any weather other than grey cloud and plenty of rain. She and her travelling companion have driven from Edinburgh into England. When their two months of adventure are over, they will spend the final night in London before flying home to Perth.

Urms Both you and your dear husband have weathered many trials and tribulations. Feeling "down" is natural. You have an abundancy of positivity that will lift your spirits and help to carry you forward. You also have our love and very best wishes. flowers

annsixty A gentle, comforting group hug has been booked in your honour. smile

Well done to gillgran's grandson and corner's granddaughter for passing their driving tests.

grandmabatty Your photographs are delightful. Thank you for sharing.

Yia Keep up the good work. You are on the road to a full recovery. sunshine

Llfl Yay! That is a gorgeous colour.

I have a feeling that when the surgeon sees the result of the hernia scan and X-ray he will be reticent regarding recommending corrective surgery. He said that further surgery would be a serious matter and likely to present additional complications. He did add that I may need the skill of a plastic surgeon. All that I can do is follow his advice and trust that there will be a chance of some relief.

At 8:30 I shall raise my Saturday evening glass of G&T and wish you lovely lot a peaceful and pleasant weekend. smile moon

brook2704 Sat 21-Oct-23 18:39:43

We’ve had non stop rain all day here in Inverness, I’ve not been outside except to top up the peanuts for the squirrels and to put a few things in the bin!
Going to settle down for the evening and watch Strictly!
Have a lovely evening all x

Jaxjacky Sat 21-Oct-23 18:56:25

Gearing up to watch the rugby, cushion will be ready to hide behind!
Paper has been mostly read; rain here all afternoon brook tomorrow we’re due ☀️ all day.
Have a pleasant evening all.

Grandmabatty Sat 21-Oct-23 20:06:34

I'm in bed! My living room is out of bounds as the sofas and rug were cleaned earlier and aren't dry. I tried sitting on a kitchen chair but it was too uncomfortable so bed it is. I'm reading and enjoying the permission to be in bed this early. I'll watch strictly tomorrow morning. Have a good evening Kitcheners.

Blossoming Sat 21-Oct-23 21:33:34

Good evening dear Kitcheners. We were up late last night so had a lie in and been rather lazy today. MrB went for a walk, he is still aiming to lose some weight (to ease painful knees and hip) and is being very disciplined. Poached haddock with veg and mash for dinner. Greek yoghurt with a dollop of lemon curd for pudding. I’m eating better and my hiatus hernia is behaving itself, I’m making progress with the balance exercises so all good here 😊

I don’t mean to brag, but it’s been sunny here today, though with a very cold wind.

I really hope something can be done to help soop.

I love your room LadyLFL.

Have a lovely evening, hope everyone is safe and dry ❤️

annsixty Sat 21-Oct-23 22:13:38

A late Good evening from me.
Thank you soop for the group hug , it is really appreciated.

I have been to a friend’s for our regular Chinese takeaway.
It has been some weeks but we enjoyed it and the food was ok.
At 4pm I really felt too tired to go, this is a regular feeling now, but I forced myself and of course enjoyed it.
I was ready for home by 9pm and am now in bed but very thankful I can still do these things

My GD is clubbing in Manchester, I worry of course but ….

I hope to get out on my scooter tomorrow weather permitting, not a bad day today but chilly.

I send kindest wishes to poorlies and their carers.
Sleep well everyone

Grannmarie Sun 22-Oct-23 14:28:01

Good afternoon, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. It's cold, but bright and sunny, and the autumn colours on the trees are glorious. Soop, your new doctor sounds like a wise man, I hope he can help you.

Yesterday I attended the 80th birthday tea party of our friend who lost her leg last December. She looked fantastic, she manoeuvred her wheelchair around all the tables to chat to her guests. I was designated photographer, her daughter asked me to follow her Mum around and take lots of photos of all the company. We now have the makings of a commemorative photo book. 👍 I came home with a doggy bag for DH, he is very fond of cake!

A quieter day today, morning Mass, then visiting the sick, three housebound lady parishioners. Savoury mince, jacket potatoes and turnip for dinner, a wee change from chicken! Eton mess for afters.

Congratulations to the new young drivers, take care out there. TOYA, especially those with illness, worries or sorrow. Wishing everyone a peaceful Sunday.

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Oct-23 14:52:02

Grannmarie that's a kind thing to do, visiting the sick. I like the sound of the savoury mince. Annsixty I hope you got out in your scooter today. The sunshine is lovely n
I have pottered today. I've ironed, cleaned the bathroom and threw away old garden plants. Part of my neighbour's fence blew down on Friday so I can see into his very tidy garden, so I made sure my garden was semi tidy. There are still toys about though. The wee family were at a pumpkin farm earlier and had a wonderful time, so I'll hear about it tomorrow, no doubt. I'm being lazy this afternoon. I'll prepare dinner before I visit mum later. Soop I really hope the consultant can help you. 🤞 Have a good evening Kitcheners

soop Sun 22-Oct-23 16:08:47

Another beautiful day in bonnie Kintyre. We had a steady stroll this morning. The stroller is a big help, although some of the pavement surfaces can be a trifle tricky to negotiate.

annsixty Do you enjoy outings with your scooter?

Grannmarie Your friend sounds like a spirited lady. Mr Soop, like your dear husband, is also partial to cake. wink

Grandmabatty I thoroughly enjoy reading in the comfort of my bed. When I was working there was never the opportunity for such an indulgence. Now I consider it one of the perks of retirement.

My thoughts are with our poorly Kitcheners. I trust that you will listen to your bodies and reeelax. It makes sense.

I'm about to empty the washing machine. Considering there are just we two living here, the amount of laundry seems over plentiful. hmm

I shall join you all again tomorrow. Take good care of yourselves. smile moon

I leave you with the view from the window.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 22-Oct-23 16:30:03

Hello kitchen people. Lovely photos soop.
I have a little more energy today so I did my ironing. I’m making beef and ale (well, lager) for dinner. Just before I roll the pastry out, I toss over a few sliced raw mushrooms. Pudding is raspberry crumble. The raspberries were in the freezer and I had a batch of crumble left over. Easy peasy. Just some cream to whip up.
Have a good evening.

Scapa1 Sun 22-Oct-23 17:13:56

What a lovely day it has been here in Dunblane. I got towels washed and got them dried outside which was brilliant. Have had a lazy day really, made lentil and tomato soup for lunch which will do us for another couple of days. Venison casserole with mash, broccoli and baby corn for dinner. As usual on a Sunday we have biscuits and cheese for afters.
Tomorrow I am meeting five ex colleagues for lunch, we do this every two or three months and it is good to catch up. Strictly later tonight not sure about it this time, has it had it’s day?

Blossoming Sun 22-Oct-23 17:18:15

Good evening dear Kitcheners. It’s been a beautiful autumn day here. My digestive system is still behaving and (touch wood) my balance is slowly improving. I would love to get out for a walk while this weather lasts and photograph some autumn colours.

Hope your GD had a good time Annsixty and hope you have managed to get out on your scooter,

You are such a caring person Grannmarie, the birthday party sounds lovely and the memories made will be much appreciated. I’m sure those 3 ladies must appreciate visits too. Mince, neeps and tatties are a favourite of mine,

A well deserved “lazy” afternoon Grandmabatty after a productive morning of pottering.

Glad you enjoyed your stroll soop. I was always up very early for work and I too love a long lie in, drinking tea and reading, since my retirement in 2020.

Glad you’re on the mend LadyLFL*, your dinner menu sounds delicious.

Thinking of our poorlies, as always. Hugs to those caring for loved ones ❤️

annsixty Sun 22-Oct-23 17:32:14

Hello all.
Yes I did get out on my scooter, it was a lovely day and I dressed up warmly.
Sadly I had a scary incident when a man trapped me by a gate and I was very frightened. He was obviously very disturbed
I managed to get away when some people came by and I followed them
It was very unsettling and I came home quickly and locked my doors until my GD came home.
I was rather tearful for a couple of hours and my confidence about going out has been seriously dented.
Sorry to come out with all this but I am still quite upset.

Grannmarie Sun 22-Oct-23 17:54:29

Snap, Grandmabatty, the Wee Boy and his Mummy and Daddy were at the Pumpkin 🎃 farm today, too. They took this lovely photo on the way home, its looking towards Dunbarton castle with Ben Lomond in the background.

Stunning views, Soop, I'm glad your stroller helps you to get out and about to enjoy your beautiful surroundings.

I hope Annsixty had a good wee outing on her scooter today.
Blossoming, you are coming on leaps and bounds, I hope you can get out fir a walk soon.

Hello 👋 Scapa and Ladyleftfieldlover, your menus sound very tasty, enjoy!

Grandmabatty, I hope your Mum is in good spirits this evening.

I've dozed a bit this afternoon, I think I was a squirrel in a previous existence, hibernation would suit me fine!😴

Grannmarie Sun 22-Oct-23 18:01:42

Oh, Annsixty, crossed posts, what an upsetting experience for you! I'm so sorry to hear that. Thank goodness there were other people around. I hope you feel calmer soon. Maybe have some company, a friend or your DGD, on your outings on your scooter for a wee while to rebuild your confidence?
Wishing you a peaceful evening. 💐

Jaxjacky Sun 22-Oct-23 18:14:51

Oh dear ann what a fright, I hope you’ve had time to recover now. You’ll be walking soon Blossoming 👍
Two lots of washing done, hung outside, swiftly bought in after about an hour, I noticed the looming clouds when I was out walking, a shower ensued.
A lazy afternoon, we won a kilo of fine steak in the meat draw at our local, that’ll do.
Gammon simmering away in the slow cooker, apple juice, shallot and bay leaves, I’ll make cauli cheese; to be served with broccoli, carrots and floury potatoes.

A view you’d never tire of soop.

Baggs Sun 22-Oct-23 18:32:48

Oh dear, ann! I hope you feel better now after such a scare flowers

Yesterday and today have been pleasant weatherwise here so MrB and I have got a couple (out of dozens!) of garden jobs done. I am still getting bitten by midges and, I suspect, by the occasional ant, but the bites do not itch as much as truly "in season" ones. I obviously have yummy blood 🙄

SueDonim Sun 22-Oct-23 19:15:56

So sorry, Annsixty, what a fright.

I’ve no time to contribute at the moment, super busy at my son’s, but I’m trying to keep up with the Kitchen!

Take care, all. Xx

Grandmabatty Sun 22-Oct-23 19:17:05

Annsixty what a fright for you. 💐

Blossoming Sun 22-Oct-23 19:18:56

What a dreadful experience Annsixty flowers
