It’s quiet here today! We have just arrived at DD’s and will be off to collect DGS 2 from the child minder shortly. As it’s the first time, we have a password to identify us!
Hope all is well with soop’s leg 🤞

Good Afternoon Kitcheners.Hope you’re feeling better Neine so many bugs and viruses around.
Soop Did you see your G.P today and your now getting some relief.

We got home from Derbyshire last night.D.S is still very up and down it was a real struggle for him to go out for dinner with us and the in-laws but he got through it.It’s very hard seeing him like this.
Tomorrow I have my rheumatologist appointment, not looking forward to it but need some more help.We have now applied to a new GP practice recommended by our pharmacist so fingers crossed.

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

annsixty Mon 13-Nov-23 15:56:31

Yes it is very quiet as it was yesterday.
I am sitting down having taken paracetamol for my aching back.
It is getting more and more painful.
I have degenerative changes in my lower spine and perhaps should get up to date review of it.
It is a very unpleasant day here, very windy and dull.
My gardeners were here just before lunch, I think they were pleased to finish.
I have been clearing up after the weekend, washing on but not yet finished.
I have some paperwork to sort, not my favourite job but needs must.
We have a beautiful early sunset, perhaps it isn’t really early, I’m not aware of time passing.
Have the best evening you can everyone.

soop Mon 13-Nov-23 15:58:48

I have an appointment with the GP tomorrow afternoon. Will update you once I'm home.

soop Mon 13-Nov-23 16:10:41

Neine I feel sorry for you. There is a tummy bug doing the rounds in our village. Take good care of yourself.

You need a gentle hug annsixty. I was born with a lateral curvature of the spine. I walk, sit and perform every task with an aching lower back. The foot problem doesn't help a jot.

Our granddaughter organised a marvellous 60th birthday video for her father. We now a copy. It included messages and tributes from every member of the family. I had several misty-eyed moments. It's what Mum's do!

Hair trim tomorrow morning. GP mid afternoon. I shall join you in our kitchen when I return home. flowers for every one of You lovely lot smile moon

brook2704 Mon 13-Nov-23 16:26:16

Good to hear you’ve got an appointment with the GP soop hoping something can be done to help your poor foot and leg
Yia my heart goes out to you, it must be so hard seeing your son like that, I can only hope things will gradually get better, sending hugs ❤️
Non stop rain here all day, I dropped 10 yr old DGS off at school, he’s getting so grown up now and as tall as I am but he still enjoys snuggling up on the sofa with me. But get within a 5 minute radius of school and that’s it, he’s looking out for his pals, he jumps out of the car and I’m lucky if I get a ‘bye nanna’ before he’s off ! 🤣
I should be off out soon to collect DH from the station after his weekend away but he’s had a few problems with the trains today so won’t be in until much later tonight. I won’t bore you with all the details but suffice to say he should make sure he knows where the station is before setting off from his sons house with a train to catch. Sigh …. 🤦‍♀️
Ah the password system nannytopsy I’ve been briefed on that a few times myself - almost had to have my fingerprints taken once in Cambridge before they’d release DGS to me - all for the best though
Hope your back feels better soon ann take care 💐

When I first took my granddaughter to nursery they took my photograph on arrival. They emailed it to my son and his partner for verification. I had a bright red nose and my hair was wild - it was a windy morning!

SueDonim Mon 13-Nov-23 16:51:43

It’s going to be a very busy household here - DD’s boiler has broken down and she and the family are moving in with us until it’s replaced! 😳

Take care everyone, I’ll be back when I have the time. 😂 xx

brook2704 Mon 13-Nov-23 17:02:03

Oooh have fun SueD enjoy the mayhem! 🤣

Jaxjacky Mon 13-Nov-23 17:31:41

Hi all, good luck tomorrow Yia and soop.
Organised chaos Sue but fun.
I hope you’re feeling better neine
A quiet Sunday; today the voluntary phone had fewer calls than last week which was hectic.
We’ve dropped MrJ’s car for it’s MOT tomorrow, three more parcels have been delivered, quiz later, the Christmas shopping is all but done.
It’s a good job I keep a list or I’d forget what’s ordered for whom!
Enjoy your evening.

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Nov-23 17:35:04

Good evening Kitcheners. Soop I'm glad you are seeing the GP about your leg. Better safe than sorry. Annsixty sorry to hear about your aching back. Brook my four year old grandson has stopped spontaneous cuddles. He'll give me a hug if I ask. Thank goodness for the two year old! Suedonim that sounds like chaos ahead! I bet you hope it gets fixed quickly.
Today was an early start and I have the start of a cold, picked up from the family. Dgs2 was awake very early therefore today has been challenging as he is tired and everything annoys him. Dgs1 is very tired and that makes him emotional. So I've had to work very hard at being kind today. I've dropped them off home and I'm sitting on the couch for half an hour before I make chicken curry for dinner. I'll tidy up the toys while it's cooking. Have a good evening Kitcheners

Grannmarie Mon 13-Nov-23 19:24:44

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people! Thank you all for your kind wishes.

Soop, I'm so glad you are seeing your GP tomorrow, hope he/she can help with your sore leg and foot. What a thoughtful and clever DGD, you now have a very special record of your son's special birthday.

Neine, thinking of you, hope you feel much better soon.
Annsixty, what a busy time you've had, have a good rest now and recover.
Nannytopsy, well done, your pudding club sounds amazing, what a great fundraiser.
YiaYia, thinking of you and your DS, good for him making the effort to go out with the family. Baby steps, he'll get there.🙏
Hope your appointment goes well tomorrow.
Hope your DH gets home OK, Brook, best laid plans....
Ladyleftfieldlover, when I first picked up DGD, the nursery worker joked that she hardly needed a password, one look at my face and she could see the strong resemblance to DGD.
SueD, good luck for your treatment tomorrow, you'll be able to hear the grass grow!
Well done on your Christmas shopping, Jaxjacky, I'm panicking a bit now, I've hardly started. I really depend on people giving me wish lists because I have no idea what to get them. Good luck with your Quiz.
Grandmabatty, you win the kindness award 🌟 today, you are so patient with your wee boys.💙💙 We had a nice video call from a very excited Wee Boy this afternoon, they had been to the dinosaurs 🦕 at Loch Lomond Shores, a wee change from the Sea Life Centre. His Mummy and Daddy are off this week, looking forward to seeing them all this weekend.

I had a domestic drama today, which was promptly sorted by the Dynorod Man, via Scottish Gas Homecover. That's my kind of superhero!
I'm enjoying the Monday evening quizzes on BBC2. Wishing you all a peaceful evening.
TOYA

Grandmabatty Mon 13-Nov-23 20:03:27

Grannmarie I shudder to think what the drama was that required a dynorod man! Glad it's all sorted.

‘Evening All ‘.

Today I accompanied my stepfather to a hospital appointment. En route to pick him up, the taxi driver asked me ‘have you taken the day off work to go with him?’.
That made my day!
😁

I was brought up sharpish later at the hospital though! When my stepfather had gone in from the waiting area to have his bloods taken, another couple turned to me and asked me ‘how long had you and your husband been waiting to be called?’.
Ouch.
🤣🤣

annsixty Mon 13-Nov-23 20:27:34

On Saturday evening our taxi driver thought my GD was my S's wife.
She is his D.
She wasn't impressed but it was quite dark.

Ladyleftfieldlover Tue 14-Nov-23 15:23:32

Hello kitchen people. Today hasn’t worked out quite as I hoped. It should have involved a trip to Oxford, lunch at Cote and seeing the Victorian exhibition at the Ashmolean. Sadly, I woke this morning feeling quite grim, as if I hadn’t slept. After cancelling our lunch I curled up on the sofa. I took the opportunity to sort some Christmas things out. OH has had some shelving delivered for the garage so he’s playing with that.
Dinner will be fish and chips.
Have a good afternoon and evening.
Soop, I hope your visit to the doctor was worthwhile.

annsixty Tue 14-Nov-23 16:00:22

Good afternoon from a very wet Stockport.
We had some sun this morning but the afternoon has been dreadful, dark and miserable.
Sorry to hear we have kitcheners who are under the weather, perhaps it really is the weather that is responsible.

I hope Grandmabatty has managed to get out today.
My next door neighbour has just started to mind her GD who is nearly one, two days a week.
The weather has been less than kind and I don’t envy her or anyone else in the same situation as it is obviously so much easier to get out on dry days.
We have a lovely park less than 5 minutes walk from us with play equipment, walks, and a stream in which I spent hours floating Poohsticks.

Last night myGD for reasons known only to herself decided to alter the settings on the CH boiler, all she did was completely b….r the timer.
We cannot set the correct time and the instruction book has gone astray. If all else fails tonight I shall have to get the BG engineer out and I have told her she will be paying the £60 call-out charge.

I am off now to get a cup of tea ( and a mince pie) dinner is sorted and just need cooking.

Look after yourselves everyone and keep warm and dry.

‘Evening All’

Today would have been my lovely mum’s birthday. She would have been 93y. She shared it of course with King Charles, a fellow Scorpion. I miss her, especially so in this emotional year, and think of her often.

We have just watched this DVD in memory of her. It was the last DVD she asked me to buy her. She loved the actress Joan Plowright. When she’d watched it she passed it on to me said ‘it’s a tear jerker’. It is for sure. Highly recommend it.

Grandmabatty Tue 14-Nov-23 17:20:07

Good evening Kitcheners. Annsixty we did get out. I let dgs2 take the lead and we walked quite a bit. It was raining heavily but it didn't bother him nor me. So a long walk meant a happy boy and a happy grandma. He and I blethered away. He mostly says "Car" or "Blackcar" but there's a lot else amongst the car talk. Dgs1 was tired after nursery and lay on the couch watching race cars. Can you see a pattern here? 😂 Anyway it was a peaceful day. Urmston one of the other patients asked if I was visiting my sister! That didn't please me much. Tonight I'm having chicken curry but not yet. A wee rest on the couch first. Urmston I've never seen that film. One to look out for. Ladyleftfieldlover I hope you are feeling better now. Enjoy your evening all

Grannmarie Tue 14-Nov-23 17:40:42

Good afternoon/ evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people.

Soop, I hope your GP appointment was helpful. I saw the practice nurse this morning. Reassuringly, my blood tests were OK. I now have a telephone consultation with GP re the tiredness. 😴I have to complete this rather unusual questionnaire, looks like she is querying sleep apnoea.
Ladyleftfieldlover, sorry to hear you are under the weather, hope you feel better soon.
Annsixty, maybe try looking for a YouTube tutorial on your thermostat/ timer before you have to pay call out charges. When I got my new Hive mijig last year, the engineer didn't leave an instruction book, he said it's all online videos now.
Urms, 💐.

Heavy rain all day here, miserable weather. I much prefer a cold, crisp day with blue skies to all the grey and damp.

Mince and tatties for dinner. Wishing you all a peaceful Tuesday evening. TOYA

aggie Tue 14-Nov-23 18:18:25

I was about to say to go online for instructions on your CH , I haven’t done it but my Daughters say it’s very clear , you can get the right information for your boiler there

annsixty Tue 14-Nov-23 18:30:22

Thankyou both.
I shall get my GD on to it as soon as she is home from work.

brook2704 Tue 14-Nov-23 19:00:18

So pleased to hear your blood test results were good grannmarie but that doziness questionnaire is quite interesting- I’ll probably do it myself 🤣
Hoping you’re feeling much better soon llfl, you always sound so busy and energetic but hopefully a rest today will have done you good
Hope you can get your heating sorted ann such a hassle when these things happen
Thank you for the recommendation Urms I don’t know that film but pleased you enjoyed watching it in memory of your dear mum
Ive been to the gym today for Boxercise which I really enjoy, it’s non contact so you’re punching as hard as you can into the air in time to some good motivational music. I’ve probably not explained it very well but hope you get the jist! Then a zoom volunteering session this afternoon followed by a trip to Aldi, Dunelm and the Range. There were quite a few bargains in the Aldi middle aisles - always a bit random though but I love a good rummage

Jaxjacky Tue 14-Nov-23 19:11:22

Hi all, not good llfl I hope you’re improving.
* Urms* how to burst your balloon🙂 A reminiscent film for you x
Good day for you all Grandmabatty ‘chasing cars’ comes to mind.
MrJ’s car passed it’s MOT, but does need some subsequent work, parts are on order.
I’ve been getting some pain from my hernia, time to visit the GP, I’d probably be borderline on my MOT,
On a plus, we came 2nd at quiz last night, two weeks running now!
Enjoy your evening all.

SueDonim I like going to the House of Bruar it makes a great day out for us. Just over an hour away unless there are roadworks!! We always have their soup and a big chunk of the bread. Usually manage to spend something in the food dept. but seldom buy anything else.
