Crumbs Grandmabatty what a horrible shock, it is flipping annoying and expensive, pleased you’re ok apart from very hacked off.

brook2704 Sun 29-Oct-23 18:50:37

Oh so sorry to hear that grandmabatty how frustrating. It’s so disruptive when these things happen and especially when it’s not your fault.. Hope you can get it fixed easily enough and your DD can sort out some alternative childcare for tomorrow
Is there 🍷 needed?

Grandmabatty Sun 29-Oct-23 18:38:48

Good evening Kitcheners. I'm very cross. I tried to visit mum but there was deep flooding on the road and I didn't see the pothole which has demolished my front tyre. I managed to limp home but tomorrow will be spent trying to get it sorted. So no childcare for the boys. I'm seriously fed up

brook2704 Sun 29-Oct-23 18:21:58

Crossed posts Jax - shame the weather put a dampener on the evening. I always enjoy a quiet sit down when the DGC have gone to bed but like you say they’re going later and later now - and growing up far too fast 😳

brook2704 Sun 29-Oct-23 18:18:26

Hi 👋 Tilly and mrshat good to see you both
How lovely that you’ve been able to spend time looking after the 3 beautiful cats charley, hope you get to do it again soon
Well done with all the cooking llfl I wish I could cook like you. We’re having straightforward baked salmon and roasted veg soon, it’s a favourite option for when I can’t decide what else to make

Jaxjacky Sun 29-Oct-23 18:12:03

Hi all, a wet, miserable day down south, it did stop for a couple of hours, more to come next week.
Our pub adventure didn’t fly, it was pouring and no parking, the grandchildren did enjoy the novelty of going out at 9! there was a large clap of thunder about 10 when they retired. We followed soon after, it’s odd when we all go up at a similar time, I remember when there used to be more bedtime shenanigans.
Have a pleasant evening.

TillyTrotter Sun 29-Oct-23 17:49:39

That was no hardship for you Charleygirl I think you would have been honoured to help out.
Have you checked your bag in case the “favourite” cat crept in to come home with you?

Warm wishes to soop and everyone in the kitchen; I read but do not post often. 👋

mrshat Sun 29-Oct-23 17:46:10

What a lovely post Urms - brought a happy smile to my face. Great memories for you to stash away. Keep safe xx

Charleygirl5 Sun 29-Oct-23 17:33:51

I was asked to cat feed 3 beautiful babies on 3 consecutive days and I thoroughly enjoyed myself with one in particular who always liked my cuddles. I did sit down to stroke her but she was unimpressed when I told her after 45 minutes I could not sit there for 10 hours as I had to return to my own house.

Little for me to do as they spend most of their time outdoors- only replenishing their bowls with biscuits and water. There were treats but only one was interested. I will see them again when I return the keys on Tuesday. It takes little to please me.

Ladyleftfieldlover Sun 29-Oct-23 17:25:33

Hello everyone,
Such a beautiful post Urms from yesterday. Certain moments are so precious and can be stored up to refer to in the future.
I am having a little rest on the sofa with Milo purring and snoring next me!
I managed to cook roast chicken and all the trimmings (bread sauce, stuffing balls) and only had to sit down once for five minutes. I had made and frozen the pudding a while ago. Iced chocolate soufflé.
It was lovely to see our daughter for the first time since the wedding in France. OH is driving her to the railway station as we speak.
Have a good evening.

brook2704 Sun 29-Oct-23 17:18:37

Such a lovely post Urms always thinking of you both ❤️
I arrived home safely last night after a good journey and DH picked me up from the airport. There was just a half hour delay so nothing significant. Travelling always makes me tired even though you’re just sitting around mostly so I’ve had a restful day today not doing much at all. Although I did manage a couple of hours in the garden together with the light drizzly rain. I’m hoping to get my little winter garden ready soon, it’s where I like to sit out in the winter - well wrapped up of course.
It’s dark now here so we’ve settled in for the evening, going to catch up on Strictly before the results show later!

soop Sun 29-Oct-23 16:06:53

Urms Your post was uplifting. I can sense the shared love within your family. Thank you.

Grannmarie The Wee Boy will have enjoyed a super special day. I envy his boundless energy. Yours too.

RosiesMaw I'm betting that Rosie remains outstretched on her sofa. Do you have to squeeze in beside her? She appears to have special privileges. wink

Today's weather has been a mixture of sunshine and showers. We visited friends in the village and caught up with the local "gossip". All friendly. We live in a super supportive community. For which we are grateful, since twenty years ago, we arrived as "incomers". If either of us needed assistance, we know that we could knock on any door and be certain of a helping hand. Priceless!

I shall now bid you all a pleasant Sunday evening. It is time for a refreshing brew.

Thank you and bless you for your company. smile moon

Curlywhirly Sun 29-Oct-23 15:53:34

It cerrainly was a lovely post Urms - it's not often we ever 'have time to stand and stare'- as the poem by William Henry Davies so poignantly illustrates. We seldom sit and just appreciate what we have - if we have a loving family we are truly blessed. Here's hoping all goes well for you and your DH in the future.

Yiayia4 Sun 29-Oct-23 15:45:03

So happy for you Urms.
Thank you all for your kind thoughts for my DS.It such a shame he’s suffering again. We have lots of of things going on this week but next week we will be visiting him for a long weekend.
We’ve had storms and heavy rain here today, a day for chilling at home.
Enjoy your evening everyone.

Nannytopsy Sun 29-Oct-23 09:34:40

What’s lovely post Urms - so glad the DGC were there too. Our little man had a very busy day yesterday and slept from 7pm to 8am ( but 9am old time) so he is full of the joys this morning plus porridge and scrambled egg! Grandad is in charge while I have a shower. M&D are back in bed!
Glad to hear your news soop thanks
Well off to the shower …

dustyangel Sun 29-Oct-23 08:59:01

Dear Urms, I hope you and himself have many more such beautiful moments.

cornergran Sun 29-Oct-23 07:35:28

Your post left me with a huge smile urms. A magical time for you all.

Apologies, I can’t keep up in this speedy Kitchen so I’ll just send love to you all.

SueDonim Sat 28-Oct-23 22:35:10

Yes, yes, I was sympathising about the being whacked-outness of Rosie, not her bodily shape, Gillgran! I was Rosie-shaped once (not the ears, four legs or wet nose, mind!). Those days are but a distant memory now. grin

Such a sweet post, Urms.

Grannmarie Sat 28-Oct-23 21:42:47

Good evening, Soop and lovely Kitchen people. Thank you so much for your kind wishes on the anniversary of my dear sister in law, much appreciated. 💕
Soop, I'm delighted to hear better news of your dear sister, and very well done to your son, what an achievement!
Ladyleftfieldlover, your stained glass panel is beautiful, you are a talented lady. I hope you feel better soon.
YiaYia, I'm glad you're back home, but so sorry to hear about your DS2. I'm sending love and prayers for his speedy recovery. 💕🙏
Blossoming, I'm sorry to hear that you are not well. Hope you feel better soon and hopefully manage out to the Halloween events 🎃 tomorrow.
Beautiful photos, SueD and Brook. Safe journeys home to both of you, I've enjoyed reading about your family visits.
Urms, I was delighted to read about your family get together, it'll have done your hearts good.
Jaxjacky, I hope the weather improved and you've made it to the pub event.🤞

We're not long home from a lovely visit to DS2, DDIL2 and The Wee Boy. He was at a Halloween party at the Farm Park earlier today, dressed as Batman. They had dooking for apples and pass the Pumpkin! 🎃 So excited! We took him out on his bike around the neighbourhood to burn off the energy. He loved seeing the ' Halloween houses', so many are decorated inside and out, it's such a big thing now. We had dinner together, then watched Hotel Transylvania. ( I dozed😴, my usual these days. I was glad DH was driving home.)
I'll be glad of the extra hour tomorrow morning, but not the dark evening that follows!
TOYA, NNGB.

*SueDonim*, You would chuckle even more if you met me! smile.
I meant that I'm weary after DD & 6 & 9 year old DGDs visit.
I do wish I was as slim & sleek as MawsRosie. !!

You know how they say dogs and owners resemble each other?
Legs up to here, sleek and slim aye right, -that's not me! Rosie is my 5th greyhound and my body still hasn't got the memo!

Blossoming Sat 28-Oct-23 20:29:33

What a lovely post Urms, such times are indeed precious and a loving family is a rare gift.

Just a quick visit from me. I have been in bed all day as I was taken ill during the night. Nothing serious but very painful and debilitating and I got no sleep. I have had to miss the Hallowe’en shenanigans at the railway museum, but they run on Sunday too so hoping to get across tomorrow.

Goodnight dear Kitcheners, TOYA.

gillgran Sat 28-Oct-23 19:50:55

Lovely post, Urmstongran, great to have these family times.
I think of you, your husband & family often, & send my warmest thoughts to you all. x

Lovely pictures brook and Sued have good, safe journeys back both of you.
Well done your son soop and good news for your sister.
Talking of rain, it’s bucketing here, we have the grandchildren and if it starts storming our pub foray will be abandoned.
We’ve all been fed and watered, I’ll wish you a pleasant evening.

Urmstongran Sat 28-Oct-23 19:43:59

‘Evening All.’

We are home and cosy after 2 hours out at our youngest daughter and son in law’s house. Our Yorkshire Lass and her husband had driven over to be with us. It was to be together and celebrate the recent great scan result Himself had.

It was lovely to be with our family. Both girls, their husbands (we are so lucky we love them too - this isn’t always a given!) and the delightful Boy Wonder and L’il Miss (6) to give us all hugs and make us smile.

L’il Miss with a Halloween joke:
“Why does Dracula not have any friends grandma?”
... “because he’s a pain in the neck”.
🥰

At one stage I glanced across at Himself. He was sipping his Vimto. We all had flutes of champagne, and he was just quietly looking around the room, observing them all, watching and listening and I could see - just in that moment - how proud he was of them, pleased and a tiny bit emotional. Listening to the banter in the room and filing the memory away.

My heart was full tonight, as you can all imagine.

We left them to it. Indian curries to be ordered and the Yorkshire pair staying over. My darling man gets tired more easily but we are so very grateful that we had this night.
