Soop's warm and welcoming kitchen for friendship...
(1001 Posts)Here we are again...
And a very warm welcome to the newest kitchen.

Dear Soop, how I wish you could join us on Wednesday, that would be just wonderful.
You'll be there in spirit!
Aww Jaxjacky, I'm sorry to hear about Imogen's seizure, hoping and praying for her speedy recovery to good health. 💕🙏
SueD, the wedding sounds amazing, especially that good looking man in the kilt!
All the men wore kilts at my brother's wedding 20 years ago, and I have a gorgeous photo of my dear Mum surrounded by her five kilted grandsons, special memories. Safe journey home.
I'm glad you got a wee nap today Grandmabatty, you are up very early. I'm a great believer in synchronised siestas! 😴 😴
Thank you for the dogs in the manger, Urms, so cute!🤣
I have posted the dozen or so cards that are going a wee distance, but I've still got a lot to write. I do them in categories, family, friends, neighbours, church/ coffee morning, book group, etc. These will be delivered by hand over the coming weeks. Sadly, when I sat down to read through my Christmas card lists, there were a few who have passed away since last Christmas. 🙏
Well the gas man ( just a big laddie, really, very young) has been and gone, everything is sorted, I just have to pay the excess on my homecover plan.
Wishing everyone a peaceful Monday evening, this is my favourite telly week night, I love the Monday night quizzes. 📺

Sorry to hear about Imogen Jax such a worry for you all.Do hope all will be well.
Good evening Kitcheners. Jaxjacky I'm so sorry to hear about Imogen. She will be understandably upset. Neine that sounds like a lovely trip. Have a happy birthday when it comes. Soop we didn't make it out because of ice on the pavements. Dgs2 was on good form today. Dgs1 had fun at nursery and did a love heart for his mum. I even managed a sneaky nap when dgs2 was down. I have to tidy up the toys now and then make dinner. Cajun chicken pasta. I hope Brook and Suedonim are safely home. Have a good evening Kitcheners
Sorry to hear of Imogen's seizure, Jaxjacky, worrying & upsetting for you all. I do hope she makes a speedy & good recovery.
Cute Christmas card, Urmstongran, thank you for sharing.
Sounds like a lovely wedding, SueDonim, your son was popular!
Neine, enjoy your birthday/motorhome trip.
All of you getting ready for Christmas made me make a start on writing our cards, I've now finished most of them.
Now must get gifts sorted..........
Safe journey home brook.
I hope you all have a fantastic Glasgow meet up, looks as though there will be several going.
annsixty, I loved your comment to LauraN, (& the cute little tree).
Warm thoughts to you all, from a wet, dark N.,Cambs.,
I dearly wish that I could join the Glasgow gran group. I have so enjoyed several that were organised previously. I shall be with you in spirit.
Jax Please may Imogen receive the best possible treatment as soon as possible. She has done remarkably well for over two years. Such a worry for all the family.
SueDonim The wedding sounds perfect. And, I agree that you cannot beat a handsome fella wearing a kilt. The height of whorrrr!
Urms Your card raised a mighty big grin.
Naughtyneine, thank you for a most interesting post.
It is milder today. We managed a short stroll. I have caught up with the ironing. Do you lovely lot realise that we'll be needing a new kitchen in time for Christmas? How time flies.
Night night. Stay safe and keep warm.

Oh Jax so sorry to hear about Imogen. A shock for you all and upsetting too. I hope it’s just a blip. But of course it may affect whether she can drive I suppose. I seem to recall she’s that age?
x
The wedding sounds wonderful SueD, pics please.
Niene You will love the motorhome we had one for 8 years. We had so many adventures in so many places. We have discussed getting a smaller one but not sure if it’s a good idea or not.🤔
Lovely card Urms thank you.
Take care Kitcheners enjoy your day.
I’d have been flocking too SueDonim 🙂 it sounds like a wonderful wedding, sorry it’s so soggy in Hampshire, I’ve just been out in the drizzle.
Now it’s the day after I can say, Imogen had a seizure in the early hours of Sunday, ambulance, but no hospital, the first one for over two years. We were all in shock and imogen’s upset as it may mean future restrictions, my daughter is awaiting a call from the epilepsy consultant.
However, plenty are worse off and it didn’t stop their tree going up.
Your birthday plans are very exciting neine an adventure.
Especially when he’s 6ft2, almost as broad across the shoulders and good-looking, to boot, Brook!
How wonderful that all sounds Sue
I can’t recall when I last went to a wedding it is more funerals now!!
It is wet and miserable here so making the most of yet another day in.
Easy meal tonight so I will have a leisurely day.
We do have outside lights here so I have just got them out and tested them.
My S has a day off on Wednesday so I will persuade him to put the up.
It is early but I will have to wait another week.
After all I done have to switch them on until I am ready.
Naughtyneine
I am very envious of your motor home.
We had a touring caravan for years then a static in North Wales.
Some of my happiest memories.
Have the best day you can folk.
I, too am really looking forward to the Glasgow Gran meetup. I'll be the wee fat bald one 😂. Dgs2 has gone for an early nap, so I have some free time to catch up from an very early start. Safe journey home Brook. Wonderful wedding Suedonim. I'm looking forward to seeing you too Grannmarie and you Brook* (Jenny Agutter lookalike)
Awww how lovely SueD sounds like you had such a wonderful day, congratulations to the Happy Couple
And you can’t beat a man in a kilt!
Hello, hello, everyone! We’ve made it to my son’s house in Hampshire, where it’s a dull and damp day but no snow!
The wedding was fabulous. A very traditional church service, with wonderful music and choir. We then moved onto a nearby ancient building for a champagne reception, followed by an exquisite meal. There was a live band and dancing later on, with a hot chocolate & cookies stall for those who still had space in their tummies (me
). It was all top notch, beautifully done.
We all had a fabulous time though I think my son-in-law in his kilt may have upstaged the bridal couple, because all the old ladies were flocking around him and insisted on having their photos taken together. It wasn’t confined to the wedding, either - total strangers in the street also wanted their pics with him! 😂
My glittery nails were the object of admiration from the young folks there and my velvet outfit, too. The official photographer also kept taking photo of Dh and me all day. It’s taken almost 70 years but it seems that finally I am photogenic.
We’ve now all wended our ways home/to work/other destinations with some wonderful memories.
Thank you for indulging me, if you’ve read to the end of this. ❤️❤️❤️
Thank you for your lovely card Urms it’s really cute
Your motorhome sounds very exciting neine hope you have lots of happy adventures
Hope the gas man turns up soon grannmarie, I’m really looking forward to our meet up on Wednesday too
I’ve really got to get organised though when I get home, I’ve still got quite a lot to sort out for Christmas rather than all this gadding about!
Good morning, Soop and lovely Kitchen people!
Just a quick hello 👋 to everyone in this cosy, comfy Kitchen. I'm out of my routine today as I'm waiting in for the Gas man coming back to repair my boiler. I've stripped the bed and loaded the dishwasher, now to continue Christmas cleaning/ decorating. Yesterday DH wrapped up all the presents we have so far, and I compiled lists of what we still need...
I'm very much looking forward to meeting up with the Glesca Grans on Wednesday, it'll be lovely to see everyone, especially our very own Grandmabatty, Brook and Baggs!!!
Lovely to see you Niene, safe journey to London and have a wonderful birthday with DOH and your gorgeous dogs in the Motor Home, how exciting!
Safe journey home to Brook and all on the roads, take care in this icy weather.
Wishing everyone a good week ahead, especially those with worries, illness or sorrow. 🥰
I am very aware that my last 2 posts have been very much...me..based. Blurting out the happy and the sad as they happened is my only excuse. I do read all your posts ( sometimes it's taken me hours to catch up) but you are all so important to me. Can you imagine what it would be like if we were all able to meet up?
A day wouldn't be enough methinks.
Urms...precious times with your loved ones and memories being made...I hope it long continues. I loved the Christmas card...Ddog1 would have buried himself under one of those blankets...Ddog2 would try and do something very irreligious to one of the shepherds ..Ddog3 (size of a small pony) would try to curl up in the crib and as for the puppy..he would have shredded everything.
SueD ..The celebrations sounded wonderful and just what you deserved after the worry of this past year.
Grandmabatty...I think you have more hours in your day than me.. all that and snow too. I did used to be very organised when I had the students and was working full time too but it seems to have slipped a bit ( well more than a bit actually)
AnnS... That's a shame about your meal...can you write a review? I don't like being in that situation but I will bring it to the managements attention either at the time or as soon as possible afterwards.
Soop...I do hope Mr Soops head is healing now and that maybe a glimmer of hope may come your way in the New Year re the hernia. Your Christmas plans sound just wonderful...at the end of the day..the cards..the presents...the food are all lovely...but it's the people we share our day with that mean the very most.
Jax... I'm a bit like you too...can find all sorts of excuses not to venture out in the cold and wet. I really don't like this time of year...you are supposed to love the season you are born in...I most definitely do not.
Yia... I'm hoping that your DS might be turning a corner. I will continue to pray for him as I do for all of you.
Corner...I hope you are both negative now and getting your strength back daily.
I dare not scroll back to the previous page as I will lose this post so big apologies if I've missed people...
I'm working in London this week.. travelling up on Wednesday by coach and then DOH is driving up on Friday to bring me home in time for my birthday on Saturday. No birthday breakfast in bed as we are picking up our Motor Home at 9.30am... He is beside himself with excitement which is just lovely to see. Watch this space for the unfolding adventures of 3 dogs..a ditsy blonde and a wannabe Lewis Hamilton...what can possibly go wrong!!!!!!
‘Evening All’.
Home and snugly after a 7-people family meal at a local curry house. L’il Miss (6) showing off to grandpa (91) the new sweater dress she was wearing, with side zips (so proud of being trendy!) and ‘sparkles’ (sequins) warmed the cockles. Such gatherings are precious aren’t they?
I’ve written my Christmas cards today and Himself popped them all in the postbox this afternoon. Job done. 2 dozen in all, winging their way now to family and friends.
Here’s mine to you all dear kitcheners,
.... with Season’s Greetings.
x
Grandmabatty I am in awe of the energy you have- I am bone idle although my dishwasher and washing machine have been working to full capacity today. I have lovely clean bedding and I will look forward to that after my annual shower.
soop I hope that Sweetie Pie is okay because 2 months is a long time, especially in this cold weather not to come looking for a lovely meal. I suppose we will never know.
ann not good paying so much for a mediocre meal which was served badly. You may have to travel further afield.
TOYA
We’ve been out to lunch with friends, nearly three hours catching up, glorious, then to the pub for meat draw, no luck.
Temperature rose overnight, now it’s about 7, rain most of the day, similar for the week ahead. I’ve been remiss on my walks in the cold, I’ll do better this week.
Enjoy your evening all.
Good afternoon kitchen pals, we’re just back from a delicious Sunday roast at a local restaurant to celebrate DD1s birthday. It’s slightly warmer here today but wet - even do we still went out for a walk to Wimpole, a local NT property. We all got drenched but it was still enjoyable
I’m with you soop a quiet Christmas together with your DH sounds lovely, and a family get together to look forward to in the spring
Take care all and have a lovely evening
Good evening Kitcheners. It hasn't risen above freezing all day here. I cleared the path, front and back and put salt down. Then I cleared all the snow from the car, ready for childcare tomorrow. I walked to Aldi for some bits and pieces. Then emptied and loaded the dishwasher. I did the ironing and put clothes away. I've also written Christmas cards. Dinner is cooking, chicken in gravy and potatoes with broccoli and greens. Then cheese and crackers instead of pudding. I'm as organised as I can be tonight. Stay warm and safe all.
For those of our Kitcheners in need of TLC...I am sending each of you a virtual hug and warmest good wishes.
For those Kitcheners who are partying and having themselves a right royal knees-up...I wish to say, continue to enjoy and share whatever experiences brighten your day.
It remains chilly. There hasn't been snow, although the mountain tops are white-capped.
I've been transferring funds to enable our grown-up family to purchase gifts for the great grandchildren. If I could have one gift, it would be to spend an afternoon in the company of all the excited wee ones. We shall speak on the phone. And, of course, we will have a family gathering in the springtime to look forward to.
We have made it known that we do not wish to receive gifts. For we two, having a cosy fire, a few wee treats and each other's company is the kind of celebration we are happy to share. I wish that it was possible to make a real difference to the lives of countless people for whom this will be a sad and lonely time.
Goodnight and stay warm and safe.

Yay good for you SueD enjoy the celebrations!
We’ve had an enjoyable evening here looking after the DGSs whilst DD and Sil went out for a meal together. Tomorrow we’re going to help finish putting up all the decorations, it’s a big house and there’s lots of them!
A shame your meal was disappointing ann but good that you enjoyed being out with your friend.
Well done with such a successful Christmas fair grannysomerset you must be very pleased
Still parrrtaaaying! 🎉 🥳 🎈
