Good Morning Saturday 7th October 2023
(55 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
Dark and dry start here in brackley this morning.
If the forecast is right it looks like a hot one in terms of calling it a Indian Summer .
My usual trip to Bicester , mind people I often speak to whilst there have started to venture a bit on there bus passes , in there case with bus links doing a round robin , just for a change of scenery .
Take Care,
Mick
Welcome back Maw.
Good morning from Durham. Drying out after an evening and night of heavy rain. I hadn’t expected it and left some laundry on the line when I went out yesterday lunchtime, it’s sopping.
A nothing day today, but can’t say I’m sorry, as I’ve had a busy week. Possibly a coffee with a friend, but she’s got a tooth issue, so perhaps I should start on wardrobe clearing.
Best wishes to all for the weekend. X
Good morning everyone from a very wet and windy Inverness, definitely no Indian summer up here 🙁
Good to have you and Rosie back with us maw
I got both my flu and covid jabs yesterday, one in each arm and they both feel a bit sore but thankfully no other after effects. I’ve nothing much planned for today, I think gardening is off the agenda due to the weather so I’ll probably do some decluttering and sorting out clothes etc.
Have a great holiday Sago and everyone else out and about, safe travels all
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings 💐
Good morning from Shropshire where a sunny day is forecast.
Yesterday was hectic and then another rubbish nights sleep.Like Llfl I finish my antibiotics today so am hoping tomorrow I will be over the side effects and start to feel better.
We have no plans at all this weekend which suits me just fine.My to do list is long.I will make a start on things today.
I am worried about having the Covid vaccination too grandMattie.
Good to see you back Maw and Rosie.
Hoping Marydoll is feeling better and thoughts to all with illness and worries.
Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩
Good morning Mick and all from cloudy Lancashire where it is currently 15°C.
No side effects from the latest Covid vaccinations and I was able to get on with cleaning the bathrooms. I plan to finish those today if my back cooperates. My eyes have not yet woken up so I shall sign off for noe.
Have a good day all 🌻
Welcome.back RosiesMaw, glad you have had a change of heart; it just wasn't the same without you! You will know which garden centre I am going to - it's the one where we first met up.... Hope to see you again soon.
2nd attempt! Good morning all from dry breezy Harrogate no heatwave today, but hopefully get two washes outside on the line to dry! After helping DH with PC problems yesterday and trying to sort out one of my own, I couldn’t find the thread to post here! DH thinks I can still sort his PC, but it’s so different from Apple, which I use now and have solely used for nearly 7 years, I just don’t remember the workings of a PC.
I’d like to go into town today and get my Ecover washing up liquid refilled (and have a cuppa) I one of the many new coffee shops that have sprung up.
Soon that’s all there will be in Harrogate - coffee shops in and eateries!
Have the best day possible folks.
Good morning all from a greyish North Leicestershire.
Hi, Maw.
We have to go shopping today for Wolfie's 5th birthday!!!
Have the best day possible.
Good morning all from Tønsberg.
We had a seamless journey from near St Ives to Stansted, we were through security and checked in within 20 minutes of parking the car!
We arrived in Oslo at 4 and our son was there to meet us, we picked up a hire car and had a beautiful drive past Oslo City and into Tønsberg.
We are staying at a lovely air B&B in a residential part of the City.
This is Norways oldest City, we had dinner by the fjord last night.
Today we are hiking up to the fort and having a drive to Worlds End, I think a few museums and a Viking longboat or two will feature.
Our son is a massive rugby fan so I expect we will be in front of the TV for the games tonight, I enjoy it too but only the England and Ireland games!
I took the picture as we were coming in to land.
Have a good day all.
Good morning everyone from a Northampton which promises to sunny and warm, that suits me!
Had a lovely morning chatting with a friend over coffee in Sainsbury's yesterday; I decided to indulge in the 'Bitesize' breakfast, which was.yummy; sausage, egg, hash brown, and baked beans; I didn't need lunch after that!
Afterwards did my top-up shop, and also looked (unsuccessfully) for a pair of black jeans, to replace the 2 pairs that I had put in the charity pile on Thursday. If the waist fitted, the legs were too baggy; and if the legs were ok the waist was too small! However I did find some in a lovely burgundy shade in Next.....
Am visiting a large garden centre the other side of town today, as they have a large Pavers shoe department - my slippers are in desperate need of replacing, and have had two pairs from there already. Shall have a coffee and a good browse round; there is also a Waitrose next door......
Then home to read the Saturday papers and watch world cup rugby, there are three matches on tv today.
Have a good Saturday everyone.
Morning, high cloud in S Hants, due to warm up later. I was fine after both jabs in the past week, good luck gMattie.
Yesterday was window cleaner, a walk, grocery delivery then pub.
Today newspaper, walk and rugby this evening.
Safe journeys to those travelling.
Thoughts with those facing a mountain.

Good morning all from Polmont where it's currently 12° and wet. It looks like it's rained most of the night too. So no sitting out for me. RosiesMaw welcome back.
Yesterday was a nice lunch with old school friends, one of whom I haven't seen since school. We blethered for ages. Then home. Dd sent a message later that they had arrived at their holiday villa.
Today I'll go food shopping and do housework and washing and carry on knitting winter hats for the boys. I'll watch strictly tonight too. A quiet, domestic day. Have a good day all
Good morning from North Yorkshire. No Indian summer here. It’s mild but blowing a hoolie!
Up early to drive down to see the family. An overnight stay and hopefully get to see DGS play football.
Good to see you Maw
Have a good day everyone.
Morning all from West Oxfordshire. I was supposed to clean the house yesterday. I didn’t, but read instead! I will do it today and maybe bake a cake or two. OH has requested Barmbrack. I took the last of my antibiotics last night so hopefully my tummy will settle down now. The redness hasn’t quite gone away. We de-flea’d the cats last night, it lasts for three months and cost £45 each!
Have a good day everyone. OH will be glued to the rugby,
Thinking of those with difficulties - Urms, MaryD…
Good morning from the edge of the Cotswolds, it’s a dry start here and a love warm few days ahead hopefully!
More garden tidying today after the dog’s walk, she’ll come outside and supervise me no doubt 🐕
I will change the bed too, I love the smell of line-dried bed linen.
Not a lot happening otherwise which suits me fine!
Enjoy the sunshine 😊
Morning Mick, morning All from a dry corner of Somerset, sunny, warm day in the forecast
Managed to sort Mr C’s appointment yesterday and had a good chat with my fellow volunteer, we actually had little to do. Definitely need to find my enthusiasm mojo, it’s hiding somewhere, the afternoon drifted away with I don’t know what other than a chat with a neighbour.
Mr C would like to go further along the coast today to a quiet area. We may well find some lunch while we’re there.
Safe trip pittcity. Good luck with the vaccine mattie.
Hope Saturday is kind to us all.
Good morning from Colchester where the sun is yet to rise on a warm, dry day.
DH and I are off to Stansted soon and flying to Belfast where it's a few degrees cooler.
Love to all 🦩 x
Welcome back Maw and Rosie
Good morning all from an hotel in Leeds. I'm here for a church conference. The train journey down yesterday was delayed by an accident on a level crossing. I didn't hear what happened so hope no-one was hurt.
It's due to be warm and sunny here.
I hope you have no I'll effects from your vaccine gMattie . I was fine after mine, just a little tired with sore arms one night.
Enjoy the weekend everyone.
Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Still dark outside in South Yorkshire. I had my covid jab yesterday at a local pharmacy. No I’ll effects. Usually it’s in, jab and out, but yesterday the pharmacist insisted on taking my blood pressure, which was slightly raised. He said “Are you nervous about vaccinations?” I told him no, it was having to drive somewhere I’d never been before when I can usually walk to the vaccination centre! I then put the world to rights with a friend over coffee at a nearby local garden centre.
Today it’s food shopping, ironing and floor cleaning. Exciting stuff!
Have the best day you can folks.
Good morning all - yes it's me, rejoining necessitated a name change (and I really missed being Maw) but the same dog snuggled up beside me
I hope everybody's flu/covid jabs give them no problems I had both on Thursday and noticed nothing except that I could not keep my eyes open yesterday afternoon. Like dog, like human perhaps.
Today is wall to wall Rugby World Cup with all 4 home nations playing so I had better get Rosie out for a walk before it kicks off.
With kind thoughts to you all whatever your plans 😎
Good morning from the South Downs. A hot day is forecast.
Met my friend yesterday before lunch and we were still talking at 6.15 when I dropped her off at her sisters.
Had lunch in Steyning - my daughters village, and it was good seeing it through a visitors eyes. You suddenly appreciate the beauty of a place. I miss her friendship - we have been friends for so long separated by 6000 miles, but that link has never broken.
Today I must completely clear out the fridge, and possibly clean the oven, plus more bulb planting.
Chicken and mushroom risotto for later.
Peace and harmony all.
Good morning after a mild night in central Devon. Whilst making tea, I popped outside to see a beautifully clear sky with a bright moon and a plethora of stars.
This morning I’m joining a meeting by Zoom for the alumni from my school in Dorking, Surrey. It's the AGM and it's the school which both olddudders and I attended in the Sixties before it became a comprehensive.
I hope your arm doesn’t stop you enjoying the craft fair, karmalady and your usual bus trip, Mick goes well. My flu jab last Saturday resulted in no after effects, grandMattie, apart from a slightly sore arm the next day. I'm apprehensive about my fifth Covid one, due on Monday as I was unwell the day after both the third and fourth ones. What an unexpectedly busy but happy day you had, Mizuna!
Happy weekend, everyone! 🦩🥰🦩💐🦩
Good morning from a dark Cornwall. Sunny day later. Sudden call yesterday to babysit two youngest grandchildren in another town while my son went to a hospital appointment. The road by their bus stop was coated in conkers from a giant tree. Ended up with four children, as friends came in to play (plus two rabbits loose in the house). Lovely kids, all of them, such a pleasure. Wore my denim skirt newly made from jeans yesterday, so comfy.
Today coffee with a friend overlooking the harbour, then home for more sewing, then early supper at Wetherspoon's with my other son and eldest grandson. Another Friday gone so it's seven weeks and six days until my knee replacement and the renewal of life without crutches, yay!!!
