Waylaid in the garden

My OH often leaves the teapot in the garden after emptying the tealeaves on the roses.

You and me both !
In the garden you can call it pottering and it's OK .
Yesterday , I cut my lavender hedge . But chronic backache drove me indoors .

In the house , I often start a project and then think isn't that fantastic programme on and I need a cup of tea in order to watch it .

On Friday , I began sorting out some boxes - actually seeing if I have enough Christmas cards .
And there are on top of a box and nothing put away .

If you’re enjoying it, don’t worry. Each of those jobs would have needed doing at some point.
If it’s really irritating you, make a list and stick to it. If you see something else that needs doing whilst you’re completing one task, put it on your list. Tick off and reward yourself-even if it’s with a bit more pottering in the garden.
I find it helps with housework, but I’ve never rewarded myself by doing more.

Going from one thing to another can mean you’re not stuck in one position for too long. When I do become obsessed with one job, like weeding, I usually end up bent over for the next couple of hours because my back won’t straighten up 😕

A friend has given me the answer which I will try.

Only allow yourself one tool. So just secateurs and only do clipping. Just the broom and only do sweeping.

Will try this tomorrow. I am sure Monty Don doesn't get distracted. Where is he when you need him!

I go out just to check the greenhouse - two hours later I remember the cup of tea in the house!
Gardens are the best distraction in the world.

Well, she’s clearly more tech savvy than me, but she doesn’t know how to put it right. Nor me! Sorry for that. 😵‍💫

Me too! I can always be distracted on my way to the ironing …

I took the rubbish out earlier, then spotted some fallen leaves. Raked those and binned, then picked up the last of the windfall pears from the lawn.
Roses dropping petals, so secateurs out and dead headed the lot.
Out for over an hour - I’m easily distracted.

It’s not just gardening! I do the same thing in the house! At the end of the day I usually find that I haven’t done the one thing that I set out to do in the first place! 😃😆
