I regularly buy plants from the reduced table. Mostly they just need a good watering and the dead bits pulled off.
I was in our local diy store earlier this year and there were loads of geraniums on the reduced table with not a thing wrong with them. I mentioned this to one of the staff and she said that they had too much stock and that's why they were selling them off cheap. Seemed bonkers to me but I did end up with more plants than I originally planned.
