Transgender Dylan Mulvaney has won woman of the year 🤣🤣 you couldn’t make it up. Not one woman was worth the win. What do you think šŸ¤”

I accept the criticism of the term mistresses, but I was making the point that even men who might use the term would wish women to have safe places.

It made me laugh because I thought it was tongue-in-cheek. 😁

And anyone who doesn't think many men and women indulge in extra-marital affairs needs to have a bit of a rethink.

Who organises this award? Presumably they are a bit hard of thinking, at the very least!

Is it Kier Starmer? Just remember he cannot answer the question 'what is a woman' and says that only 99% of women do not have a penis. This is the man most on here seem to be wanting for PM.

Yep - frightening isn't it ?

male obviously!!!

He only started his "journey" in early 2022 and achieved woman of the year in October 23! Think of all the "real" woman who will have done far more in that time (and a lot longer) who are far more deserving of an award. Really makes you wonder if the award is worth having?

I think it is a bit harsh coming down on grumppa for using the word mistress he was only trying to get the point across in a more general way. I too prefer the word mistress to some of the other terminology and if you look at the definition of the word there is also this:
"a woman in a position of authority or control". Just like the word gay which once upon a time had a totally different meaning.

We have just all got to accept, that even a grifter like Dylan is better at being a woman than any of us.

Bellanonna Fri 13-Oct-23 09:49:18

It must be significant that he won the award from an LBGTQ magazine though.
And Grumppa, I agree with your sentiments. So what if ā€œmistressā€ is outdated. It’s succinct and better than some alternatives.

Iam64 Fri 13-Oct-23 09:35:41

grumpa - I dislike ā€˜mistress’, the term and all it stands for. Thanks for posting here šŸŒž

I keep wondering whether all those who want to be thought of as a cat, are still going around being, um, cats!
How do they earn their income?! etc.

harrigran Fri 13-Oct-23 09:29:09

Got to agree, utter b*****ks.

Galaxy Fri 13-Oct-23 09:23:20

I think we differ slightly on this point smileless. It makes no difference to me what men do or dont do to their bodies. A woman is not a man with his penis removed.

Smileless2012 Fri 13-Oct-23 09:19:19

Your point was well made grumppa and good to see.

It may have been marginally better if this award had been presented to a fully transitioned trans woman. Still not a woman and never will be but much better than a man complete with his genitalia being given the award.

As a women I find the term mistress more palatable than the term ^bit on the side^

I'm not offended by the terminology - just surprised it's still in use.

If I am offended by anything, it's what it represents. Mistress is a throwback to a bygone era when it was accepted that men would have both wife and mistress. I think the institution of marriage has changed a bit since then.

Of course, "mistress" is more polite than "a bit on the side" ... a nicer way of saying the same thing. I can't imagine many young people using the phrase, or even tolerating the concept!

BlueBelle Fri 13-Oct-23 09:09:51

I got what you meant grumpa
I ve never heard of this Dylan man but that’s what he is A MAN
so he cannot win a title of ā€˜woman of the year’ however much the need to want is
Absolutely ridiculous and makes me very angry and doesn’t do the world of trans any good at all I wouldn’t think

NanKate Fri 13-Oct-23 08:38:20

I could weep at yet another trans person taking an award away from a natal woman.

Trying not to bore you all with my constant mentioning of how the WI are welcome transwomen into our Institutes. I was astounded to get a reply from the National WI to one of my emails telling me they accept transwomen who have not completely transitioned and in their opinion they are WOMEN! If you have a penis you are not a woman, end of!

Yes you were.

I cant decide whether to get on my high horse.
If a person means well, but upsets a minority, that is ok.
Yet those who are offended, nowadays they may take umbridge.
Another thing to have gone back to front.
Quite apt to say this on this thread.

Once again natal women are being erased. angry

GrannyGravy13 Fri 13-Oct-23 07:47:35

VioletSky

So she was named woman of the year by an LGBTQ+ magazine created and read by people who accept trans women as women...

Perfectly logical

Good for her, she must be so happy

A women does not have a penis and testicles, like I said up thread it’s literally b***ocks

Galaxy Fri 13-Oct-23 07:29:00

Well in MN it's most certainly 'the other woman'. Or phrases that arent as pleasant.

Dickens Fri 13-Oct-23 01:57:38

Do people still use the description "mistress" anymore?

Apart from the concept, the very terminology is dated.

And, if you have "wives, fiancƩes, girl friends", it's hardly supportive of women to have a mistress also. It's simply being unfaithful - cheating in other words.

VioletSky Thu 12-Oct-23 22:44:25

"mistresses even"

Not much respect for wives or daughters there

grumppa Thu 12-Oct-23 22:09:39

As a straight male, may I just say that awards like this may have the effect of tipping this whole debate deeper into the farce which it has become?

Virulent (I use the word advisedly) trans men are an embarrassment not only to calm and rational trans men, but to the army of men who fully understand and support the need for safe spaces for women. We have daughters, nieces, wives, fiancƩes, girl friends, mistresses even, and we want them to be safe.
