..... I am writing the pub quiz for the end of the month and I have devised this round. I want to try and get some feedback as to whether it is too difficult - it will be a table round. These are synonyms of the words of well-known songs and you need to identify the songs. All feedback gratefully received! It's quite long!

Crazy Songs
1. Allow me to escort you on a descent
Since I intend to travel to fruit meadows
Zilch is true
Zilch to be anxious over
Fruit meadows in perpetuity.

2. You are beneath my my epidermis
You are well below my cardiac area
So well below my cardiac area that you are a personal portion
You are beneath my epidermis

3. However, everything is fine at this moment, actually it’s flatulence
However, everything is fine; I am Leaping John Expose
It’s flatulence, flatulence, flatulence.
Leaping John Expose, it’s flatulence …… [repeat!]

4. (1997 version)
Farewell to Albion’s flower
May you always enlarge in our cardiac areas
You were the goodwill that self-seeded
In regions where living had exploded
You cried to our nation
And spoke softly to those suffering anguish
Now you reside in Paradise
And the asterisks transcribe your moniker
[chorus]………. I am of the opinion that you existed as a taper, subject to gusts
Always unaware whom to grab
When in a new shower.

5. Territory of desire and splendour
Female parent of those liberated
How shall those of us who popped out of your womb
Tell you how great you are?
More extensive and more extensive
Will the edges be defined
Allah who created your strength
Make you even stronger.

6. I am imagining a pale Midwinter
In keeping with those of my past
With arboreal shimmering, and infantile attention to
Chariot chimes in the blizzard.

7. I adore her vibrant raiments
And the fashion in which rays sport in her tresses
I pick up the noise of soft speaking
In the gusts that elevate her scent via the atmosphere
I am hearing splendid oscillations ……….

8. Were I to remain, I would be an encumbrance
So I will leave but comprehend that
I will dwell on you at each pace on the road.
And I will hold you in permanent affection
I will hold you in permanent affection, my beloved.

9. [chorus]
What are your emotions? What are your emotions?
Being with no dwelling
Like a total nameless person
Like a wheeling pebble?

10. Alright, following the departure of my infant
I have discovered a new place to live
It’s at the lower extremity of Solitary Road
At Grief Guesthouse
Where I will be so unaccompanied, I’ll be so unaccompanied, infant
Alright, I’m so unaccompanied
I’ll be so unaccompanied, I might depart this life.

Good vibrations has just come up as an answer to a new round question on House of Games ....coincidence 🤣

Luckygirl3 Tue 17-Oct-23 18:33:26

Doodledog Tue 17-Oct-23 19:44:48

Ooh, I might steal these for our family Christmas quiz, if that's ok Luckygirl?

Oreo Tue 17-Oct-23 21:09:57

Luckygirl3

Oreo - no Blowin' in the Wind.

Thought it may explain all the flatulence😂

Doodledog Tue 17-Oct-23 21:34:35

Callistemon21 Tue 17-Oct-23 21:52:52

Luckygirl3 Tue 17-Oct-23 22:08:24

Well done!!

Grandma70s Tue 17-Oct-23 22:20:36

I can do most of them. Where I can’t, it’s probably because I don’t know the song. I’m not very good on that type of song.

crazyH Tue 17-Oct-23 22:37:23

No 2 - you’ve got me under your skin. ?

Ashcombe Tue 17-Oct-23 22:44:05

These are very clever, Luckygirl13! I'm sure your quizzers will enjoy them, especially if they watch Richard Osman's House of Games. Thank you for sharing them with us.

Very good quiz, well balanced, got them all except the last one. It’ll keep me awake tonight if I don’t find it !!

I have got them all!
However I am a quizzer and also write questions like this. You have to make them reasonably difficult or the bright ones will zip through them.

Jaxie Thu 19-Oct-23 11:59:18

The questions don’t interest me at all, sorry.

BeeBeeRed Thu 19-Oct-23 12:10:54

Some jump out at you, others I’d have to think. It’s a good round for a group to work on though!

granfromafar Thu 19-Oct-23 12:43:51

I do a fair few quizzes and think these are good questions but the teams would need a while to ponder over them. Maybe as a table round to last up to half time? Similar to rounds in House of Games nut a good idea. It's always hard trying to pitch questions that aren't too hard or easy!

Doodledog Thu 19-Oct-23 12:44:47

My lot will love it! I will add a few more recent ones for the benefit of the younger Dogs, and that’s my round for the traditional after-dinner quiz. We try to keep it not too serious, and provide a round each. Mine are often stolen from online, or based on TV quizzes such as Only Connect.

JdotJ Thu 19-Oct-23 13:14:09

Needs to be an interval quiz round as needs good time to think from the whole table.

Spec1alk Thu 19-Oct-23 13:18:35

Once I was given the first one I tuned in and got the others. Perhaps your quiz can start with the clue and the answer ‘ strawberry fields’ to give your audience confidence?

lizzypopbottle Thu 19-Oct-23 14:09:47

I got six of them by myself (numbers 2, 3, 4, 5, 8 and 10) After much head scratching, face pulling and Rodin's Thinker poses, I got number 7. My son, who is 40 knew numbers 1 and 9 instantly and worked out number 6. We thought that a team of middle aged quizzes would do OK but younger ones might struggle.

MadeInYorkshire Thu 19-Oct-23 14:16:47

None of them obvious to me!
