Great! Hard enough to be a challenge but not impossible.

lixy Tue 17-Oct-23 13:52:42

These are fun! Took a bit of thought, and still can't get no 10. it's going to bug me now!

Callistemon21 Tue 17-Oct-23 13:43:19

I hope no-one who is going to do the quiz is on Gransnet!

MerylStreep Tue 17-Oct-23 13:42:50

They’re certainly harder than the ones Richards team compile.

Ilovecheese Tue 17-Oct-23 13:42:05

I have got no.2 and no.9 I think. No. 8 I feel I should know, will have to keep racking my brains. ( possibly Dolly?)

Callistemon21 Tue 17-Oct-23 13:41:56

Got them as far as the flatulence one, not too difficult so far except it made think of fart and I can't think of a song with that in the words sorry!

Just going out now so I'll have a puzzle later 🎶🎵🎵🎶

Yes an excellent balance Lucky.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 17-Oct-23 13:36:50

Thanks Lucky.

No 1 is Strawberry Fields by the Beatles.

Let me take you down to Strawberry Fields …
Nothing is real, nothing to be worried about …
Strawberry Fields forever.

Geddit?

Yes, do GSM - maybe number one, which I am sure was the easiest.

And yes I have been watching Richard Osman - as soon as I saw that round on TV I shot off to write one of my own!

I am pleased that some were easy and some not so - that is a good balance I hope.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Oct-23 13:27:09

Brilliant, I got half, now need to do more thinking.

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 17-Oct-23 13:26:43

Perhaps Lucky would allow me to give a couple of answers to help those who don’t understand what it’s about? I wouldn’t do that without her permission.

It rather hinges on knowing what a synonym is.

Pittcity Tue 17-Oct-23 13:25:57

Some easy and some I can't get yet....the ideal spread for a quiz.

Have you been watching Richard Osman by any chance?

midgey Tue 17-Oct-23 13:25:11

Oh I like the wheeling pebble!

baubles Tue 17-Oct-23 13:23:37

Got most of them, the others I’d need to think about a bit longer.

TwiceAsNice Tue 17-Oct-23 13:23:26

Sorry wouldn’t be able to make any sense of it at all

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 17-Oct-23 13:17:45

Definitely not too difficult.

B9exchange Tue 17-Oct-23 13:16:21

Wouldn't have a clue about any of them!

Luckygirl3 Tue 17-Oct-23 13:11:28

..... I am writing the pub quiz for the end of the month and I have devised this round. I want to try and get some feedback as to whether it is too difficult - it will be a table round. These are synonyms of the words of well-known songs and you need to identify the songs. All feedback gratefully received! It's quite long!

Crazy Songs
1. Allow me to escort you on a descent
Since I intend to travel to fruit meadows
Zilch is true
Zilch to be anxious over
Fruit meadows in perpetuity.

2. You are beneath my my epidermis
You are well below my cardiac area
So well below my cardiac area that you are a personal portion
You are beneath my epidermis

3. However, everything is fine at this moment, actually it’s flatulence
However, everything is fine; I am Leaping John Expose
It’s flatulence, flatulence, flatulence.
Leaping John Expose, it’s flatulence …… [repeat!]

4. (1997 version)
Farewell to Albion’s flower
May you always enlarge in our cardiac areas
You were the goodwill that self-seeded
In regions where living had exploded
You cried to our nation
And spoke softly to those suffering anguish
Now you reside in Paradise
And the asterisks transcribe your moniker
[chorus]………. I am of the opinion that you existed as a taper, subject to gusts
Always unaware whom to grab
When in a new shower.

5. Territory of desire and splendour
Female parent of those liberated
How shall those of us who popped out of your womb
Tell you how great you are?
More extensive and more extensive
Will the edges be defined
Allah who created your strength
Make you even stronger.

6. I am imagining a pale Midwinter
In keeping with those of my past
With arboreal shimmering, and infantile attention to
Chariot chimes in the blizzard.

7. I adore her vibrant raiments
And the fashion in which rays sport in her tresses
I pick up the noise of soft speaking
In the gusts that elevate her scent via the atmosphere
I am hearing splendid oscillations ……….

8. Were I to remain, I would be an encumbrance
So I will leave but comprehend that
I will dwell on you at each pace on the road.
And I will hold you in permanent affection
I will hold you in permanent affection, my beloved.

9. [chorus]
What are your emotions? What are your emotions?
Being with no dwelling
Like a total nameless person
Like a wheeling pebble?

10. Alright, following the departure of my infant
I have discovered a new place to live
It’s at the lower extremity of Solitary Road
At Grief Guesthouse
Where I will be so unaccompanied, I’ll be so unaccompanied, infant
Alright, I’m so unaccompanied
I’ll be so unaccompanied, I might depart this life.
