Good Morning Everyone,
Its dark, and appears to have rained in the night here in brackley.
Autumn seems to be slowly happening locally with trees and others yet to shed there leaves .
Went out on the bus yesterday ,and supermarket wise seemed very quite as to customers , mind you Bicester town centre has seen numerous store closures including Banks .
Although a bus pass holder < i go into Bicester on a service which starts before 0930 Monday to Friday bus start , mind you as to this adjoining counties have a 0900 start .
Take Care,
Mick

What lovely news to read baubles you must both be so relieved.

Good morning from a damp W Kent. A small shop required today, see how bad back feels, otherwise quiet here. Staying in close touch with DD1 and family in Perth, she has said they are just starting in the two workers are working from home.
Ash prayers for the little family
Best wishes to all

Good morning from a dark, damp Colchester. DH has just popped out for a blood test. No other plans today other than laundry and a supermarket shop.
Sending hugs to all especially those with illness and worry.
Love to all 🦩 x

Good morning from a wet and windy NE.
Didn't put the wheelie bin out last night, would have made for noisy night as it is not that full.
Today is the second anniversary of death of DH. I am going out to lunch with DS and GD2.
A very sad time Ashcombe, thoughts are with the family especially the young DD.
Stay safe and warm today if you are living in the storm path.

Good morning from North Yorkshire. Dark and very windy with heavy rain expected later.
I’ll use today to catch up on the admin after the AGM. I have a friend calling later for me to look over his tax return. Harvest supper this evening.
Thinking of all the poorlies.
Have a good day everyone.

Susan56 Fri 20-Oct-23 08:23:16

Good morning from Shropshire. It’s still raining.

Yesterday was a quiet day catching up with admin and reading.Today more of the same until school pick up time when we will be bringing the children back here for the weekend.

Thank you for your supportive comments yesterday regarding the mistakes made with my medication.I am still feeling upset and a bit rubbish but also grateful the mistake has been rectified.

Grandmabatty what a rollercoaster you are on with your mum but glad she was enjoying her caramel wafer. Its all so difficult for her and you💐Enjoy a quieter day today.

Oops I really hope you can get your medication sorted and Marydoll I hope today is a better day for you.

Harrigran 💐

Thinking of all with sadness, illness and worries to deal with💐

Have the best day you can everyone🌺🦩

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. We had rain of biblical proportions during the night which woke me but it seems just to be spitting now with everywhere dripping. We have to go out today for two separate appointments so I’m glad we’re in with a chance of a lull.

Photos in the newspapers this morning show how much damage Storm Babet has wreaked in some parts of the country. We’ve got off very lightly here.

Kalu Fri 20-Oct-23 08:29:59

Good morning all from Glasgow. Wet and windy again today which is bad enough but not as bad as the east who are suffering a lot more.

I was lucky yesterday to hit a dry spell as I did a Waitrose visit, that done it was straight home to batten down the hatches and coory doon with pastries and coffee.

Unusual goings on I have noticed, Waitrose are selling bunches of tulips and we have 5 white Iris blossoming in the garden….in October??

Wonderful news baubles

Hopefully a pleasant day/better day is ahead for all, especially for those with so many mountains to climb.

Good morning from a very wet Sefton coast as Gala attests. If anyone’s interested, yesterday’s “Ramblings” with Clare Balding is centred upon our corner of the country.
I well remember that poor, poor woman Ashcombe and often think of her husband and young child. It’s an immense tragedy.
Your thoughts about the shingles jab echo mine glammagran: a month ago I was refused.
DGdog - retriever - is now one year old. Her photo, with party hat, bandanna, banner and balloons, was circulated on the family WhatsApp yesterday. Barking mad. Her “cousin”, a pocket-sized apricot cockapoo, will live with us from Sunday. Our DGC believe next week will be the usual…
Not keen to write this for the third time due to page reloading, I’ll speedily post. I’ve not read the whole thread, and hope the weather hasn’t been too awful for our members. Thoughts to those who are poorly and to those for whom life could be fairer. Take care and have the best day possible.

hollysteers Fri 20-Oct-23 08:37:36

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest coast.
Satisfying meeting with consultant yesterday re hernia, will have a scan and then decisions will be made. She thought it was not connected to my stomach upsets, probably the IBS I was diagnosed with, or what I call my nervous stomach.

A bad night for me so not looking forward to art this morning, something with pebbles and water? Off to play tonight so will have a hap this afternoon.

So utterly tragic Ashcombe, what a sad situation.
baubles 💐 and thoughts to harrigran today and all with worries.

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. The trees are bending here this morning and there’s no let up in the rain, which woke me up at 5.15 hammering to cone in! Yesterday I went over and had a light salady lunch with DD and a couple of hours putting the world to rights and I was supposed to be calling in on my niece on the way home, but started to feel ill in the car so I cried off and came straight home, made a ginger tea to settle my stomach and went to bed. In the evening I was fine, but skipped my evening meal. Just before I went to bed, GS sent me a six page history essay he had written and asked if I would read it. It made a change from Wolf Hall, my current bedtime reading and coincidentally it’s about Henry VIII’s dad. He asked if I could “tidy it up” so that will be one of my wet weather tasks today. Other than needing “tidying up” (it’s a bit rambling) it’s good.
Gas engineer is here giving the boiler its first service.
Ash, what a very sad situation. As you say, no words.
Hope it’s dry for some of you! Have the best day you can.

EkwaNimitee Fri 20-Oct-23 08:48:51

Good morning Mick and everyone from grey, rather windy Carlisle. I used to endure these autumnal gales living down on the west coast and don't wish them on anybody.

Yesterday I did go to the U3A talk which was an interesting one by a gent who had led a very full life and turned author and speaker in later life. One book will become a TV drama next year so I shall be looking out for it.

Today, I have some serious admin to contend with and suspect it will involve lengthy form-filling. Then maybe some baking or possibly start the book bought from yesterday's author. What it won't be, is a gardening day.

Good luck with getting those meds sorted Oops, poor service from your surgery.

Best wishes for your DH's swift recovery Baubles, what a relief for you both.

And I hope you and all other poorlies are feeling better today Marydoll. What a horrible complaint that sounds.

Have a good day everyone and I hope none of you are suffering too badly from the storm.

ginny Fri 20-Oct-23 08:50:17

Good morning. Rain all night here in N. Bucks. Luckily though as usual we seem to miss the worst of storms and other bad weather.
Pleased to hear good news from*Baubles*.
Sorry to hear some of you and grinr family members are still feeling so poorly.
Not much planned for today but I fancy doing some baking, maybe a ginger cake or May mix up the Christmas cake. Perhaps some crafting too.
Wishing you all a smile in your day.

Nannagarra Fri 20-Oct-23 08:58:27

What a relief and such good news baubles.

No workmen today so a bit of a lie in has been welcome. Need to tackle supermarket as am without bread and nearly out of milk and fresh fruit. Made 10 lbs of mincemeat yesterday so that’s a job which won’t need doing for a couple of years. Just need to organise shelf space in the garage for it.

Glad to read Baubles’ good news and also Cornergran’s, thoughts with all those enduring the storm and its aftermath, and hope we all have a good enough day.

Good morning from a dark miserable Co Armagh
It’s lovely to see good news 💐
And heartbreaking news from others 🕯️🙏🏼
My visitors are gone , it’s too quiet here now , but my friend is calling for me soon to go to Art Class
I fell asleep yesterday , so it was late to bed , I’m still a bit dazed !
Very best wishes to all 💐💐

Good morning all - that’s lovely news Baubles -and breathe!
Now I don’t want anybody getting jealous but my activities for today centre round tidying out the cupboard under the sink. (Pause for effect)
Rosie decided to try to carry her breakfast dish out of the utility room (she does this sometimes, takes it to her bed. Bonkers!) and dropped most of the contents on the floor. Hunting for a dustpan and brush I realised my cupboards are a disaster area so that will be me this morning.
I have a proven theory that the number of cleaning products one possesses says more about good intentions than good practice especially where there are several duplicates for the same task, mostly unopened.
So eat your heart out declutterers I may need a lie down afterwards.
With thought especially for Scottish grans on the East coast, may I wish you and us all a peaceful day.

I am not meeting my friend today as she has cancelled due to her garden being flooded and worried it may come in the house! She lives in a village in Shropshire and has never known it so bad!

Good morning Mick and all from windy Lancashire, currently 13°C and raining heavily. I’m hoping my Aberdeen family are safe, will contact them later.

I managed to get on with the laundry yesterday as planned and MrB collected my prescription. He has an appointment with the optician at 10am, the frames he wanted are now in stock so he needs to try them on. I think it will be a quiet day in other than that as it’s not fit to go out. The heating is off as it’s warmer again and my big nightie is back in the cupboard.

That sounds like a good plan for today Grandmabatty after 4 days of childcare.

Congratulations to your granddaughter Cornergran and well done MrC.

That’s wonderful news Baubles, hope your DH continues to improve.

I missed out on a trip to the pharmacy yesterday Marydoll. I usually take the opportunity to nip into the nearby shop but MrB said I’m not yet fit enough. He’s right really.

hollysteers I have had a miserable few months with the hernia playing up. A fellow Gransnetter told me about some simple exercises to do twice a day and I am now on day 4 of no GERD attacks or stomach pain. I will DM you if you’d like details.

It doesn’t seem like 2 years harrigran flowers

As always my thoughts are with those dealing with troubles, may today bring some comfort.

Good morning everyone from a very wet Northampton, and more to come during the day. Glad I decided to do my weekly top-up shop yesterday. Met a new member of our walking group at the bus-stop on the way home, so had a pleasant journey chatting.

Dance classes were very focused yesterday, and full-on; I felt quite out of breath after 30 minutes of tap, so was quite pleased to have some gentle slower ballet. I love the Barre exercises. No classes next week as it's half-term, but a few of us have decided to meet for coffee instead.

No plans for today really, except to get a chicken curry in the slow cooker. I also need to open-freeze and then bag the sausages I bought yesterday; there's no way I can eat 1lb in a week! Thought I might make the mince pies for Christmas, but might leave that until a weekend when I am looking for something to do.

Going back now to read all your doings; hope today turns out well for us.
