Just spent 5 minutes looking for my glasses... turns out they were on my head 🤣😳 Husband was thinking of ringing the nearest care home to see if they had a space for me 🤣🤣🤣

Solution: I wear a pinny every day, it has a big pocket on the front, all the 'stuff' I need goes into the pocket.

Midgey I've done the same!

Well, it's an age thing.....but yesterday my 2 year old grand-daughter said 'Where's my tiger?' (soft toy) - and she was carrying it! along with other things.

Love to read all these as makes me realize how we are nearly all in the same boat, if of a similar age. smile Phone and glasses - me too - haven't got a home phone so if I lose my mobile I have to pm my daughter on Facebook to ring it for me. smile smile

In the good old days when I was a busy secretary and smoked, I was on the phone to a client when I realised the cigarette I was smoking was not in the ashtray. Panicked, opened the file I was using to check I had not "filed it", only to find the offending fiery object was in the hand holding the phone!
Cannot begin to relate what I do with phones, glasses(2 pairs), hearing aids, etc now that I am in my eighties. Haven't lost the car yet!

I keep my phone safely down my bra, always.

I have my prescription reading glasses. Also two pairs from my last prescription. And a pair of prescription glasses for the desktop computer which I use a lot, they stay at the computer....in theory.
I also bought several pairs of cheap reading glasses - a pair in the bathroom, a pair at the bedside, a pair in the kitchen, a pair in the garage, a pair in the car. Why is there never a pair to hand? Try my dressing gown pocket or two pairs in my handbag, on the landing table, set down in a spare bedroom.

Loose my glasses all the time but I won’t use buy a cord for them that goes round my neck

So glad it isn't just me. I have lost one pair of glasses that I wear indoors, been missing for weeks now along with a small basket of clothes pegs ! I have given up searching, I think they have gone to that black hole where all the odd socks and teaspoons go.

As for phone its frequently ringing from somewhere where im not near to it..Oh if you need a new phone get one of the newest Samsung ones- waterproof to about 300 metres i think.😁

25Avalon- thats what me& my youngest Daughter call needing "looking for my glasses glasses"😂🤓🤓-do lose them a lot, did it other day, they were on top of my head, usually are.Lost them couple of weeks ago, they were hidden among bed covers as i'd been packing to move.Had trouble seeing them as im so short-sighted🤣

to rosie1959 and ExDancer.... My hubbie fell into river face down (well he was fishing in middle of river at the time) . His mobile was in a front pocket and was as wet as the rest of himself. We dried it in a bagfull of rice overnight and it was fine. Don't know if it works everytime but it certainly did that time.

I often leave them on the bathroom window sill, forget I've done it and can't see them when I'm looking as they are pale grey.
I have got in the shower with them on before and had to open the door slightly and put them out. DH did the same but is short-sighted and stepped out and stood on them.
When I worked as an infant teacher and first got specs I had two pairs when I took one pair off to read I inevitably forgot which table I had put them on. I asked the children to help and one little wag piped up "Oh it's like hunting the thimble only Mrs? glasses".

I bought a little leather crossbody bag for my phone. It’s always with me.

Juicylucy Fri 27-Oct-23 11:48:12

This is common place for me lol

Funnygran Fri 27-Oct-23 11:35:10

When I worked, the lady at the desk next to mine wore reading glasses as I did. We were always losing them. One day I searched high and low for mine and realised she had them pushed up on top of her head while wearing her own. She bought a neck chain for hers shortly after that!

I don’t wear glasses for reading or IPad so frequently put them down. When I can’t find them I get my old pair of glasses, always kept in one place, so that I can see well enough to find the present ones.

janetsp Fri 27-Oct-23 11:21:07

I’ve been doing this for years! A nightmare if in unfamiliar surroundings.
Now keep a spare pair of specs beside my bed and ensure that I take a spare pair in my bag when I’m away. They always turn up - and often on my head!

Yesterday I got home from shopping and went to change from my grey suede boots into my taupe coloured 'bootie' slippers. Changed right foot, got distracted and wandered off in one boot/one slipper. Realised I hadn't finished and proceeded to take off the slipper and put the boot back on. It was only when Mr A asked if I was going out again it dawned on me I still had my boots on, not my slippers.

I once mislaid my car keys at my workplace - turned the office upside down, checked all the drawers, bins, toilet. Tipped my handbag out. In the end, got my husband to come to me (8 miles away) with the spare set. When I got ready for bed that night, I found the keys - down my bra grin

Witzend Tue 24-Oct-23 14:44:04

I’ve done both of those - looking for glasses that were on my head, and looking for a phone that was in my hand. 😩

HowVeryDareYou2 Tue 24-Oct-23 14:39:35

I once spent a few minutes looking for my mobile....I was talking on it at the time grin

Someone told me to dry a phone out in a bag of rice. Whether it'll work for a phone rescued from the washing machine seems expecting a lot , but worth a try?

rosie1959 Tue 24-Oct-23 14:31:32

A few weeks ago I picked up a large pile of washing to take downstairs along with my phone. A couple of minutes later I was looking for my phone and there it was in the machine having a good wash. Tried to dry it out with little success so I am now using my old phone as the sim survived. Like Government ministers I have lost my Whats App messages managed to get my photos restored but lost other notes ect.

I had my readers on the other day and went into another room and wondered why I couldn’t put the ones I keep in that room on properly 🤪🤣
