Have you ever fallen asleep with a drink in your hand?

It's a bad habit of mine in the evenings, especially if I've had a glass of wine with dinner 🤣

Granmarie- dont get too worried, it happens often once you get to a certain age- late afternoon or early evening short naps are well known to give you a second wind for rest of the day.

Thank you, Nanann2.

I wasn't too worried about it happening when I was on the sofa at home, but I was a bit concerned and truly embarrassed at dropping off in the nail salon last week.
My sisters persuaded ( bullied!) me into phoning for a GP appointment, so I had a telephone consultation today, I've to go for blood tests soon with a follow up face to face appointment.

Yup. Usually red wine and never spilled a drop 😉

Good because spilling wine is a crime 🤣

Did it when i dozed off with a cup of tea.😂

Often! Sit down with a cuppa and wake up with cold tea intact except on one occasion when also had laptop on knees and that was a very expensive cup of tea.

Better than falling asleep with a lit cigarette in your hand!

My grandad did that and his arm dropped to the gas that supplied the gas poker,he was partly disabled and had knocked the tap with his foot. My gran went into the lounge to find him fast asleep with a Woodbine in one hand and his trouser leg smouldering. After that, he was only allowed to smoke when she was there and his chair was moved.

Oh yes once with a cup of tea . Once was enough never done it again.

BigBertha1 Wed 25-Oct-23 10:20:53

Oh yes but usually only a cold one. Can't hold a hot one for long now- hands playing up badly.

I have been known to fall asleep with coffee in my hand or a melted chocolate.

I fell asleep unknowingly with the control for the convertibles hood in my hand and when `I woke with a start I pulled it and the roof went back as we were going down a very steep hill.

When I returned home after a major operation I kept falling asleep with tea or coffee mugs in my hand. DH got upset and would scrub the sofa cushions clean. I would take myself off to bed after it happened so that I could sleep properly.

Jaxjacky Wed 25-Oct-23 08:58:39

No, never, I only sleep in bed.

Grantanow Wed 25-Oct-23 08:50:17

No.

My husband (with sleep apnoea) had a brief period a few years ago when he and a friend went to the gym.

They stopped going when the friend turned round and my husband was fast asleep on the rowing machine. 🤣

I'm a good sleeper at any hour of the day or night but excelled myself dropping off with a cup of tea. I woke up feeling rather damp, but was horrified to see that I'd drowned my laptop. An expensive nap since the laptop then needed a replacement keyboard. blush

Blimey, definitely an expensive nap. I once fell asleep holding my tablet, jolted awake and threw it across the room. Needed a new screen after that.

Yep. Hot coffee. Do damage to the dark brown leather sofa. Can't say the same for my white trousers. !!

That's why I don't wear white. I'm clumsy enough while awake 🤣

Yes, I've fallen asleep with a mug of tea in my hand, thankfully I take lots of milk so it wasn't too hot.
Last week I fell asleep in the salon, having my nails done... my sisters have 'bullied' me into phoning for a GP appointment because I fall asleep often in the afternoons.

I went for a check up and a few tests and all was fine. Perhaps it's worth going just in case 🙂
